COOL! I needed to know that one! Hey what about getting gum out of clothing. I seem to remember something similar from when my kids were little, but I don't remember it now that my adult son washed his brand new cubs jersey with a pack of gum in the pocket... skydiveTaylorville.org freefallbeth@yahoo.com

Come and buy it at the Convention, and you will probably save enough to pay for your admission because the manufacturers have terrific specials at the WFFC. At least that is what Patrick did last year, and he was incredibly impressed with the savings he negotiated. skydiveTaylorville.org freefallbeth@yahoo.com -
I've always heard that acetone (fingernail polish remover) would dissolve superglue. I have no idea what it would do to the finish of the wood, though... It will take off any finish faster than you can say "ah shit!" and it's really really thin, so it will spread further than you wanted it to, and take off LOTS more than you thought it would. If you put it on a rag and try to rub with it, it will soften up whatever surface you are rubbing and pieces of lint from the rag wiil be stuck in the old finish. I've done LOTS of furniture repair and restoration, and I was a violin/guitar maker for 26 years, doing all kinds of repair for that time, so I've had my share of dissolvent experience. The rule of thumb in removing an unknown substance on an instrument finish is ALWAYS start out with the LEAST damaging method and work your way up to the MOST. Acetone is the most. skydiveTaylorville.org freefallbeth@yahoo.com

DON'T USE SUPER GLUE REMOVER! It will take off the finish of your counter top. Don't use Fornby's unless you plan to refinish the ENTIRE top. The best way to do it is to allow it to dry completely, which happened even before this was typed. Then take an exacto knife and carefully find an edge to the bit of glue, and it will pop off. Just careful place the knife between the edge of the glue and the counter top. Believe me, I had to remove it from someones very expensive violin one time, and this was the ONLY way to do it, without destroying the finish on the entire top of the instrument. Why they had ever used super glue was beyond me skydiveTaylorville.org freefallbeth@yahoo.com

Get some 0000 steel wool, and a good polish like horn's polish, and scrub like crazy WITH the grain to take off the old crud that is built up. As you go, use a soft cloth to clean up the gook that is coming off, and to buff the floor. When you get down to the original finish ( and eventually, you will) clean it weekly with nothing but endust sprayed on a rag. Voila! Beautiful! But truely, renting a drum sander and refinishing it is only a two day project, and in a small space wouldn't be expensive to have done for you if you are a woos about it. I had my 12x14 100 year old kitchen floor done for $250.00 and it's fabulous skydiveTaylorville.org freefallbeth@yahoo.com

WFFC, where do you leave your stuff while you jump?
Snowwhite replied to Hazarrd's topic in Events & Places to Jump
hey! I wondered where those pillows came from! I slept on one of them on Sunday night! Some of that junk made it's way over to the hangar. If it hasn't been absconded with by the time I get back to Rantoul, I'll add it to your tent! skydiveTaylorville.org freefallbeth@yahoo.com -
Just got off of the phone with Diamante, spoke to Pepe earlier today. Man you guys have me PUMPED! Keep the adrenaline coming, I'm putting up 51 tents this weekend, and I need to keep the troops STOKED! They kicked ass putting up fence last weekend! 7 miles of that stuff when up like butter in the 105 degree heat! Figures that the temp would drop today, after we have all gone home. Rantoul had some nice rain and the landing area grass is nice and green and soft. See you soon! skydiveTaylorville.org freefallbeth@yahoo.com

At one time I had four Newfoundlands. TAlk about HAIR! We helped a buddy out, and took in his Chow that he had rescued from an ASPCA. It got hit by a truck, shattered its hip. SWEET dog. but he was raised by a sweet guy, and then taken in by us, SWEET people. The trick to dog raising, ANY dog, is to let it know that you are ALPHA and he/she is NOT. They must know this from the time they are puppies, because they are pack animals. There will be an alpha. If you let it be him/her, it will be. You don't have to be mean, just the boss. I have raised a bunch of show dogs, both conformation and utilty (working) dogs. TAKE a dog training class from someone who has raised a dog or two that has working degree. Then you know they have successfully trained dogs, and are qualified to help you train yours. Or better yet, find a book by the late Jack Godsell. Masterful trainer, of all kinds of breeds, all kinds of working classes. Read it BEFORE you buy your puppy. He used to say "these are pack animals, not little people in furry coats" skydiveTaylorville.org freefallbeth@yahoo.com

yup the website is down. But would you rather have us spend our time in the office, or out on the field putting up the tents, fence and mobile offices that make up the convention? Well, seven MILES of fence went up this weekend in that blistering heat wave we had, and now the temp has dropped 15 degrees, and the tent guy just delivered his first load of tents. The manifest trailer is in place, and looks lonely without a bunch of you leaning on the railing, asking for tickets. Airboss tower will be erected this week, while the tents are being installed, and the telephone pole that is at the end of manifest went in yesterday for all the good connectivity that we need. This weekend, the little village of Rantoul will be overrun with the first big wave of volunteers who will show up to finish set up and run the convention. If you feel like coming a few days early, and being a part of the fun/work, PM me, and I'll send you my phone number. We have a great time, work hard all day, party at night, and sleep in airconditioning in a BIG room together, so you won't die of the heat, or have to find a place to stay. skydiveTaylorville.org freefallbeth@yahoo.com

I had a friend who was bitten by one, they had to surgically remove a chunk of his leg to stop the spread of the rot. I was bitten by one, and a chunk of my tissue would fester, turn bright red, about the size of a quarter the first time, the size of a dime a half dozen additional times. Each time it would swell up, then crust over, itch like crazy, then fall off. Did this for about a year, then went away. skydiveTaylorville.org freefallbeth@yahoo.com

I know of a ride coming out of Dothan Alabama, if someone is needing one, and I know of someone needing a ride on a plane (anyone flying their own) from the DC area. PM me if you want to join either one of these people. I can vouch for them,,,,,HA! skydiveTaylorville.org freefallbeth@yahoo.com

WFFC, where do you leave your stuff while you jump?
Snowwhite replied to Hazarrd's topic in Events & Places to Jump
well, I can't imagine that cars can park closee enough to the boarding area where I'll want my second rig to be, but thanks for the advice. if i'm going to be paying a packer all day, I assume I could just leave my stuff by them? Best bet is to park your car on Main street, leave your stuff in it. Hitch a ride on one of our shuttles, which I PROMISE will be better marked than last year, and have the shuttle driver deliver you where ever you want to go. Then when you land, look for a shuttle driver to take you back to your car. NO problem! skydiveTaylorville.org freefallbeth@yahoo.com -
