to bad the picture got taken down.. but if iirc. It was the man getting screwed there, not the office... there is a difference.. much like saluting O2 thieves with brass on their hats with the greeting of "to the rank, sir" ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

i've been limping around all day on a single crutch (never very far mind you) and haven’t had my Oxycodon since i woke up this morning, just the Advil seems to take the edge off enough to do everything but the more strenuous stretches i've been trying for the last week.... I discovered a hammock is a great tool for slowly flexing with a variable about of weight applied.. they put it in thru the hip. Which everyone says is a very good thing....from the pool pick you posted we've got matching (opposing) scars, but somehow (imagine that) I'll wager yours is faaaar sexier.. i think most of the knee pain i'm having still is from swelling and the tendons as they stretch across, but that is just my slightly educated non-physician opinion, we'll see what the experts say next week.. ps.. If you or Cajones still need to borrow rigs for work, i've now got an infinity with a pd143/stilletto 150 that wont be getting any air time soon...... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

this is the reason i always try (always do slider and brakes) to cock the pilot chute, set brakes and unstow the slider myself..these tasks take less than a minute, and i've never been in that much of a hurry.. I pay the packer for the more annoying parts of packing, i do expect him/her to check the things i set (and have had packers catch me setting the brakes incorrectly before) but i like to do the things that are most immediately cause for concern myself... i'd have paid him, but then i check my gear on the ground before putting it on too..... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

That's probably my fault, I brought 3 cases the year before and it was drank up pretty quick. I introduced these non-Texans to Shiner...now they want more. nah Shiner is ok, but what we really want is some Fat Tire, or better yet Blue Paddle, Naughty Nellie or Mirror Pond... the occasional Arrogant Bastard would be lovely too, and those are just the 'main stream' micro brews... probably the worst thing about moving away from the PNW is all the crappy beer I'm going to have to drink in the SW ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

i guess I'll count myself lucky.. its been 15 days since i broke my right femur, and gained a new piece of hardware. 7 in the hospital rather drugged up, and 8 out..i can put equal weight on my broken leg when standing, but my range of motion really sucks, and every morning its like starting over again.. by early afternoon i've worked my leg so i can bend it about 10 deg past 90, but i cant straighten it completely without assistance. at this point the swelling has gone down except around the knee, and i have strength in my thigh, but there seems to be a ''catch" i the knee when i try to move it smoothly. Yesterday i limped around for a while on a single crutch and am trying to get a regular walking motion back.. it just feels like my right quad is waaaaaay to short, and I still have enough pain to require the oxycodon every 6 hours if I want to be able to ‘work it’ i've been working with a massage therapist (such a lovely pain) who is due to come back tues, but at this point most of the physical therapy I've done has been self motivated/researched as they didn’t send me home with an appointment and my check up isn’t till the first week in august..... my standard for jumping again is full range of motion and a two mile jog without pain... I'd love to be there by oct, but i think nov/dec in time for the xmas boogie is more realistic... ps if you have a choice, go ANYWHERE other than Maricopa county if you are injured at Eloy. They took care of the basics, and seem to have done an excellent job in surgery, but their physical therapy consisted of "here is your crutches".. i had no idea my range of motion was so limited till the day i left... i think if they had been working with me since day 2 i wouldn’t have lost all the mobility while i was dancing with Morpheous....I honestly got better care for a fractured/sprained ankle a few years ago, when I hobbled into to a podiatrist the next day… ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

by doing that you are creating a more dangerous situation for everyone... if you dont like the direction set by the first jumper down, land off! it is a very simple rule of thumb really a downwind landing is a MUCH safer option than having 20+ jumpers playing 'who should i follow' and jousting each other in a small landing area... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Horray!!!! this is my biggest peeve about Perris vs Eloy.. you cant causally 'lurk' other peoples dive debreifs as there is no large common area like there is in the hanger at Eloy... very cool... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

"Compressed Cabin" theory is not based on PHYSICS.

exactly. it seemed odd to see real 'seat belts' in aircraft with no seats, i always wondered why carabiners with locking gates and the proper webbing sewed to them were not used instead?? MUch more easily clipped on to hip rings and nearly bombproof unless dileberately removed.... till someone pointed out the legal certification process that would be nessesary first... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -
in my experience at Eloy during the summer it is: door mostly shut with someone's foot propping it open 4-6 inches for a bit of air flow till 1000 feet when seatbelts come off. Hot & sweaty is always a better option than cold & dead.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

along those lines, one of my favorite things is turning the brightness all the way down on his monitor. When he cant figure it out and gets another (IT often does R&R most times rather than screw with hardware onsite) do it again.. eventually IT will wonder how this guy could be so fricking stupid ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

well i wish i'd had video to show you then.. because it was waaaay close behind him and came up high enough to be seen over his head by everyone farther down the landing area... He had no idea how close it was, or even that it had really bounced at all, until others told him.... not something to lose sleep over, but strange things do happen... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

