  1. >I haven't actually seen someone jump with swim goggles, I think that in the movie Point Break one of them was jumping with a SCUBA mask and fins. You are correct on everything you said about the swim goggles, thats why in scuba diving we use mask that has the nose part, that way you can put pressure (air) inside the mask preventing that. >when you land the pressure inside the goggles is less than surrounding air pressure As you fall the outside air pressure increases releasing the air inside the goggles making it a better seal (like the bags that are sealed with suction), at this time cause of the fast fall rate and pressure increase you can pop the blood vessels, but most prolly he/she will never feel it but will have a nasty marilyn manson look. Like its air tight sealed the best way to take them off (if you are crazy enough to use them) is to let air inside the goggles before trying to take them out, or else you might get injured very badly if you pull them off with all your might (try to imagine it). and you might get a good 12K freefall fog, no air in means no way to defog. But thats only words and theory, we need a test subject to see how close to the truth me and the books are. HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com
  2. >Many skydiving pilots think skydivers want altitude above all else A lot of skydivers want the more altitude, skydivers must be aware of the dangers of hipoxia and realize its not a funny thing. HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com
  3. You are right billvon, why jump with something that you will not need in the sky, watch (what for its only a 60 sec. freefall), earrings (who's looking). HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com

  8. Be sure to get a ZP. Read all the reviews on the canopies that Jimbo posted (the dz.com reviews are great) and you should have a good sight of what you want/need. I read a lot of reviews and ended up with the spectre cause of the soft opening (almost broke my neck years ago so I couldn't afford a hard opening canopy), its very good canopy and easy to pack and people prefer 7cell for CReW (you can keep it for CReW when you downsize again). 11. compare skydiving to driving a car, every day you get more than a 100 car accidents and more than 300 deads, in skydiving you get almost close to nothing it is so low that is hard to make the statistic. Email USPA to see if they can help you with stats, or use the stats they have in theyr webpage and compare it with others. HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com
  12. Like people say: Fly it all the way down, a flare turn might of help you, also a flat turn a lil bit higher would of work too. PLF helps alot, never broken a bone thanks to PLF. wingload of 0.65? just out of curiosity do you get backward movement? I really hated that when I was using student rig. 14. 0:3:2 3: first jump was a great 2-way, second one was a 2-way that came not so good (I sucked at this one), third one was a good stable sit only minor problem was that I almost got out of my legstrap at 7k (read the safety forum its under scary ride). 2: First jump with my new jumpsuit and first jump with booties and made a perfect accuracy landing. 15. $4.25??? wow expensive, here you can get them at $1.30 the 20 pack and $0.75 the 10 pack (marlboro). Congrats for the quiting, trying to do the same, now only smoke on sundays and when heavy drinking is involve. HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com
  16. Today on my last jump I made a fun jump, tried to do a sit but here is what happened: came out of the plane nice exit, then went for the sit and came out great, in my opinion I think I didn't slide, from time to time I checked down the earth between my legs to see if I was sliding, and on my last check came the scary thing (almost left a stain in my boxers) the left leg strap was all the way down reaching my ankle! that thing scared tha hell out of me (falling from my rig at 7k not fun), without thinking straight and transition back to the belly position I made a loop, a roll and ended up in back to earth, after switching back to belly to earth the rest of the ride was stable belly all the way from 6k to 3k and very scared. Lucky everything came out ok, but I think I would of prevented all that if I would of used a proper freeflying friendly rig and have the legstraps tied together. I was jumping a dolphin. be safe.
  17. My newbie opinion is packing, also check out the line trim like Clay said, and check the control lines to see if they are twisted. HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com
  18. I'll go with: Number of Jumps: Jumps last year: Wing Loading: the others I would add are: depending on how much jumps he says, I would ask him: How do you know everything you are saying? if he answers something like "thats what I think" I would take all his advices with a lot of grains of salt. Another good thing to ask (I think) is What are the formations you have done and how many points? and if its always with the same team or with random people, if you can do RW with anybody and not just your teammates then you must be good. 21. I usually break and track at 4k I like to make a long track to be sure am clear of everybody and my opening are usually 3K and sometimes I get 2.5K. Hey tooueay do the other skydivers know that you pull that high? be sure to tell them everytime you get on the plane, most people don't expect for someone to open that high.
