  1. some one should have been court marshalled for that.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  2. can you repack between jumps or do you only have 1 jump per game ? Or several rigs? 1 jump per rig, but the rigs respawn fairly quickly.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  3. Even when there's scientific and biological basis for one, and absolute proof against the other? _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ There is no proof, "scientific" or otherwise, that the evolution theory is true. Much of the "evidence" has long been discredited. There is no proof that creationism is a fact. There is some evidence, but it is difficult to explain without being accused of "preaching" or "ramming religion down my throat." We're left with two competing theories, neither of which can be proven. In a classroom setting, why would you NOT want your kids exposed to both? The schools should not be in the business of trying to persuade them to accept one or the other. you have issues with the definitions of proof and evidence if you believe that... fortunately belief has nothing to do with the scientific method.... it is simple ignorance to give creationism the same validity as evolution.. anyone who does illustrates they have no understanding of science, the scientific method or the definition of 'theory' either.... evolution is a theory creationism is a belief teaching children they are equally valid perpetuates that ignorance... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  4. Ok, so you'd personally have no problem with this sticker being on your science textbook, right? "This textbook contains material on evolution. Evolution is a theory, not a fact, regarding the origin of living things. This material should be approached with an open mind, studied carefully and critically considered." Not at all, just so long as quantum mechanics and relativity and kinetic theory of gases and continuum mechanics and thermodynamics had similar warning stickers. Shouldn't just pick on any one theory. obviously you cant expect religious fundamentalists to learn enough about science and understand the definition of a theory. "after all, theories are damn dangerous things, we had better be sure to warn everyone before they about to read one, that way i figure they'd have time to stick their fingers in their ears and start the ritual chanting....." maybe we should put warning labels on myths too, as they are equally dangerous. We can start with a mythos sticker for the Bible..... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  5. having been under regular random mortor fire rather recently i'm sorry for your loss, but failure to seek cover when you KNOW you have incomming fire leaves no blame but those under fire..... and not a technological system you 'expect' to work.... "i expect my main to work... i guess i wont bother to bring my reserve..." ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  6. define and show evidence of 'moral fiber'. is it something you can get with your Wheaties? the Environment is easily definable. Shouldnt the State spend its time and energy managing that which is tangibly real rather than getting involved in conjectural religious and moral debates ? once again the zealots must fall back on arguments of belief to justify how they expect you to conduct YOUR life. real issues vs those of the religious imagination. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  7. yes, but it is also a social contract.. to keep the fundamentalists happy ALL 'marriages' should be defined in terms of simple civil, social contracts in the eyes of the law... the church (whichever) can then call that contractual relationship whatever it wants and sanction or not sanction it based on its own religious beliefs..... it is the fundamental legal protections that are important...we have been letting the churches dictate far more legalities on a purely moral basis for far to long... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  8. only if they were an ass about their politics, wanting to argue it constantly in person or attempting to enforce their beliefs on others around... although i have often wondered how some manage to fall stable, consistently pull, and land safely with their head up their 4th point of contact the point in being on the DZ is to jump, play and party. Anything that interferes with those goals i dont have time for while at the dropzone. We can argue about any and everything else when there isnt anything better to do.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

