  1. I pose a new solution. Hand deploy reserves. Who wants to build me one?
  2. Remember, most of these hesitation, or container/loop lock problems have been on ultra small, overstuffed container combinations. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  3. There are countries where the cutter location is set by their laws? I have heard rumor, and rumor only that the French Authority on parachuting has made a ruling on rigs with cutters below the pilot chute. I'm not looking hard but am looking for a confirmation on the matter.... ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  4. This is yet another reason why a US resident ordering a jumpsuit from a company outside this country is just silly. Add the customs charges, and the problems you'll have if it doesn't fit the first time and the amount spent is retarded. Deal local, you'll get better service, and a personal hand in making sure the product is what you want. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  5. I haven't heard this from any official source, but I think the change does make the rig legal to jump in some other countries..... ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  6. I encourage people to resist the making of skydiving into a "Nerf world" simply because this is one sport where no one should play without understanding the risk. Show me where tandems students not wearing a hard shell helmet has been a problem. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  7. Ahhh, thanks for the excellent mnemonic.
  8. Also remember those cloud clearances are for 10,000 MSL and lower. Above 10,000 MSL, its' "F-111" or, five miles visibility, 1000 above, 1000 below, and 1 mile horizontal. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  9. He and his son have made skydives. The actually wanted to hire me to coach them in wingsuits at one point, but they didn't want to make 200 skydives to get there.....IIRC they had about a dozen each. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  10. I've got more than a dozen breakaways on skyhook equipped rigs and on two of them the skyhool disengaged and a "standard" RSL deployment was the result. I would never bet on a skyhook to work 100% of the time, and I would never make a decision assuming it will. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  11. Only on dz.com could you post like this to prove you don't know what you don't know. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  12. It does have only two fans, however I would say I've had no problem freeflying in it. It is small for sure, and the all glass (plexi) design can make doe some disorienting spells when hucking maneuvers. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  13. Contact Randy Ottinger at USPA HQ. He's our government relations director, and he can help you through the process.... ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  14. Yep, at Action Air Parachutes, located on the DZ at SkyDance Skydiving. www.actionair.com www.skydance.net ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  15. Hey chick, you can always do what I did and Rent a car and go to REI and buy some Camping kit, Tent bed etc.. Shit like that is cheap as hell in the states, and it will work out WAY cheaper than the Campervan. I jusat buy a bigish tent and leave it with friends when i go. Try Walmart if you're really just going to get rid of it. You'll save a fortune. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  16. Excellent. You've just summed up the reason most laws restricting firearms are useless at preventing crime. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  17. Yes. A collapsed drogue has near the same drag as a large pilot chute. On the other hand if you ever suffer an opening where the drogue kill line breaks and deployment happens with a fully inflated drogue, well you'll know it. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  18. What a crock. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  19. Right now I'd be overjoyed to be that flight instructor. Or better yet, solo in a plane spraying crops.... ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  20. And yet again, people will ignore the sub standard aircraft and safety in quest of a "cheap" jump. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  21. RSL's have larger chance of saving a life than an AAD. They are only about $25. Why so much focus on the AAD? ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  22. Because no device is infallible. And I'm a cheap bastard. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  23. Do you wear an RSL on your rig as well? ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  24. FWIW I've always seen Caravan and PAC pilots wear rigs. Otters and SkyVans not so much... ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  25. Short answer is yes. However I think I'm changing my mind on this one. For the vast majority of people with a camera on their head an RSL is not a problem. For a "camera flier" (i.e. someone who has a whole bunch of hardware out there that poses a major snag factor then an RSL may be a bad idea. Overall I think I would recommend ALL skydivers keep an RSL installed on their system. Why? Well there is much debate on the issue of how many fatalities in the entire history of parachuting can be attributed to an RSL. Is it one, or two? What there is no debate about is the recurring theme of people breaking away from malfunctions and then not getting a reserve out before impact. It happens EVERY year, frequently more than once. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
