  1. Loans and foreign aid are a pittance of the budget. Of course we could cut that but to get serious about our wasteful spending we need to go after entitlements, corporate welfare, and military spending. That's where the money is. Thanks, for that!! Seems to me, we need someone in our government who is willing to stand-up and make the proper 'cuts' and is not part of the 'Washington machine'. I do believe, we need a strong military but I believe too, the 'Masters of War' want too much and get it. We need to tighten our belts a bit and get-over being such a spoiled nation. Where do 'special interest groups' enter into the equation of frivilous spending? Chuck
  2. Something I don't understand is, we pour billions of dollars into 'loans' to other countries that don't get paid-back and we're in an economic mess here in this country. I think it's time we 'break their plates' and start seeing to our country. Our wasteful spending in so many areas is keeping us in the red. It's time this country gets back to work and get serious. Chuck
  3. So, you want the Government to spend more money, so it can make the same amount of money or less? During these cash strapped times, do you think that is smart? ...and I take it that you see fit to allow anyone and everyone, illegally, into this country just to make money? No! I want to see our politicians to do their damned jobs and quit taking the easy way out and quit selling-out our country. Chuck
  4. I believe, a lot of this comes straight from the Rick Perry crowd. Perry says out of one side of his mouth that he wants tough immigration laws, a wall along the border (not too big of a wall) and any means to keep out illegals. Out of the other side of his mouth, he says he wants a way for illegals to attend colleges. The state comptroller at the time of the report we've been discussing, was a big supporter of Rick Perry. Chuck
  5. Pops kinda' beat me to the punch. That too is what I saw in the report. We have a state that is supposed to uphold our nations laws yet Texas is defending violators of our Immigration laws just for money! That's the bottom line for anything now days... money. Doesn't matter who these people are, good, bad or indifferent as long as someone profits from it and our politicians defend it. I'm sure, it's not just Texas doing it. Sad damned commentary for our country. Chuck
  6. I took the time to carefully read the report you supplied. I find it a bit mis-leading. Why wouldn't the same money amounts be the same if, the 1.4million plus illegals were replaced with U.S. citizens? Anyone here in the state who purchases anything, pays sales tax. Anyone who owns property in Texas, pays property taxes and school taxes. Not to mention the purchase of State Lottery tickets (not mentioned in the report) Also, the author of the report is no longer our State Comptroller and was 'questionable' while she was. Chuck
  7. You bet they do but why should we let it get worse? It's only costing you and every other tax payer a lot of money to let the leeches on our society get away with it. The whole mess needs to be seriously cracked-down on. Chuck Chuck
  8. I didn't know that folks here still, said 'popo'! Chuck

  10. Hint: false papers- driver's license, birth cirtificate... not a problem to get all the benefits. Who 'really checks them, anyhow? Chuck
  11. The man who wrote that did a good job!! We all know why that bill was passed... just politicians suckin'-up for more votes. Who wouldn't vote for a guy who got them bought and paid for citizenship? Meanwhile, all those illegals can sit-back and laugh at those poor folks slogging through the system to become U.S. citizens legally. The illegals got them an 'express lane'! What a deal! Chuck
  12. Like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-kaG1NuLZM Yup! Chuck Man they are dropping like flies.. all the Grand Ole Opry stars I listened to as a kid... Early just a couple months ago.. now Doc.... RIP Sad, isn't it? I first saw Doc Watson on the old 'Hootenanny' show in the early 60's. The man was really good. Like you, I grew-up listening to those country stars who are passing too soon. Chuck

  14. I guess, God needed a great guitat player. Thanks Doc, for all the wonderful music you made. Chuck
  15. I saw an interview on the news, with the lady. She knew there was something wrong but just hung-on. She also said that she felt the TI did a good job, even though the landing was a little rough and she got some scrapes and bruises. All in all, she was quite up-beat during the interview. She came across as naive about it all but not concerned, either. Chuck
  16. I saw the Who a couple of times in the mid 70's and have some of their vinyl. My kids, too, have discovered them. Vskydiver and I took some of the kids to a Greenday show once and had a great time. "Dookie", one of their first CD's, is great. Maybe give 'em another listen.
  17. this current generation seem to lack a lot of originality, instead regurgitating many of the previous generations sounds. I often chastise the students around me for listening to and focusing on music that i grew up with. They should be playing stuff i don't like or understand. Adults never like what their kids listen to, anyhow. Chuck that's my point Chuck, all the stuff these kids listen to is Stuff I OWN. and that's wrong. When my oldest boy was 10 or 12-yrs. old, he 'discovered The Who'. He read-up on their history and bought every cd he could find of them. I bought their music on vinyl! After getting over the initial shock, I felt pretty good about it. The boy showed some class. Time went on and then, he discovered 'Greenday' and some of those others of that genre. I can't handle that stuff. Just history repeating itself. Chuck

  19. Each generation looks for what they can call their own. With some of our parents, it was Perry Como, Bing Crosby and so-on. With my generation, it was Elvis, Chuck Berry and The Rolling Stones, Them, The Beatles. With each new generation comes a new style of sound. Each generation looks for 'the next big thing'. Record companies are quickly there to capitalize on it. Chuck
  20. what is sad it that we even have to have laws that protect people on their own property in cases like this I really agree with you. Chuck
  21. I don't see a problem, except for the 'intruder'. She was where she did not belong. The homeowner gave her fair warning and fired the shot. Her (the intruder) being drunk is no excuse. Seems fairly open and shut. I think, she should face charges. Chuck
  22. Those irish and italians are pretty good at this organized crime stuff as well. They should be tossed out...all of them. You sound like you think we're picking on illegal aliens. How clean is your backyard in the frozen North? Chuck I'd give up Chuck. These city boys have no idea what farmers and ranchers in Texas are going through with these illegals squatting on their property. Killing their livestock, trashing everything etc. I guess, you're right. They aren't in their backyard so there's no problem. Besides, they're too blind to see anyhow. Thanks! Chuck

  24. since that has failed utterly, maybe time to make the supply legal. That is one arguement I really don't care to get into but to me, it's bad enough we have booze. We all know that story! I think of the torn-up marriages and families, job losses and so-on with booze but then add dope to the equation seems like throwing gasoline on a fire. Maybe, I just don't understand the wonders of getting high and not having control of one's self. I lived through the sixties and never understood the big deal about dope back then. I just don't see any good in booze or dope. I learned the hard way about booze. Chuck
  25. good markmenship...but one fucked up family. You got that right! If, the kid was doped-up, she was probably both, scared and angry. Chuck
