IIRC most engine failures occur on or just after takeoff... too low to bail and expect the canopy to open. If you have the air speed you can get out pretty low. Trade the speed for altitude and open horizontally. Sparky Im guessing in an engine out soon after take off, you probably aren't at top speed, especially once the pilot tells you to bail and you get unbuckled and the door open... But, I wouldn't know. Actually, I don't.... I was just rambling. :) As far as whether or not people want to pay for it, your point is taken. I came across some cameras claiming HD quality and were the size of a pen. It just got me thinking of miniature, high quality cameras and whether or not they have ever been used in skydiving, that's all. Also, the point of the miniature camera (if there is/was/will be one), would be so you wouldn't have to redesign your helmet every 3 months, and you could continue to sell high quility photos. Now where is that wheel.... A tiny camera could very well do HD quality video, but a tiny camera=tiny sensor, so low light would suck among many other things I'm sure. You could probably hack the hell out of a P&S camera and make it fit, but you likely would never get the quality of a decent DSLR. There is a reason people jump them ya know. If their coach course was anything like mine, they would probably fail. My instructor made it his mission in life to set me up so he could hit me in a full track or get under me and have me fall on him, I doubt someone with a handfull of actual RW type jumps would have been able to avoid all of those tricks. Plenty of coaches don't wear cameras, and its not needed. The coach just has to remember what and when you did things, same as an AFF-I. I do agree that video can be extremely usefull, however, it shouldn't be required. They probably don't expect many of those signal geeks down at Ft Gordon to keep coming back. WoW is cheaper than skydiving. Probably not! They knew I was an MP and former combat arms going into it though. I try not to stereotype too much though cuz there's a couple of Air Force guys who are pretty hard core jumpers too. And I knew you weren't being harsh either. They knew you were an MP and they continued to let you jump there? Sketchy... Same thing with trucks, if you look between the bed and the cab, you can usually see the vents. On both of my Chevy trucks, there is 2 vents about the size he described with the 1-way valve in them. How about motorcycles?? There is a big valve that allows air to pass freely from one side to another, this valve is located on and just above the riders neck. Just fucking with yall, I got no problem with riders. Coaches can only sign a few places on the 4 page card... that is all. An instructor should definitely be consulted throughout the progression and sign off most things. I just wanted to give a bit of a guideline, a starting point if you will. Some students, myself included, didn't start on the A card immediately and I WISH I had read about it or someone had told me about it sooner. I used the 4 page card and gave thought to the possibility that the OP could end up using it too. Im surprised, I had my a-card in hand around aff-1 or 2 I'd like to ammend my previous statement: Coaches can only sign a few places on the 4 page card, unless they're a ticketed rigger or pilot.
