    Capital Idea! A 1.8" SSD with a ZIF connection (like the KingSpec SSD) should do the trick since the XR500 uses a 1.8" Toshiba HDD with a ZIF connection. They seam to be readily available on ebay. I'll purchase one next week and try it out. Let me know how it works out.     Immarsats are slow, Iridiums are even slower. Sure, you can STREAM ($$$$$) a whopping 256k connection with the right hardware, that would still be some pretty slow porn after a couple hops. These systems are used widely as a mobile communications platform, but for just about anything other than email and some light web browsing, they plain ol suck! Interesting concept to use them as a mesh network, even if you have a cell tower in a box, general range is only a couple of miles, spread that across some of the less populated cities, and that would defeat the idea of using a mesh. Not even going to get into how easy some govts could identify the systems, and track it down to just about which house it is in a matter of hours.     I don't know what kind of hard drive it is, but if you could find a compatable flash drive (much like newer laptops are being offered with SSD's) and replace it with one, you might be on to something.     I had a demo Spectre that opened WAY harder than my Sabre2... I think I put 5 jumps on it, and gave it back early. Dacron lines would've made a huge difference. Hopefully I just had a screwy demo, and not a normal canopy.     And where were you getting out? 2000 ft? Probably something like 2100'. I saw someone doing a bunch of jumps in one day, cessna took him up, he jumped, landed, ditched the rig, put on another one, repeat. Pretty fast process being the only jumper on the plane, single wide turn to get from takeoff to jump run then turn again and land. Hell, I even packed a few of them.

    Good catch, just re-read that paragraph. Still, I should be allowed to patch a hole the size of a quarter on a reserve without being a master rigger. I have a feeling that there were other forces at play here, who are trying to make more work for master riggers, and widening the gap between master and senior riggers. It makes it harder to bridge the gap if as a senior rigger, you can't patch a reserve, but as a master rigger, you can do just about anything to the reserve. How are WE suppossed to get the experience in it, if we're not allowed to?
