    well they are certainly not wasted votes, but the WILL have little to no meaning as to who becomes the next president... i'm all for voting your conscious... what everyone has to decide is, do they wish only to make a statement to how they wish the world was, or do they really want to have some sort of effect on who our next president is?? ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

    Glad you clarified that a bit at the end actually my point was more in reference to the male owners ignorant comment that Akita's are not social dogs... HIS might not be, but that is TOTALLY the result of how he raised it, not any 'hardwired' attribute of the breed....socialization is something a great many dog owners completely neglict... you dont have to turn your dog into a lapslut, but it shouldnt become cujo either every time someone/thing new shows up..... i'm actually staying with an Akita and 4! cats now... and Jammin (the dog) is more social to the cats, including the newish kitten, than some other visitors that stopped by last week (the city inspector)....guess he has good taste.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

    they swore to give their lives if and when they were called apon to do so.. it is the leadership's responsibility to make sure that their sacrifice is necessary and justified...     and this year if your healthy they are asking you to fore go it if you usually get one.. apparently the UK supplier for 50% of the US's flu vaccinations has contamination issues... there is no shortage for children (its a different vaccine) but they want healthy adults to skip it to leave more for those at higher risk... i wonder if this means the military wont be pushing it they way they did every year when i was in?? ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

    hey you cant mention the history of burlesque without the name Josephine Baker ... you could even argue it goes back to Salome, and before that the rites of Astarte/Ishtar... modern belly dancers like to pretend there is a difference but its not significant... its simply more 'respected' as an art form, while 'stripping' is the commercial variant..... the result is the same... arousal... yet because of the distance of time on form gets respect while the other is vilified... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

    In all seriousness, I dont really agree. I think how one does his/her job does define at least partly that person. That goes for stripping, selling, etc.... I sleazy salesman has less class that a women who strips and who keeps her head on her shoulder doing what she does. ok this i agree with, but its not really what i said either...     see you are supposed to have the one you sign, he should be reading from a copy... he failed to do his job properly in that manner, but stilll I find it hard to believe people 'take anothers word' for something as significant as an enlistment contract...after all its your life you are putting on the line... anyone that does deserves what they get imo... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

    i disagree. I think it has very little to do with the person and more to do with what society expects of you... good job, nice house, 2.5 kids eventually etc... i'd much rather spend my time with someone who recognizes that you have to make some sacrifices to live in the modern world and realizes that a job is a means to an end... your hobbies say much more about you as a person... there are few social forces driving you to skydive for example... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

    i have issues with people who define themselves and others simply by what they do for money... its only money.... I care far more about what you do when you own your own time... that is what defines you as a person for me.... a job is just that, a job... if your one of the lucky few who happens to love what they do for work then that is lovely, but you are the exception, not the rule..... i try not to live my life looking for the exceptions... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
