  1. Quote> I'm anxious for the day illegals picket for higher wages and form unions. Yep. And the reason that will happen is that Wal-Mart will threaten to raise prices unless politicians support that. And the voters will flock to the candidate that promises them low low prices on the season's best sales items.[/repl Any way you look at it... they got us by the short hairs. Chuck
  2. Not no but HELL NO! The refs are the final word and coaches and players had better not say a damned word or they get a stiff fine! Welcome to the 'new' NHL. I see that kinda stuff all the time, watching the games. Makes you wanna throw a brick through yor t.v.!!! The Wings have had that happen to them quite a bit. I do like the way the Bruins turned-around and scored. Chuck
  3. The thing is, you can't do that driving a truck, anymore! We're flat-out spoiled. When I graduated high school, I got 25 bucks. Now days, kids get a new Mustang! Our whole nation has just gotten out of whack. I'm anxious for the day illegals picket for higher wages and form unions. Chuck
  4. I was raised by a truck driver dad and we didn't want for much. We ate good... trust me! If, big business hadn't gotten so greedy people would still be willing to do 'those' jobs. Big business has 'out-sourced' jobs, imported everything from China and basically ruined the labor market. They've got the politicians eating out of their hands and are turning this country into one of 'haves and have nots'. And we're paying for it. Chuck Chuck
  5. Legal american citizens would be more willing to do them if we weren't handing out free money so much. I can recall a time when jobs like construction, truck driving, road building and several other jobs were highly sought after. The pay was good and a man could support his family, and have a few 'extras'. Somewhere along the line, employers latched-on to the idea of hiring illegals, cut the wages and set it up to where a man couldn't 'afford' to do those jobs. Wages went down and the businesses found their profits were higher. I knew men who worked in packing plants, machine shops, lumber yards and other 'labor' jobs. I knew women who cleaned homes and took-in ironing and it helped their family. Why should a man want a job that used to pay good and now only pays minimum wage or less? But... we need illegals! Chuck
  6. Like the NBA? That call that gave San Jose another 5 on 3 against the Wings was totally wrong. They've had a 5 on 3 in the third period, both games! Just a little odd. Chuck
  7. That's not sour grapes, that's how it is. Granted I'm happy that the bad calls were in the Sharks favor last night, but damn, some consistency in the officiating from minute to minute (much less game to game) would be nice. Thank you, thank you... Here I thought maybe, my bi-focals were failing me! Seriously, The Sharks playd good, solid hockey. I thought the Wings did too but, we need to get the refs out of retirement to officiate these games. Don Kohorskey... where are you when we need you? That dim-witted little gnome, Gary Bettman either doesn't care or doesn't have a clue. All we can do is see how it all washes-out and hope for the best for our teams. Before I forget... congrats for your team. Depressed in Texas!
  8. Damned composite sticks! Chuck
  9. You bet they did! I forget which Wing it was but he was trying to get the puck from one of the Sharks and reached with his stick. the Shark went flopping on the ice like a fish out of water and the Wing got called for tripping! The bad part of this officiating thing is, if a coach or player says anything about it, they get fined for it! Chuck
  10. There's something just wrong about that phrase. Hey! It's good stuff! Chuck
  11. You got that right. I've seen the Wings dig their way out of this situation before but the way the Sharks have been playing... it ain't lookin' good! I couldn't believe, the wings got 10 penalties! That is a rarity for them. I gotta' believe they can pull it out, though. Chuck
  12. Yup. I'm really questioning the officiating in this series! The Red Wings were second lowest in penalty minutes during the regular season. Suddenly, the Wings have somehow gotten 36-penalty minutes. There were at least two questionable calls in the third that led to a 5 on 3 for the Sharks. Bertuzzi gave one of the Sharks a little shove and the refs charged him with 'holding'. That's just one example. I'm not trying to sound like 'sour grapes' but the officiating throughout the league has absolutely stunk... all season. The Sharks did play very good but the refs gave them this one!!! Chuck
  13. Watching the Wings - Sharks game, I'll give San Jose an 8 for embellishment and an 8.5 for diving!!! The Wings gave 'em that game! They'd better win the next two or it's hello golf course!!! Chuck
