Got to eat and sleep more than I ever have at any previous convention, cuz of the weather. Got to listen to my honey carry on about his jumps, that was terrific. Got to spend a couple of different times in the DZ.com tent (thanks for the hospitality guys!) even if I could only stay for 30 seconds at a time..btw, who is babysitting my bottle of maragarita mix? Maybe we'll get to drink it together next year. Got totally drenched to the skin trying to get all of you guys to hangar 2 in the big storm, and then got to be interviewed on tv, looking that way. Got to explain to the press that our 'demo jump team' has a really good sense of humor, and that they just wanted to see who was paying attention to their landing (when you decided to land 4 blocks off the spot during opening ceremonies) Got to tease Gimp when he landed out for the second time in the same day....2300 acres and he couldn't hit ONE! Darn, I missed him in the buff, but I'll look forward to it for next year. Today there are 22 nationalities that will be attempting to do an international challenge. Our previous record is 17. I will update with names and nationalities after I get them later this morning. As far as manifesting, we have a unique way of doing our ticket sales/manifest. You buy your ticket at the window, you can go to any of our free organizing tents, if you want or need to. You then choose the aircraft you want to board, and a golf cart runs you out to the loading tent of your choice. Our aim is to keep your wait time as low as possible. I just noticed that Streaker didn't make the list, would someone add him please? He will be manning the microphone in the tandem area, so when you land in the spectator area give him a big hug and kiss for me. Ok, you GUYS can just tell him 'hey' He likes to interview people on that Microphone, and he is on it like 10 to12 hours a day, has a lot of time to talk, so stop and tell him how awesome your jump was. Hey! I'm glad you guys brought this up! This year there is gonna be a 'decorate your golf cart, bicycle, tricycle, barbeque grill PARADE at the WFFC. Check out the message board at www.freefall.com. If there isn't TOO much nakedness, we may parade the whole area, including the spectator area. Chris And now that bike is referred to as the "company vehicle" at our dz. I think I'll buy a second "company vehicle" this year. I was going to ask about this today in a new thread - but Ill ask here first. I'm not sure how much room I will have in my car after the tent, rig, etc is in there.....I would like to bring some of my own food with me just to keep things affordable. I know I passed a Wal-Mart coming back from my balloon jump, but I didn't see too much else in town outside of the gas station and video store. Is there a map or listing of all the local stores in Rantoul so I know if I can buy some of this stuff while I am there? I asked the Chamber to do this last year, but they were without a director, no director, no direction. They are supposed to be working on one for this year, I know that the local businesses were much more excited after having the experience of the WFFC last year Anyway, I have a meeting with the director of the Chamber on Fri. Is there some whuffo wifeo that will keep an eye on things on your dz, while you are jumping? Seriously, I have kept an eye out for kids that age while the folks are enjoying the day. Everybody on the same dz at the same time, but no sweat for the jumpers, and meals are watched out for, etc. Check it out, I'll bet you'll find a me on your dz, then you can have the best of both worlds. If there were ever need for emergency vehicles, I would take said kids out of the area til things are back to normal, no matter who the emt's had been called to help. Just to let you know,,,we have this request from tandem jumpers every year, and NO tandem passengers are not allowed into the tent city. We have a strict policy, 50 free fall jumps minimum to get in. You must show your log book to prove this. If however, you have a skydiving buddy who will be going, and will sign off on you attending, plan on paying your $59.00 fee, and come as a guest.
