You may not know that many non-living things have a gender;

have to ask someone more official than i, and i'm not so sure its best to discuss that over an open forum, but i'm in for whatever i can do to help the Farrington's have been amazingly cool and open in accepting me to their skydiving family dz and I'd hate to see such a wonderful dropzone and the family that runs it, go away because of one asshat and his personal vendetta.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Are Compulsory Biometric ID Cards in our Future?
Zenister replied to bodypilot90's topic in Speakers Corner
Consider how easy it was to crack the CSS encryption in DVDs, and once done, how quickly it spread. Any technology that needs to be quickly applied to hundreds of millions of people will Not be expensive, nor is it like to be that complicated. And the incentives to break it are high - good money for selling fakes, or from those with a great distrust and nothing else to do with their time. exactly. all it will really take is one techno criminal to break it the first time and your system will be compromised...unless they plan on issuing regular security patches for your ID everytime its broken..... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -
if you want to jump at Kapow in the immediate future, you should head over today as it will be the last day until the permit is approved. The judge reluctantly denied the Farringtion's request for stay of the county's cease and desist order The judge apologized (and admitted to having jumped before) for depriving us of the enjoyment of our sport, but given the situation as presented was forced to uphold the county's order. grrrrr but the sky is blue and Rainer is magnificent today.....

Riddle me this -- When is The Draft not The Draft?
Zenister replied to quade's topic in Speakers Corner
technically your delayed enlistment counts as 'inactive reserve' as they could have called you early if necessary... my 8 passed last year and i know i personally avoided recall (i know of 2 O6's who seriously suggested it) because i was still working in the program as a field engineer and would be involved at any rate...... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -
which is of course the nature of politicians, but still doesnt make it right..if your an incompetent fool, a stellar performer, or even a mediocre wage earner, facts remain the same, either you did well or no.. candy coated speeches help nothing but egos... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

a number of us are doing just that...was a perfectly lovely afternoon jumping at Kapow.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

WOW.. i can relate to the feelings of hopelessness and the contemplation of suicide, but i have zero comprehension about how someone could do that to someone they called "friend" (the cameraman) I feel more for him than anyone else in this...what a perfectly asshat thing to do to someone.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Iraqis Say U.S. Soldiers Steal During House Raids
Zenister replied to Botellines's topic in Speakers Corner
you'd like to think so..........but i personally know of incidents where documents, pictures etc gathered from raided homes were thrown in the burn pit after it was determined their intelligence value was minimal.... [sarcasm] real good way to win the support of the people[sarcasm], but i guess its easier than trying to figure out who they belong to to return them....its difficult to control and track every soldiers actions in this kind of conflict, but we could certainly be doing a better job if we wish to gain and maintain the basic respect of the populace... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -
never got a hold during student status..I love Eloy, but considering i went thru AFF in late spring i'd say i was pretty lucky.. since then i've been amazed at students whining (or even throw things and pout like a six year old ) when they couldnt get in the air during a weather hold...even as we were watching highly loaded canopies backing up on final... i suppose excitement of the new overrides common sense far to often...i'm glad i skipped that stage ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

thats a big maybe...i've pretty much lost faith in Bush's ability to select good staff/advisors and then heed their advice since Colin Powell has been so completely sidelined on military issues in favor of civilians with no military experence.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

but do you think her path is the result of her outlook? i do have to admit the less i care about doing/getting something the easier it is to accomplish most times..the things i care about are always soooo difficult, while the things that dont really matter much to me (that others seem to obsess over) are all to easy... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Zenister replied to quade's topic in Speakers Corner
oh I agree it absolutely sucks... i know soldiers going on their second year of stop loss as they are in critical specialties in deployed units, it can certainly affect your motivation..but it isnt as if its something they didnt agree too.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -
Are Compulsory Biometric ID Cards in our Future?
Zenister replied to bodypilot90's topic in Speakers Corner
and how does that help you when the criminal has an ID with your name and information on it but HIS biometrics? the same way a fake ID now can have a valid (but misapplied) identity and a picture of the person using it. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -
Riddle me this -- When is The Draft not The Draft?
Zenister replied to quade's topic in Speakers Corner
as mentioned, if you signed the contract you 'completely volunteered' for this...wither you planned/expected certain clauses to ever be applied to you is irrelevant, you accepted those conditions on enlistment. no contradiction at all. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -
i know (and have lost) some of the most positive people in the world to stupid, dumb luck events.....your outlook on life only really affects you, it doesnt do a whole lot to stop the spare tire flying down the interstate towards your car.....but it might help you deal with the results.... there are mindsets that help you take advantage of opportunities as they occur, but "is it luck??" ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

