First of all I would like to ask everybody to STOP posting, talking, writing etc. speculations about Tom Piras accident because you are getting it VERY WRONG and are making others look guilty when it was an accident that could of happen to any of us in those days. I know the people that were in the plane with Piras (Tom was coaching them), they jump with me every sunday and they are now very talented instructors and jumpers (They where even invited to 300-way world attempts). From what they have told me Tom Piras had his cypres on, but he forgot to set the altitude of the DZ they where going to land (they left from different airports) so he asked one of the skydivers on the plane to please turn the cypres off because without the proper altitude his cypress would fire to high and cause an accident (He did not said "its only a 4-way", he said "I don't want to get a premature reserve deployment cause of a cypres fire and cause an accident with one of you"). From the video you can see that on his coaching jump somebody went low and unfortunately got a premature deployment (dunno if it was the main or the reserve, but I think I heard that it was the AAD that fired can't remember what brand), Tom hitted the canopy below him with his legs and hitted his head with my friends legs (my friend had his legs numb for a whole week, he even had to go to the doctor), Tom fainted and when the cameraman saw that he tried to reach him to pull his main or reserve but everytime he tried to reach the handle his wings filled with air and kept going up. From EYE witness Tom Piras was knocked out (arms and legs extended all the way up no sign of muscle tension, muscles completely relaxed) all the way to the floor. It was a sad day for everybody, my friend stoped jumping and entered in a depress state of mind for a year or more, some of Tom Piras friends (I think that Tom's wife too) came to talk to him and tell him that its ok, it was an accident nobody could of prevented that. After another while he started skydiving again and now is one of the best. Speculations and hypothesis: now that you know what really happen to Tom what do you think? the cypres would of save him? some think that he broke his neck when he hitted the other skydiver legs; others think that the reserve would of save him. Answer: we will never know. Tom Piras background from stories I have heard: he was one of the best in his time, one of the few to have thousands of jumps in those days, he knew how to fly his body in a way that everybody was amazed, a very good coach and friend. He thought that safety was everything. sorry for the out of topic post. I could of start another thread but I don't think I have the right to start a thread about that accident, just posted it here so I could explain others. Please accept my apologies. May you have Blue Skies Tom! P.S. If you don't believe anything I have said, please look at the video and you will have an idea of how right I am. About the conversation on the plane I heard it first hand from the skydivers who were in the plane with him, and they told me that with a tear in theyr eyes. Any Q's PM me and I'll try to get you an answer. HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com

Everything is related, for using a computer you need some IQ, but for posting on dropzone.com you need a working computer so you ask about computer help, will get answers then use your IQ to fix it and start posting again at dz.com and as we all know dz.com is skydiving. So that equals IQ --> computer --> dropzone.com --> skydiving. HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com

Hey Luna you had a great dive, you even pull the ripcord by yourself! WOOHOO!! don't worry about the altitude awareness, it will come in time. The altimeter moving? not to worry, tight the strap a lil bit more. On one jump I made with a huge strap altimeter I had to grab the altimeter with my thumb so that I could see it, then the owner of it told me a different way to put it on, Ask the instructor before going up again and he will tell you a trick or something. Congrats for the jump! Blue Skies! HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com

the web page is www.skyrats.com I think you will have some trouble geting a reply from them, they are kinda busy organizing the FAI competition that is soon to happen. You might have a better deal by calling them. It's a nice place I heard, you can see skydivers from all over town, hotels are a walk from the dz and you get discount if you are a skydiver. What the monkey said was right, you need AAD. HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com

For RW you will need tight, spandex and nylon. Tight equals don't take measures adding a mm or 1/4 inch because of comfort, that lil extra will give you the drag you don't want. You should also be thinking of buying a weight belt or a weight vest, if its vest what you want then you should make the measure with the vest on, so you wont suffocate for been to tight. I prefer weight belts, you can wear them outside the jumpsuit and personal opinion (salt here) it helps with the arch. Some people might say NO to the weights but gotta tell ya after a couple of jumps arching like crazy to meet fall rates it hurts the back and makes the movements kinda dumb (grain on salt on the movements dumb, its another personal opinion). Best thing to do is to email or call the boogie organizer and ask them if you are allowed with your experience. From what I have seen (internet, and posts, never been in a boogie) is that they accomodate newbies with some coaches and make them land in the newbies section. Take this last paragraph with a grain of salt. HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com

Before I toasted my eyes, I had to wear normal fat ass big frame glasses (hey they were free, not gonna spend a 100$ for new glasses and only use it for 2-3 weeks ) because I had to relax my eyes (had been using contacts for a lot of time) and when I tried the Z1 so I could jump I coulnd't closed the visor, the frame was huge so I had to use those big goggles. You might be right about the head shape too, I have a kinda big round head . All Z1 sizes fits kinda tight even the new XL one, Bone head is better. HAHAHA, I know I was the worst at my dz, correction was -6.25, if you saw my 2 week glasses you could of seen my eyes grow about 2 or 3 times bigger of normal size, kinda funny to look at, looked like the worm on the cartoons that uses glasses and his eyes look huge. glasses were nice, contacts were good, lasik is GREAT! edit line: I only have 21 years old, its cool to stop wearing contacts after 7 years and before that it was 6 years wearing glasses, 14 years total. If you can burn your eyes, lasik is the way.

I agree with Bill Von, I thought I was making good tracks bet when I saw a video of me doing a 2 way and 180° then track I saw that I moving almost nothing I didn't even left the frame of the camera when I dumped. Conclusion: I wasn't traking, I was doing Delta instead. Advice: get somebody to watch you track. HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com

or laser? An eyeglass with a very small kinda oval or round frame will work good inside a Z1, pay the extra buck to make the lense extra thin. HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com

HAHA I like your story PLFXpert, happened to me too. A buddy at my club sold me his dolphin (only had about 20 jumps) but the container was a D4 and the main I was going to put in was a 150, yep the container is huge for the 150 (for 150 you need a D1)(tight closing loop fixed it). Now I jump with a huge container in my back (looks like a tandem on video). Only good thing is that I got a good deal. HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com

I have the same problem with the legstrap, they are to long, but hey it was cheap and it fits. I bought it 650$ with the reserve, can you find a better deal? Measure your height, inseam and weight, send an email to the manufacturer you that makes the rig you want and ask what size of harness they recommend, or send email to every online gearstore there is, but remember to send the size of your height, inseam and weight.
