have not read the thread.. this is my opinion after leaving the theater in disgust and shamed to have given them my money (the manager understood and gave me a free pass for another movie later on) Complete fucking shit. 1st person camera gimmicks do not make for good story telling.... if you insist on seeing it in the theater DO NOT 1.drink before going in.. continually blurring camera made at least 10 people walk out sick at least 2 puked before making it to the bathrooms.. 2. sit anywhere in the first 15 rows... ive got a very strong stomach and generally have no issues with motion sickness.. however this steaming turd made me dizzy enough i went to the far back of the theater through pure stubborness to make it through this complete waste of time and money... wait for DVD... plot wise it was ok.. and the characters and acting were not bad tbh, (i couldn't wait for the 'camera man' to die he was actually that much of an annoying retard) however the fact the director thinks he needs to stick with the 1st person camera for the entire movie for some lame attempt at 'verisimilitude' is a clear indication he needs his head examined and should be asking 'do you want fries with that?' for his next project.. i cant think of the last time i was so ashamed of having spent my money at a movie theater... 5 thumbs down... basically a remake of Godzilla/Alien invasion done very poorly with the 'blair witch' style camera work (although alot better camera that was continually used as if it were a handheld which it clearly was not) dont waste your time or money on this flaming pile of shit unless you are leaving it on the directors doorstep so he steps it out.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

wow you really are on with the strawmen lately.. no recreation is 100% accurate ever, however some actual EFFORT could have been made, but ofc since its aimed at the average, the ignorant mass, accuracy in anything is not necessary.. just make them 'feel frightened' and you have succeeded. what is also sad is skydivers defending this stunning example of an inept portrayal. Hell a 100 jump wonder could do a better job of being 'out of control' no 'expert' required.. but then they probably would have had to resort to something other than what appears to be stock footage.. which simply supports the fact this is a bad ad both from a political standpoint and from an skydiving one. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

that is EXACTLY what i was thinking when i saw the thread title... the fact that most 'mediums' are actually X-Larges has always been hilarious.. and gets me in trouble with 1 'professional' i know. I'm quite the skeptic (of everything) but she always knew when i was coming over to hang out.... even when driving from 4 hours away, the door would be open and a cold beer near my favorite chair. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

It was that old community that motivated me to drive to Eloy for the first Dz.com gathering at that DZ at the Memorial Day boogie in 2002. This was after the first US DZ.com gathering in the fall of 2001 at Spaceland. There was only about a dozen DZ.commers in Eloy for that boogie and only a handful more at the first DZ.com gathering at the Holiday Boogie in Eloy that Christmas. Even though the numbers were low, it was like meeting old friends whom I had known for a while. Well, I had known them for two years online. The site has grown exponentially, with many growing pains inside and outside of the online community. Too bad it will never be like it was even just 5 years ago. I still carry some of the photos from that time around on my devices... i wonder where that place and time went too... i know i know.. you can never step in the same river twice.. but this one i miss more than most. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

QFT. Martial Arts teaches self defense and discipline.. when/if the fight cannot be avoided and you completely fuck up the bully you tend to get avoided from there on out... being a military brat i was often the 'new kid' that was tested.. putting a couple of football players out for the season due to wrist and foot injuries meant i was pretty much left alone... (and meant many ongoing fights stopped when i dived in to protect my friends.) The key is to make sure he learns the real lessons of martial arts, you dont train to start fights, you train to prevent them and to protect yourself (and your friends/family) when they do occur. suspensions are rather petty punishments and wont set him back much at all if he is a decent student. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

USPA - Jan Meyer Impeachment??
Zenister replied to Thanatos340's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
many many thanks... public meetings need to be public (to the members at min) anyone citing security/privacy concerns for a recreational activity and the membership organization that governs it only further illustrates that something is indeed rotten in 'denmark' ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -
This would be a very welcome change...and one that would convince me to donate financially to DZ.com again... lately the Bonfire does more to reminds me of why I hang around the edges and eventually wander off from many of them...nothing to do with the reason I'm here/there and driven by childish meaningless unrelated drivel. Why bother to hang out at all when there is a better party with people I like and discussions I might actually enjoy somewhere else.. the unfortunate result is the 'culture' around the bonfire and the community and bonding it provides go out the window when everyone goes to their private parties instead.. if you arent already 'in' you wont ever be... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