  10. i liked AZ's ballots.. a simple, slightly modified (bigger type and answer block) scantron type sheet... keeps a permanent record of your vote, is easily electronically counted, and anyone who cant figure out how to "connect the brackets" with a simple line shouldnt be voting in the first place.. i dislike systems that would allow someone with NO SENSE of what they are doing (aka touch screens) to be able to vote... in addition, versions of paper forms could easily be printed in braile for the blind... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  11. actually the only thing incorrect about his statement is it should have been "every species develops" now we can argue about 'instincts' as it related to a species, but non human species do maintain equilibrium with the environment, by starvation if necessary. (obviously this is not a conscious choice, but a manifestation of the basic pattern of the species behavior ..aka instinct) humans however change the environment (often in a shortsighted very destructive manner) to adapt to our needs... other species move, die off etc until the environment can support them again… disease, disaster and hunger are in no way bringing the human race to equilibrium with the environment, for the most part we've conquered those factors as well as natural selection and the effects are minimal to the species as a whole... War, Famine, Pestilence and Disease may be the Four horsemen, but a Fifth holds the door open and leads the way in…. Overpopulation… ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  12. I'd agree, but we shouldnt call them "americans' as that is not a race... why cant we just stick with "human" ps. most government employees get really pissy when you do that on all their forms... it doesnt fit into the tiny boxes they have predefined... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  13. slightly off topic.. i designed a small, relatively cheap, fully functional guillotine with a pull activation designed for the user.. I built a prototype and ran a minor marketing campaign under the title "I'm cheaper than Kavorkian". Anyone could assemble for it for themselves and be done with it without all the expensive, smelly chemicals technically if you helped someone build it you could be charged with the same crime as Dr K, but shipping wood, steel, and a bit of cable is perfectly legal. i'd borrowed the idea from Komar and Melamede who build a historic replica for "general use by the people of New York" the only line that really divides euthanasia from suicide is that the subject lacks the means to do it themselves... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  14. nah those pixels shoot back i just cant see the reason in virtual hunting any more than real hunting..... but at least in the virtual world baiting the feild and camping in your treestand isnt really considered 'hunting' ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  15. the are not the same, but they are very similar... for me it essentially comes down to the right to live and die in a manner of my choosing... not anyone else's... the reasons behind each may be very different (and every other individual must/may weigh them for themselves) but the statement, the act is the same... "i've had enough" ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  16. Honestly, I don't know or care, it doesn't matter to me. You're confusing what I'm saying with my religious beliefs. It comes down to some of those that have religious beliefs that homosexuality is immoral believe that immorality is tearing apart the fabric of our country, thus it is their right to believe that homosexuality is wrong and should not be condoned. They're not trying to deny any of the rights given by the Bill of Rights, just trying to protect their contry from an immoral path. Its their right to believe that. even when many of the same religions held the same beliefs about slaves and other 'lesser' races? prejudice and persecution are not rights... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  17. get up top throw a few grenades and dive through the explosions.... i wish i'd had a capture set up... i had no idea you could actually TRACK!!... there are a couple of buildings so far i've landed on... the 'pull your chute' warning seems to depend how far you are above the current 'ground level'.... you can pull pretty low if your over the right spots... to bad there isnt a pool in range for a water landing.... time to go steal a plane and try some extended freeflying... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

  19. I'm a Field/Test Engineer for a defense contractor, I build, test, train and maintain radar and imagery exploitation systems for the government... I also spend a good bit of time training operators on the intel functions related to those systems... it means i get to see ALL the lovely locations around the world... we put radar in some obscure places.... position? top, bottom.. either way i'm easy.... but i did get my 'rigger's ticket' long before i'd heard of skydiving... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  20. Not that I suport the activity in any way, but you can't prove that. oh yea thats right nail guns are a real effiecient, effective means of extermination... why bother if you didnt think it was "cool"... asshats.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  21. Now you are misusing the concept of war.. does one group of primates travel to engage another when they have sufficent resources at their current local? apart from humanity inter-species conflicts do not exist on any level other than competition for territory or resources... Tigers do not come in conflict because of 'personality differences', do not over poach their food supply, or slaughter other animals that no impact on their lives... humans DO all of these things... have you are misapplying the cause behind the action and attempting to personify animals in a manner that is not scientifically sound. find me one example of a species (apart from humanity) intentionally causing the extinction of another species when resources were NOT a consideration? ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

  23. I think you've watched too many Disney movies. Where do you think many of our baser Human behaviors evolved from? i think you fail to understand the nature of evil/cruelty.. our base behavior comes from the actions we take against each other... a individual's greatest threat comes from members of its own species... they are after the same resources... no other species attacks any other in the manner we do... you will never see lions 'waging war' and exterminating cheetas for example... they only compete as individuals when theyre territories overlap and threaten each other... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  24. actually that is a fairly accurate assessment of one element of our overall strategy.. has been from the start, it is always better to force your enemy to fight to your strengths... we've also used it on a smaller tactical scale.. one of the reasons for creating the 'no-go' zones was to draw the enemy into an area where they 'felt safe' and could be attacked in mass vs scattered invisibly throughout the population... the downside is we are creating more enemies everyday using this tactic, as more of the population becomes angered by our continued offensive, the proverbial two-edged sword..... the question is can we win by attrition faster than we recruit for the real insurgents? ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  25. True dat. I kill mosquitos and roaches ruthlessly. nothing hypocritical about that... even the Dali Lama kills insects... he will brush them off once.. after that its simply their chance to 'evolve' ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
