  5. yup, he'd just crossed that second white line and the accident stayed on that side...of course he didnt have much time for more than first instinctual response, but your right..he could have very nearly stopped in his tracks and watched it sail by..... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  6. i was once given a ticket on A1A in FL, but the cop wrote US1 on it instead ...i noticed when he handed it to me to sign, but wisely kept my mouth shut until the court date... it took about 30 sec in the court room for the officer to realize his mistake and the judge to dismiss the charge..
  7. damn..thats some motivation to work on my sprint again...he got 5-6 good strides in after he saw the car coming...a bit more pep and that mess might have missed him... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

  10. If you're doing it to feel good, cool. Helping them, you ain't. 'help' is many different things to different people... unless you are there in that moment you can not make that assertion. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  11. had an Iraqi fire rounds at you yet? I dont think you know the true nature of this fight....Bush is doing a good job of fighting his own war against freedom. I'd hope Kerry isn’t so short sighted as to be ignorant of the commitments we (the US) has made simply by starting this action. But I also believe he'd be allot more motivated about getting us out of what is rapidly becoming a very bad situation militarily. There are quite a number of things we could be doing, to improve our security and quality of life that GWB cares nothing about, and I am one at least who is appalled by the number of things the sheep have accepted as 'necessary' at the prompting of their executive shepards. Given that the Republicans control Congress (unless they all lose their minds and completely attach themselves to GWB and what is becoming an ultra conservative leadership of a more moderate party.) I'm hoping they will fight each other for at least 4 years till someone with some real leadership experience, that the public might actually elect appears.....yea right.... My freedom has suffered more from GWB and his adminstration than from any terrorist action to date, and every day our real freedoms get smaller and smaller...I’ll vote for nearly anyone who will slow that process, even if it is primarily through incompetence, incompetence has worked as a strategy for the last several administrations, i don’t see why it wouldn’t work any differently for the next. But I'd rather not have them off on a holy war as well. I'm very interested to see who Kerry picks for advisors mind you. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  12. yes, on occasion, when the mood strikes... i'm a firm believer in helping others when i can, particularly when it has no real cost/effort to me.....this applies to lending gear, buying meals and offering a place to stay, any help i can, to those i care for... the change from this mornings bagel?? what is that (really) to me? what is it to the guy who spent the night under the over pass down by the river?? ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  13. wow we totally agree, i cant say i've voted straight republican, as i have voted libertarian several times in the past, but i too am completely over GWB and his attempts to impose his own religious beliefs on the US and the rest of the world. I had some faith in his staff and advisors but the obvious sidelining of the most experience military member of his cabinet is appalling.. i'm certainly no fan of Kerry's either, and am honestly offended these are the only two choices we are offered as a country...it really should say something is wrong with the electoral process when your real choices are as narrow as ours have been for the last 16 years or so.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  14. i'm sure i could have gotten some help.... if i'd asked...but honestly i'd rather be alittle annoyed and tired than feel guilty keeping anyone away from the sky today... mostly packed..chilling for a few hours before the midnight run to AZ..... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

    Kapowsin!!

I'm leaving (for now, but i'll be back. i've tasted the air and the water here and so will never be the same again) and i'm already starting to miss this place, particularly on days like today when the sky is an amazing blue, but it is really sense of community, of home, the families, camaraderie and joy of playing in in the skies with Rainer so close you can almost touch her on exit. many many thanks to everyone at Kapowsin Airsports and environs near who took me in, helped me learn, play, party, laugh, love and dance around moonlit fires. They yelled at me when i needed it, taught me continuously (the joy of cessnas and slow exits, how to drink busch light and more about skydiving and truly enjoying life than I'll ever be able to express) fed me lobster and strawberries, spattered me with paint on rain cloudy days, showed me where to crash when far to much beer had been consumed, and woke me to the lovely otter in the morning. I'm a better skydiver for having jumped here and more significantly, more importantly, my life is better because of the people, and place they have created to share the sport with. Again, I cant say it enough…many many thanks to the Farrington's, the Aiken's.... Andy, April, Jessie, Jeff, Keri, Kelly, Luke, Monica, Corina, Jeff, Chris, Margrette, Scott, James, Alan, Larry... Alison(sorry i missed your birthday) many more jumpers whom I’ve been privileged to share the skies over Kapowsin with. Be safe everyone, tell me how i can help from afar and i absolutely will, the next jump here cant come soon enough.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  17. The Nixon's -The Fall Do you know where we’re going Can you see what’s ahead, can you make out a path Can we keep our footing If you keep me awake and you can show me the way I might sometimes lead But for now for the fall can you promise that someone will catch me Cause I’m falling in...into the real life Falling in...into the real life There was a time that I felt I had guide But I’m needing a revelation I’ve been spit out and spit on Can’t even keep together my disjointed frustration Up until now it was a question of how and no deeper It’s the who and the why and the reasons I just can’t remember Cause I’m falling in...into the real life Falling in... into the real life Are you the one do you believe if I crumble You can put me back together Is this the time and place that might begin What might be forever.....forever and i simply LOVE the way that fretless sings..... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

  19. and how much of that award was politically driven? I'm not so sure 'documentraries' should be 'staging' scenes...there is a difference between a recreation on an event to clarify discrepancies and a fictional scene created to bring across a particular point. Which one does MM make more use of in his films? ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

  24. i dont see terribly many people robbing for six packs, or brewers having shoot outs over who supplies the local bars? why? its legal, taxed and regulated. It becomes a source of income for the state, estimated profits from an tax equivalent to that of tobacco would make marijuana the number one cash crop in the world. If you control the supply you have a great deal more control over the users behavior and the environment and conditions they use it in... everything including oxygen is dangerous with uncontrolled use/exposure. Legalization and regulation are far more effective means of control than the demoning anti-drug campaigns currently in use. Government's job should never be to "protect you from yourself”. It should create an environment where you are responsible for your own actions, irregardless of any substances you many have consumed. you know nothing of economics if you think demand does not create supply. the Drug trade is amazingly more profitable since its become illegal and under tight scrutiny. the governments policies created the environment for criminal profit. Take away the illegal profit and you eliminate the major source of drug related crime....it isn’t Tommy breaking into houses to pay for speed. It is gangsters fighting over trade and markets... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  25. nice assumption, but if that were any thing near true we'd have ALOT more violent crime associated with drug use... something on the order of 85% (i'll honestly have to look for more recent numbers) of drug offenders are incarcerated on non violent charges, have had no violent charges filed against them, and are locked away as if they presented a clear danger to society. the "War on Drugs" has been a cash cow for law enforcement. So of course no juristiction is going to turn down special assistance from federal funds....Want money to fight thieves, rapists and murderers in your town? sorry cant justify that, but we'll spend several million (per LEO agency in some states/ counties) on helicopters and drug interdiction patrols, all while the 'line officers' drive older cars, use outdated radio and computer systems and cant pull overtime to work day to day cases because the budget went to the Narc team..and Montgomery county has suuuuuch a drug problem too...... at least terrorists represent a real threat..... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
