    Just a thought, If I were going to carry a weapon for self defense I would load it with a mass produced reliable ammunition that most closely matches the ammunition that the local Law Enforcement uses. I would avoid a hand load because if I am ever forced to use it in the cause of self defense it will be difficult for anyone to suggest I was using excessive force. A hand load could pretty easily be explained to an ignorant jury as a pretty bad thing. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

    If the student had been solo they wouldn't have had the problem. A student and an instructor hanging on each side is a MASSIVE burble. This is why after the pin has cleard the loop the mainside should turn and track while the reserve side rides through.... ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are.     Dave, I agree with much of your rant, however I would like to point out there is a USPA STAFF that is trying to cut costs and run an efficient business, and they work very hard at it. On the other hand there is a USPA BOD that sometimes helps with that, and sometimes hurts that effort. Just something to remember when people get up in arms about what the "USPA" does. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

Maybe you should check out the facts about this "lady" before getting all indignant on her behalf. And where exactly are your "facts" from?     There really shouldn't be any confusion. On the card where ever it has an "I" that requires an instructor. "C" Coach, "P" Pilot, "R" Rigger. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

    We talked about the non- US DZ's last time, I imagine that modifications will be made, but we'll see. As for US compliance, and enforcements of GM and membership, well I'll be watching the RD committee meeting to see what happens there. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are.     It is an instructional rating, it is not the rating of an instructor. A Coach should be considered an apprentice to an instructor. On the two page care I can't remember much if anything that can be signed off by a coach, the 4 page card is a better resource for both instructor and student as it is more comprehensive. A coach really must work under the supervision of an instructor(s) to maintain the quality and standards of information and training. Usually if it's not already on an agenda it's not eligible for discussion but I'll see what the powers that be say. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are.     The balloon in question is a "ride", helium is the lifting source and it is controlled through the operation of the winch and steel cable teathering it to the ground. Max height is about 400 feet. It is highly likely the jumper has committed no crime. He was not trespassing if he had paid admittance to the ride, and the FAR that bans parachuting over congested areas does not apply since there was no aircraft involved, and the jumper probably can't be considered the pilot in command, probably not even holding a certificate. Any "reckless endangerment' charge would be trumped up at best. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
