try to eliminate the router as being the stopping point... if you have a modem that is connected to the router via cat-5, remove it from the router, plug it in to the xbox (assuming that you have cable, dsl is sometimes a bitch to setup like this) if it logs in, then you know you need to work on the router, if it doesnt, you have eliminated the router as being the current problem. i always recommend troubleshooting with wires and not wireless... just another link in the chain that you can remove to get to the source easier FWIW when I connected my xbox to my linksys router, it pulled the ip address, and worked immediatly. That's why on transactions in person, like when I sold my truck, I requested a state or federal issued ID or DL. I then wrote the information down, name, address, DOB and DL# so I can file charges if I get screwed.
