pretty much ruin the pacing and tone of a movie.. just watching Out of Sight.. (amazingly enough a good movie with J-LO) original "situations like this there is a high potentiality for the common mother fucker to bitch out" TV overdub "situations like this there is a high potentiality for the common monkey feather to back out" not only completely breaks any verisimilitude, but reduces the entire movie to a complete joke.. if you've seen the original you will realize they pretty much had to bastardize multiple scenes (simply for language) to make this 'safe' for TV, and to be perfectly honest what kid over the age of 8 isnt going to be able to figure out what is actually being said... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

OP started it here and was likely expecting a 'fight' based on the tone.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

If you are counting those then you also have to count the 'chick flick Westerns' (both very good movies Legends of the Fall The Man from Snowy River ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

and all Westerns are actually Samurai movies (the Magnificent Seven being a direct translation of Seven Samurai)... Star Wars was more based on "The Hidden Fortress" than anything else ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Stream Seven Stream Eight (Last one for the time being). again many many thanks... this should be the standard for all member organizations. My point from the other thread was that Closed meetings only lend to suspicion and rumor. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -
from that list i've got (mostly stored at a friends studio) Aeolian Wind Harp Didgeridoo Dulcimer Thumb Piano (a couple actually) I've always wanted one of these -Glass Armonica, but the only time i ran across one for sale i was broke.http://www.oddmusic.com/gallery/om14725.html on a related Morphine reference Mark Sandman made/modified quite alot of his own instruments (is most know for 2 string slide bass) including the Tritar -mixing guitar/bass strings with custom wound pickups ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

I can't get that link to come up...but I just spent about 10 minutes checking out his website. Very cool. install/update Quicktime and it should work.. although he might be getting hit hard from lurkers here atm... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

about 5 I think... i really havent been counting but could probably add it up close from my CC bills (not counting shared/bartered time though) never enough would be the best answer.. I need to spend some dedicated coaching time getting my sitfly transitions locked in and work my way to HD... particularly since i'm not jumping as much as i'd like.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

technically yes... morally no.. i did somewhat the same thing with fencing.. having been fencing (and coaching) for nearly 6 years before my first tournament I pretty much slept through the 'beginner' class. Was essentially giving lessons in disengage attack and riposte (when someone actually attacked me) the only thing that made it interesting at all was i was also fencing in the open class which started half way thru.. running between strips with only the required 2 min break meant I was a tired puppy even at 18.. however it was embarrassing to both me and my coaches that i competed in that level at all.. I wanted to give the medal back at the end (they wouldnt let me) as i was clearly a ringer. Have them compete at the level they are actually at, not sabotage those who clearly have less flight experience by rigging the field....wherever they place, the achievement will actually mean something to them years later ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

well per the wiki and a half remembered conversation with Dana ages ago.. there were some significant changes in the manufacturing and engineering that made them much easier to play... i know Dana had one for a while but never took one on tour until he got another modern version... edit: comparing the instruments found on youtube seems to show there is a Bass (the one Dana and that kid have) and a ContraBass the one in your first link.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

only if i dont have to drink the diet... i tried that for about 2 weeks to reduce my sugar intake.. tbh i'd rather not drink.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

OMG i sooooo want one although i think that is the same one i'm referring to.. unless there is a simple 'bass' sax something in between that beast and the baritone. Dana Colley of Morphine fame was the first time i'd ever seen one.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

haunting... do you know/can you recommend a maker? I like to collect unique instruments (even if i play them very very badly.. was trained in Saxophone, Trumpet ages ago..)... my Shehnai experiments ran even the cats from the room.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Saxophone hands down... Amplified it makes the air move.. and that seems to have very very interesting effects on women in the audience.. ok so I am biased for this reason... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4zw1Bli1jbc ofc that is a BASS Sax... near 6ft tall and needs its own stand.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Jessye Norman is amazing... one of the great voices of the 20th century... if you liked that then this link will keep you busy for a while http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Jessye+Norman&search_type=&search=Search ive always had a huge torch for women who can 'rattle the walls' in any genre... certainly not in the same realm, but this one is a good friend. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=16xJDyFCN5k ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

hmm High Plains Drifter? Fist full of Dollars? For a Few Dollars More? Pale Rider? not sure how you can enjoy tGBU and not like those.. A Man called Horse has always been a favorite of mine. 3:10 to Yuma was nicely done recently as well.. but tbh I'm not much of a fan of any of the Young Guns movies... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Two versions http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tAnQQ4_Jpd8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wiUCGO7XzrM Exposition from wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dido's_lament tbph you will find such discussions here get buried under the fluff to fast to get much input... I've always wanted a sub forum for more 'serious' artistic/musical/literary discussions with other skydivers but there doesnt seem to be enough interest. Edit: also more insightful titles help immensely.. if for no other reason that its easier for those interested in a topic to find via search when it gets buried sometime monday night.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

I wonder how much effect the requirements of 'other' platforms based on the 707 (many of which are coming up or past end of life) are factored into the AF's tanker requirements.. common parts makes maintenance, support and training significantly easier.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

edited for proper perspective...those who believe there is a difference haven't been around the world enough times. all that matters is what you are willing to do for those you care about... nothing else is important at all.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Best DZ for canopy (including swooping) coaching?
Zenister replied to Zenister's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
well we know its not Eloy any longer so where should the serious student of canopy flight go to learn? obviously aircraft, landing area, environment (both weather and culture) matter... but available coaching and easy of dedicated canopy jumps would be a larger factor IMO.... apart from funding your own plane/field and dedicated coach what operating dropzone is considered 'the best' lately? ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -
oh I agree completely, the school's policy is assine.. "turn the other cheek" is a nice ideal, but in the real world usually means being struck on the otherside as well.... my point was more that my own lack of control was/is what resulted in the injuries to those who attacked me and the punishment I received because of it (was once suspended for 2 weeks for knocking another high school student out while defending my friend..) proper technique, discipline and restraint stops the violence at a level that does not cause serious injury to the opponent. I've yet to reach that level of control or compassion. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

$25 per min???? so much for cheaper than a skydive.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

yes and no... while training illustrates that most fights are not 'serious' it (training, if done properly) will also show the student that real combat isnt a game (as portrayed by Wrestling, UFC, and cartoons) and that people can and are permanently maimed or killed in a serious fight. This is part of training the students to understand that violence should be a last resort, never the first. the modern martial 'sport' does a great disservice in this regard. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