trolling trolling trolling..... not necessarily you, but certainly in the way these articles fail to mention all the facts, in order to raise nonexistant issues to the general public's eye what this and every other article I’ve read about stop loss recently, completely neglect to mention, is that the majority of these soldiers have NOT fulfilled the contract they signed when they enlisted. standard enlistment is 4 years active, 4 years inactive during which time you can be recalled to serve the needs of the army.. so very few soldiers who were 'scheduled' to get out are actually been held past their contracts..only those who have already served for 8 years or more, who are generally in leadership positions and so are fully aware of the necessity of their remaining in service until the current conflict is over.. its still completely volunteer, no matter how the media attempts to misrepresent it... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -
was out at Kapow for a little while this afternoon.. If possible i'l be at the hearing as well... if you havent been here, Kapowsin is home to one of the most regularly stunning veiws in the world.. i wonder if letters/emails from out of state/country jumpers stating their desire to jump there would be of any assistance? after all there is no better way to appreciate the beauty of Washington State than from freefall. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

isnt a matter of jerry springer publicity and i doubt its a british thing as i know lots of RAF pilots and soldiers...i just question how anyone can have such ignorant attitudes about war, its means and objectives with prior service (of any nation) experience.. again it doesnt matter what i believe, but your statements thus far have eroded your credibility with this veteran at least. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

i really wonder given your attitude if youve really ever had anyone shoot at you?? they were engaged in military activities, supporting enemy action. They were valid targets. good thing your not in charge...we'd have already lost, and sustained an obscene number of casualities to spare enemy lives... a priority??? you have no clue what the priorities and situations are for any given unit on any given night and yet your all ready to run operations to capture 3 gun runners.....yeesh... 3 less insurgents, 1 less arms convoy. no US losses. no large scale operation, a very effective mission. If it were all so easy this conflict would have long since been over.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

nice open mind you have there...but the remains were not investigated by ground trooops until some 6 hours later..... minds and parachutes, minds and parachutes.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

wow how obtuse can you be??? i was wondering if this was the video that was shown while i was in Iraq, and yes it can be said for certain, as this incident was followed up by ground troops from 4 ID that verified the remains of RPGs and SA7s in the truck the next morning, but of course naysayer would doubt facts if you tossed the remains on their laps "well how do i know these came from that site??" how exactly do you expect the apache to prevent these men from running off and continuing their activities? land?? if you really have the military experience you allude to, it should be rather obvious that disrupting and destroying enemy supply lines is a key objective in any conflict. These men were transporting arms (yes arms there is this thing called Tac(tical) ID, and pilots and imagery analysts get ALOT of training in it. I do alot of that training) for the enemy, and as such are a perfectly valid target using any available weapon system... if that had been UAV video people would be screaming about how the use of artillery against light infantry targets is unjustified.…. Oh...however horrible war is, there is no denying the skillful "art" of war. And we're good at it! no that video is damn impressive, if you pay attention you'll realize the first time the apache engaged, the tgt was to far away for manual targeting and had to switch firing modes to reach....the terrorists/insurgents never even knew the first rounds were fired.. i dont know where you learned your military skills at, but killing the enemy at a range where he cannot harm you is pretty much the ideal tactical scenero every soldier looks for... its war, people die. chose the wrong side, be in the wrong place at the wrong time and it might be you... i shed no tears for the now deceased arms suppliers..thats more SA's and RPGs that wont be used against us...the truck it self isnt the problem.there are lots of trucks and alot of RPGs and SAs in Iraq...those 6 hands will not be using any of them.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Mind trying to back that up? That's an outrageous claim that is not supported by the casualty figures I've seen. wondering if he meant to refer to the fact that insurgents/terrorists have killed far more Iraqis than US soldiers?not sure how that would apply to this particular thread discussion but.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