I'm fighting a 75$ charge for exactly the same reason... meanwhile its fucked up my credit... despite the fact it is clearly the billing agency's (and dr rep office that went out of business before billing) fault.. sure its 75$ i could suck it up and pay it and be done with it.. but IMO principles are worth fighting over. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

which is why random drug tests do very very little to affect the people who are at the most risk for behavioral/performance/safety/security problems. but hey why not enact 'feel good' measures so you can post a 'drug free work place' sign that has no real meaning? ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

SO How Bad is it REALLY to Pirate a Wireless Signal??
Zenister replied to ACMESkydiver's topic in The Bonfire
^this... odds of it happening? very low. possible damage to your life if it does? doing taxes? are you nuts? is the extra time really worth the possible risk? how much time will you waste cleaning up if/when it does happen. its actually quite the game for bored geeks... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -

In other news, some people seen in Ads are Bad actors! edited so you might actually see the point. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

sad that basic observation and critical thought skills are so decayed that poorly planned, badly thought out political ads actually sway opinions and affect who the next 'leader of the free world' may be.. you'll have to forgive me for being completely unimpressed by both the ad and anyone who believes it raises a single valid point. In addition it is both terrible skydiving video AND poorly edited for the 'effect' it intends. It isn't like it would be difficult to actually APPEAR out of control..It therefore fails on all counts.. unless ofc you are both easily amused and totally unobservant then by all means allow such drivel to affect who you vote for. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

EXPOSED: Bush Planned on Invading Iraq Before 9/11

Then feel free to go start your own country. well how about this then... would you get in a plane who pilot was elected by popular vote of the passengers? there was a point in time (ages ago) when those who voted and those who were running were at least vaguely informed and qualified... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -
No. People being put in harms way on our behalf should have some spiritual comfort provided. You have hit me with a question here that is hard to specify a complete answer for since our soldiers do come from various religions and all deserve the same support. We may not be able to afford padres of all religions but I would suspect that we would need to ensure they are versed in all religions and open minded enough to provide neccessary religious support in any religion. good F'n luck... the chances of a 'True Believer' (one to dedicated enough to become ordained in their religion and then join military service) who is also well versed enough, empathetic enough and 'open minded' enough to seriously minister to 'the heathens' without looking down their nose and attempting to insert their own faith and belief is slim and none. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

coulda, woulda... waaah. step up and bring it, but be warned everyone in SC has had quite alot of time to sharpen their knifes against casual trolls. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

function wins over form every time. ofc i've never understood why anyone would wear some of the very very silly designs (nice looking however) heels ive seen at dinner parties either... the thing i like most about crocs is they work well as 'slides' for quick trips outside the house, but with the heel strap on you can actually run in them too.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

i guess i'm getting old too.. after 2 years of asking (read: giving her the CC and saying get one, because if I get one it wont be 'right') for a dishwasher, I finally have one.... just had to get rid of the 'bed warmer' and get a new residence. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

AG Mukasey STILL doesn't know if waterboarding is torture
Zenister replied to kallend's topic in Speakers Corner
the fact that this term is completely relative is a something that the defenders of torture never seem to get either.. a great many things cause 'little to no physical HARM' and yet I'll bet you'd be very pissed off if they were performed on you and yours... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -
oh no the industry cant do that.. how would they subsidize all the useless executives and management at the expensive of the artist.... while the is no defense for piracy, there is also no defense for the ticks and leeches in the industry who have been feeding of the artist's work for decades. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

in college my phone number was one digit off from a local pizza hut. After the first few weeks i just started answering with 'hello' and taking orders. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

lol that is just sad... i guess the wuffo audience wont notice that its clearly 2 different people (looks like it might be 2 separate DZ's even) and that the freefaller is never spinning or out of control (and infact is making adjustments to 'seem out of control by staying on her(?) back) at all... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Silly girl. You are mistakenly thinking that since you figured out there is a statistical "skew" to the "close to home" category of accidents, that somehow a rider isn't in more danger there. But the very fact you mention (that a rider spends more time close to home than elsewhere) is WHY there are more accidents there. So regardless of how "skewed" you believe that stat may be, it is still true. It is also well established that people are less diligent and routinely careless when driving or riding near home. This fact is a big contributor to the "skewed" stat you site. Silly YOU. She is dead on.. it is TIME OF EXPOSURE that matters, NOT Location. Your argument is as flawed as those who site 'skydiving is safer than driving' Dont confuse the real factors. Many of us travel quite alot, spending less than 1 week per month "at Home". To argue I'm at more of a risk for the 1 week a month I'm near my 'permanent residence' than the 3 weeks of the month that I'm out traveling is simply incorrect. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