tis all good Tracy's giving me hell cause she cares..and i deserve it on occasion.. i dont know that a board could hit you in the face unless you kicked it forward, but with an ugly bounce it might clock you in the back of the head.. not to discourage you at all, i think it's very very cool that you want to skysurf just pay close attention to your instructors and remember your adding levels of complexity to a sport that can already hurt you in more ways than are easily imagined.. rock on!! ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
-
quite possiblly yes... i'd imagine getting smacked in the face with a bouncing skyboard could cause a serious change in direction at a very low altitude... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

cool thanks HH. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

I always wondered about that.. I've seen skysurfers do both, but the more experienced I've watched surf in with it on..... I saw one skysurfer in training drop his board low on final and it very nearly bounced back up and hit him (it went high enough behind him that you could see it over his head) ..that could have been very painful and caused an even uglier landing incident... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Lawrocket, Nightingale and other legal eagles - Juries.
Zenister replied to Erroll's topic in The Bonfire
how much research into the background of the actual juror pool before selection goes on? I'm sure some of the tactics used in the movie are completely illegal (i wont give it away) but I wonder... I'm in a juror's pool, would a firm do enough research to find out I post here and discover my opinions on gun control, abortion etc...? ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -

Zenister replied to Erroll's topic in The Bonfire
you really should.. I too was wondering how much of this is true, it is about the most high tech, high dollar jury research team (leader, Gene Hackman) ever.. if this kind of stuff really goes on, even at a less Hollywooed, more realistic level. Our system is more fucked up than I'd ever imagined... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -
i'm about to attempt that feat myself... in my current condition it should take me about 2 hours and be quite the workout... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Actual similes and metaphors found in real high school essays
Zenister replied to PhillyKev's topic in The Bonfire
if those are from high school essays there are several plagiarists in the bunch.. a few of those are very familiar and i dont read high school essays.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -
uh... UAV operators already consider themselves 'pilots', and no the decision making (fire or no) will be made at the O5/O6 level on the ground, not by the individuals flying the aircraft..... we are already working on the dissemination platforms for several of the advanced Tactical UAVs (TUAVs) and I've been involved in the TTP (tactics, techniques, and procedures) discussions for the past year or so... If I hadn’t broken myself I'd be in Cali working with General Atomics on the updated Predator interface this week... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

at the risk of getting this thread moved to the forum i cannot access at the moment.. why would anyone with a modicum of spiritual understanding need a man made mediator at all between themselves and God? it is totally unnecessary in the first place..God doesn’t create dogma, Man does. Dogma is all that 'separates' you from divinity.... but that is not what we are discussing here. Saints are one of the conventions of the Catholic faith. Catholics 'need' Saints in the same manner that Christians 'need' the carpenter you hold so dear....it is part of their religion's established conventions, and all organized religions need money. It is the fundamental flaw in 'religion' in the first. Since we are discussing particular details of the Catholic religion, or rather just playing with the idea of a "St. Skydiver" this sub discussion is off topic. If you wish to discuss the relative merits of comparative religions, and the distance each holds it’s followers from God, start a thread in the Speaker's Corner and I will happily join you next week...

Saints of all categories I thought applied to skydivers.. Falling = St. Venantius Fliers = Our Lady of Loreto Flying = Joseph of Cupertino, Elijah Flying, all involved in = Our Lady of Loreto for good weather = Agricola of Avignon, Clare of Assisi, Medard of Noyon Freedom = Infant Jesus of Prague Friendships = John the Apostle against dizziness or vertigo = St. Ulric against sudden death = Aldegundis, Andrew Avellino, Barbara, Christopher Aviators, aviation = Our Lady of Loreto, Therese of Lisieux, Joseph of Cupertino Champions; invincible people; to be invincible = St. Drausinus Death, happy = Joseph of Cupertino Death, sudden = Andrew Avellino Jumping = St. Venantius Leaping = St. Venantius Misfortune = Agricola of Avignon Obsession = Raphael the Archangel Paratroopers = Michael the Archangel Sexual temptation = Angela of Foligno, Catherine of Siena, Margaret of Cortona, Mary of Edessa, Mary of Egypt, Mary Magdalene, Mary Magdalen of Pazzi, Pelagia of Antioch given this list I would nominate St. Venantius there are 5 St. Venantius and from the descriptions I cannot tell which refers to which trait unfortuantly as our most likely Saint, however you know the Catholic chuch it would take 200 years and 2000 page to come up with an 'official' answer "tried searching the internet and came up dry"??? I guess I'm a heathen with to much interest in religion (and too much time on his hands) but you think they might have checked www.catholic.org first.... yeesh.. it took me 2 min to search through my religious links folder and maybe 10 to read the lists and cut and paste all that I thought applied... no Patron Saint of Beer I'm shocked.. do you think she took your request very seriously?? ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
