Belief is something more than the TEXT it is based on. The TEXT simply provides the means to justify the Social Structure and Ritual. Cultural Religion is a means of social control. Most believers have never seriously examined the TEXT the forms the basis of their Religion in the first place. Quite a few more have developed some even sillier textual "apologies" for why the TEXT is so obtuse and erroneous in face of modern Science. but Belief is based on something else. What one Believes is based in WHAT THEY HAVE BEEN TAUGHT BY AUTHORITY and WHAT THEY HAVE DECIDED TO ACCEPT AS TRUE (ie "Faith") it is a socializing process. one each individual has to overcome (or not) few socialized humans 'evolve' spiritually. it requires pushing oneself far outside the realm of possibilities of Comfort. At a basic level "Faith" is only explained by the individual statement "I find COMFORT in this Belief". No. I can only point you to some Reading Comprehension primers, there is nothing "stupid" about jumping from 2k. the only reason someone would make that claim is fear.. or do you have a better excuse for your ignorant statement? and yes if you are not aware enough to understand why a 2k exit isnt "Stupid" you shouldnt be skydiving (IMO) a stable clear and pull is a FUNDAMENTAL SURVIVAL SKILL... 2k is PLENTY of altitude to work with IF YOU ARE AWARE. and i side with Diablo.. if in an emergency exit situation you are in my way quivering with fear because the ground is so close and exiting that low is "Stupid" you are going 1. yes, absolutely. its sad whenever someone uses their personal fears to label something 'stupid' it is sad in the case of CRW where the skills they learn (or fail to learn rather) go along way to helping keep them alive once under canopy, even if they only do a few CRW jumps for training. it is sad in relation to a 2k jump in that you MAY NOT have the opportunity to pick your exit altitude. The only thing that makes a 2k jump 'less safe' than a 13k freefall is the JUMPER and their ability to handle it. (and yes i know some 300+ jump FFers who have issues with a stable clear and pull and that is sad too...) just my opinion ofc, but if you (as a licensed jumper) are REALLY AFRAID of leaving an aircraft at 2k AGL you shouldnt be skydiving... as you have clearly NOT absorbed some of the BASIC SURVIVAL SKILLS ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

the sky is MUCH more forgiving.. you can cover ALOT of space with small adjustments HD.. if your not in complete control of those adjustments in a tunnel your going to meet the wall very hard very fast unless a tunnel rat gets in your way.... not to knock the tunnel at all, but ive talked to MANY coachs who believe the risk isnt worth the pay off for learning HD in the tunnel.. you'd be suprised how much faster things can happen on your head.. may have something to do with having your largest wing (your torso) directly exposed to the airflow...raising your chin slightly can change your position enough to put you into the wall... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
