my Boss said he hopes my parachute doesnt open!!!
ianmdrennan replied to linny's topic in The Bonfire
Bullshit. He didn't say HE was going to do anything. He said he HOPED. There is a difference between being an asshole and threatening someone elses life. I'd still like to hear from Linny, what she did to him (unbiased please). Funny how no-one wonders what she said/did to elicit this response. No offense linny, but while what that guy said was definately in the asshole category, but it doesn't sound like you're exactly innocent here either. Care to give the FACTS of both sides of the story? Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team -

ianmdrennan replied to linny's topic in The Bonfire
No it's not "time to burn him". Based on the exchange it appears that both sides have wronged one another. If that's the case, how do you know that what she did wasn't just as bad, but being left outta the story? There are definately 2 sides to this one. Both involve HUMANS who make mistakes. I agree with a civil, face to face discussion first. If that gets them no-where then fine, move to harsher actions, but to jump around and be so reactionary is BS. Haven't you ever gotten screwed by someone and reacted badly? I know I have. I know I've said things to my wife who I love dearly that were downright mean out of anger. Point is we're people, and there's more to this story than meets the eye IMO. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team -
If possible would your boyfriend be able to post the video to skydivingmovies.com? I'd love to see the tribute, and it appears many others would as well. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team

It easily gets the same distance as the XF2 back from spots - a teammate and myself did a hop n pop this weekend while I was evaluating my wifes new Katana 107 (he's on a xf2 109) at similar wingloadings and I easily outdrove him. So much so that he commented on it. I'll be posting a review soon (I was very impressed). EDIT: This IS NOT an intermediate canopy - it's dive characteristics were incredibly close to a velocity (much more so than I expected). Blues Ian Performance Designs Factory Team

Do you worry about how you'd react to a malfunction?
ianmdrennan replied to Evelyn's topic in Safety and Training
Normal concern, just keep practicing it. Word of caution though - practice the drill at a reasonable speed. I used to practice the drill really quickly (peel, peel, punch, punch) and when I had my baglock I did the procedure at that speed. Nothing eventful happened but I think back and wonder what would have happened if my han slipped off my cutaway and fired my reserve prematurely. It's good to practice it at the speed you intend to do it as you're most likely to do it that exact way (or faster) when you need it. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team -
We Have Our First Summer Box Office Cat-astrophe...heh

Come on Nathan. I know you're smarter than that. As for catwoman. It was apparent, quite early, that this was going to be about as entertaining as watching a cat throw up a hairball. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team -
Good advice Chuck, thanks. I plan on spending all friday afternoon and sat morning practicing before I make any declared runs even though we've been doing the 10 ft carve courses on the Florida tour, I stillwant to be nice and cozy before throwing down the gloves. Thanks again. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team

Looks like a pretty good list except one thing: Last I checked neptune was 40 dollars cheaper than a protrack. The Protrack was running around 289 and the neptune around 249. Otherwise the rest seems pretty good although I'm up to almost 300 jumps on my neptune and still reading a full battery. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team

Absolutely. I had a similar conversation with Dave Brown, with similar results They're right though, so many people rush off to HD once they get the basics of sit down. Many don't even try stand flying, let alone taking grips. With team training, I've been trying to take the sit/stand slot as much as possible. I like the idea of being able to comfortably sting a HD formation in a sit/stand. Definately! I know more than a couple of people who can run rings around a lot of people on their head, but can't even hold a solid/stable sit. Omar is one hell of a stand flyer, you're lucky to have him around for questions

I'll be there late friday afternoon. I plan on spending the whole weekend having a blast with you guys while I try and qualify. Can't wait. Blues and safe swoops, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team

I know no-one ever wants to hear this, but get proficient in your sit first. You'll regret neglecting it eventually. Launch on your head all you want, but make sure you get the sit/stand down (and once you do keep working on it) Otherwise that thread has some good pointers. There is a serious shortage of GOOD sit/stand flyers. It's also WAY harder to do well (I'm talking multi point dives here) than HD You'd be surprised how many of the "big boys" are going back and working on their sit/stand stuff. Hey Jim, Helos is DC are the hardest to fly. In BFV they've really *dumbed* them down so that just about anyone can fly them well. Pity cause I liked the challenge of the DC choppers. When we play, I'll give you some flying tips. They definately take the longest to learn in the game. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team

Those can definately be ordered for the Icon when you buy it. It's an option that you didn't chose (it appears) so I don't think it's fair to make that a negative. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
