that is just the extra sugar (and the influence of the GF) talking to you JT.. as far as camera's the other key thing to remember for skydiving vs ground photography is you are pretty much 'stuck' with what you have in skydiving.. ie you cant change settings on 'the fly' (in freefall). So the camera that gives the best consistent performance at a single setting wins over one with a 1000 fancy features you cant access till you are on the ground. that and the ability to accept 'easy user mods' for activation will place one camera higher than another.. Canon very much appears to have the features that best support the specific demands of the skydiving photographer.. but that doesnt mean that Nikon is 'lesser quality' (Coke v Pepsi.. comes down to taste and what you use it for... Rum and Pepsi anyone?? yuuuck) simply that it isnt as user friendly for the skydiving application. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Four U.S. Soldiers Rape and Kill a 14 Years Old Girl

dont create artificial categories that do not exist. "People in the Armed Forces" are those who have taken the oath of service. Good and Bad exists in every profession and practice.. Whenever there is a desire for increased quantity, quality suffers. The stress and environment of war only allows more opportunity for the worst (and the best) to come out in any individual. The actions of a few of the worst, does not represent the Service as a whole. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -
the law should never protect people from themselves or the consequences of their actions promote practices that encourage safer behavior instead of adding the existing 'nanny state' I'd argue that point intelligently with you if i thought it would do any good and would not put this in speakers Corner no reason it should end up in SC.. 'do any good'? no idea what you mean. If you are implying you will be unable to convince me that the government's role is to protect people from themselves then you are correct. the end is it is your life, to live, risk and eventually lose.. not wearing a helmet (or a seatbelt even) isn't smart, but it is NOT (nor should it ever be) the government's responsibility to enforce 'smart behavior' Down that road lies mandatory PT, dietary restrictions, curfews and a host of other choices that are entirely personal. No government should involve themselves in any individual decision that does not directly affect the health and liberty of another. Dave is on the 'right path' here... wear a helmet because the people who care about you want you to... not because the law says you must. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

You're not from around here are you? Yes, I just find this in poor taste. It is not necessary to be hateful to be funny. responses like ^^^this only make jokes like these all the funnier... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

while this was once true the 'zero defect' mentality that has been prevalent for awhile means such a significant action (2 ranks and its more than company level i'll bet) will pretty much mean his career is over.. quite a few of our military heroes would have never advanced in the current climate due to 'ill advised actions' and bad assignments for to long of a time period.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -
Ok.... FREE YOUR PUPPIES!!! *and post photographic proof here* PMs are perfectly acceptable substitutes... I'm all for 'freeing the puppies' but they should always be properly cared for as well ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

I'm one of those contractors too... but we are increasingly hiring more and more and often doing a good bit of what should be the soldiers jobs... IMO Marine Corps style training could work, but it is unlikely to produce the volume of recruits required, nor should every single job field need that level of intense stress specific training if the 'system' works as designed.. the fact we are using the US military in a role (nation building and police action vs actual warfighting) that it was never intended or designed for is causing a great deal of the additional stressors.. Op Tempo is HUGE... count me in the "Erik was Right" group... its a good damn thing he pretty much told Rumsfeld to get bent about the early planned draw downs or we'd be in alot more trouble... atm the military is doing the best with what it has, and adapting to the changing environment in the current conflict. But IMO this model is not sustainable, and in many ways we are creating soldiers that are '1 layer deep' and have a limited understanding of the "why's and wherefore's" of what their complete job is and its(their) part in the modern battlefield... while this isn't a problem now it will certainly show if/when we face a 'peer fighting force' without some significant retraining/retooling. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

basic training has changed significantly in the last few years... the training itself is much better imo (i deal with alot of soldiers at the AIT level and beyond) however the over all quality of recruits is going down. For the most part those who can are finding 'better' options, and many of the 'best and brightest' are accepting positions outside the military, ofc many are also returning as contractors where the reward for the risk is higher.. stress itself is an entirely different aspect. one i dont think you can really teach in the short course of basic and (most) AIT (particularly while focusing on a highly technical field).. the fact that the recruits are coming from 'less stressful' upbringing means many of the common military situation and circumstances are unfamiliar.. unknowns always increase stress levels ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Cougars have been threatening our species up here. no they havent.. the human species is in NO DANGER from cougars... the lose of a few individuals from a very populated whole != a threat to the species no matter how tragic it seems to the victims and their families... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

ding ding... you 'get what you pay for' applies to pretty much everything... got a $200 piece of equipment for $20 (examples only i know it wasnt 200, but people shop at walmart EXACTLY for cheaper prices and yet never question the quality) there is likely a very good reason for the 'discount' ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

two key things not really covered here.. Position (position position position position).. cant say that enough really..it and the prior action determines what you should play when (so much is circumstantial in poker, which is why there are so many seemingly successful playstyles) and relative stack sizes.. people will play hands that are 'cheap to them' even if they are weaker cards than they might otherwise.... (this is the fundamental level to successful bluffs) it matters far more in tournaments where what you have is what you have and you cant just go sit at another table.. online is fun for kicks and learning some basic strat, but there are some serious flaws in it as well (particularly the real lack of physical indicators to read your opponent) edit to add i fairly regularly take anywhere between 100-500 when I and a few friends go sit in live games with construction workers blowing their paychecks in local casinos...observing your opponents is a key skill you cant develop (well) from online gaming. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

every time this movie comes up i'm reminded of the serendipity of catching it in korea with a full scale production cast on stage in front of the screen doing pretty much every song and every call back i'd ever heard in korenglish i dont think i've laughed that hard ever... i thought i was going to pass out from lack of o2 on multiple occasions... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

"there is no secret to balance, you must learn to feel the waves" -cant recall where i heard this tbh but i have to add... learning to 'enjoy the ride' is key... because really when you think about it which one is more fun to drive (something everyone can relate to) the long straight unending highway? or the twisting curving road up and down the mountain? ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
