Not to mention perched on your very own car. As far as the Bald Eagle being a protected bird, that will always be as it is the national bird. Their population is increasing and is not considered to be endangered anymore. We are lucky to live on the Mississippi River, right at Iowa/Illinois where the Eagles choose to make their winter home. It's nothing to see 20 to 30 of them fishing at one time. One day I was working on a clients property, up on a ridge and this HUGE shadow came over me. Really people, if you are going to buy anything, do it in town. this shot in the arm/boost to the local economy is what will keep the convention there. Trust me, we want to keep it there! Rev Jim is right! If you have a stamp with your dz on it, stamp your cash so the locals see the effect on their economy. If you don't have a stamp, look me up at registration, I have a little skydiver dude I carry in my purse to stamp my cash with. When they see that little skydiver still floating the FOLLOWING March, it is pretty obvious that we were there, and helping them. BTW, the only real objector on their city council said that she hadn't seen ANY economic benefit! Boy did we prove her wrong! And those bills are STILL floating. Ok, if my stupid computer will let me do this, here is my response. I GET SERIOUSLY DEPRESSED WITHOUT SUNSHINE. I know what you are going thru. I volunteered to work a few hours in the public parks greenhouses. Helps being around green and growing things. Also, a couple of minutes every few days in a sunbed will perk you up. Something in there is the same as in sunshine, and will get the endorphines up, and EXERCISE, lots of exercise. Sex is a good one. One year we had 0 days of sunshine from Christmas to good Friday. MAN I GET DEPRESSED WITH NO SUN! I started volunteering in a public park greenhouse a couple hours a week just to be around the green things. Try spending some time in a tanning bed, no lie! You need whatever the sun has in it, and you can get a little from the bed. It will perk you up just a bit, sometimes just a bit will keep you from thinking about suicide... It's been suggested and it's on the list. Basically have an extra 6 person cart in addition to the one for the tandems to drive the experienced people back and forth. HEY FOLKS, just wanted to reply to a couple of things, being the one who was at that meeting and actually knows what was said by whom. 5.buck charge to campers. It will be paid by the convention. It will be charged to the convention, and there is no plan to change the fee to the skydivers. This will be charged to the convention organizers based on the number of RV's Campers and Motor home type vehicles in the RV area. Tents are not included in the equation. Tent camping in the rough has always been free. Showers/toilets are in the works at the airport. The village is currently going through the bidding process, and hopes to have REAL SHOWERS WITH HOT AND COLD WATER installed by August. This is NOT JUST FOR US. They have several different events that attract large crowds, and hopefully as MICHAEL points out, we will respect their property, and report anyone who doesn't, so those are the people who pay for their own damage, not the rest of us, in future price increases. SHUTTLES: we had about 20 shuttles there each day. WHEW! WHAT A BIG PLACE. We need LOTS more, and we know it! We are working to add many more, but we need trucks, and drivers, and or golf carts and drivers, depending on the routes. If you are bringing a whuffo with you, or you take a 'no jump' day, come and find ME, at the registration area. I will put you in a vehicle, if you don't have your own. My own truck was the green chevy with the 'fly120' license plate that picked many of you up from out landings. Allso, all of our volunteers and staff members have STRICT instructions, that if they are on a golf cart that is paid for by the Convention, it should always be in use as a shuttle. So if you see a 'staff' t shirt, ask for a ride. I was the one with 6 skydivers at all time on my 2 man golf cart. Both Great choices of dogs. (Both breeds are bred down from Newfoundlands.) We used to raise Newfoundlands. They rescue by instinct. Frustrating when trying to bathe a bunch of little kids. [ BWAAAAAHAHAHA!!!! Tale time...a few friends and myself secured a jar of Vicks vaseline and a jar of Vaporub just before another friend got married. We snuck into his luggage, stole his jar of vaseline, emptied it, refilled it with Vaporub and heated it to make it look new (smooth shiny top). When asked to house sit for friends, we filled about 5 dozen condoms with mayonaise, and hid them all over their house, and garage. They found them for years!