  14. You are wrong if you think the use of the word random prevents your words from being a personal attack. It certainly is fair to consider it casting stones, but the stones are facts, whether cast by a random or specific butthole. Much better than a random butthole spreading lies. You are quite sensitive to opposing positions in a discussion. I was not simply casting stones (as if you don't), I was telling the truth of the liberal viewpoint. They say the what is needed instead to address the concerns of the proponents of the Arizona law is comprehensive reform. That reform, if liberals have their way, includes amnesty. Just telling it like it really is. Conservatives in the past have proposed and enacted amnesty, but now it is just libs. By giving them amnesty, the politicians can look to all those votes they're going to get for getting the illegals a 'free ride' into this country. I look at that as a total feather-legged way out of a problem and a slap in the face to those people who chose to follow the legal path to citizenship status rather than stealing it or have it just given to them. Chuck
  15. Wishfull thinking! The Wings have beaten the Sharks before and they'll beat 'em again. Chuck
  16. It's good to see the Canadiens back in the 'fight'. It's been awhile and for them to knock-off the top seed in the East and now, working on the Pens... not too shabby. Chuck
  17. Canadiens-3 Pens-1 2:24 left in the 3rd.! Looks like, if nothin' shakes, rattles or breaks, Les Habs are going to tie the series! Now, if only the Wings can do that later tonight. Chuck
  18. Always. And of course experts will whore for their masters. But if you challenge my experts as whores, I'll do the same thing to yours. So it goes. Thank you. I've often wondered about that. Chuck
  19. I have a question in regard to the 'experts' who would be called to testify. Aren't they paid for their testimony? Chuck
  20. This topic has gotten serious and that one breezed right on by. Chuck
  21. Yes. If they're polite and well-behaved, and bathe with reasonable frequency, I'd find them to be acceptable. Even though they are breaking our laws by being here? Chuck
  22. It's breathtaking simple: if a law gives a "wink and a nod" to not using racial profiling, but as a practical matter it is not capable of being enforced without racial profiling, then the net (and legal) effect, nonetheless, is that it requires racial profiling. This may be above middle school civics, but it's really not that complicated an analysis. I don't understand what the opposition to this is. If they are pulled over or stopped for breaking another law, other than "suspected illegal immigrant", where is the profiling? What really gets me is, the entire Hispanic community, both legal and illegal, the Mexican government and many citizens in this country, are all in an uproar over the new Arizona law. My point is, anyone of us wouldn't dare go into Mexico or any other country without proper papers. Yet, we are supposed to sit-back and just let anyone and everyone enter this country illegally or be accused of 'racial profiling'. I just don't understand that. When I read where illegals are saying they 'belong here' well, they can go through the process of becoming a U.S. citizen or they can stay in their country. When illegal aliens get in an uproar because we are going to penalize employers of illegals (that law has been on our books for many years) that's nuts. Not only are illegals here but they are trying to dictate to us how they should be treated. I support Arizona's actions and it's about time someone really tried to do something about the problem. If anything, it will certainly bring attention to the problems on our Southwest border. Chuck
  23. I haven't seen a copy of it... though, I would like to. Would you know if it's posted anywhere? I see it as a response to the murder of the rancher in Arizona and that The State of Arizona realizes a 'real' problem and they are trying to do something about it. Chuck
  24. I think cops will be very, very careful, and a bit less clumsy, about having a credible pretense for stopping a spi... er... person of interest. I'm curious too... have you by any chance read the new law? All what... 17 pages ? Cops have been dealing with 'profiling' for some time now and I feel cionfident, they'll know how to handle it. Also, I'm sure, each licensed police officer will, if they haven't already, recieve a copy of the law and will be 'briefed' on it. Chuck
  25. You folks keep missing the point, over and over again, and repeating this tired talking point, over and over again. OK, once again: The problem is not with checking those who were stopped for a legitimate reason. The problem is with stopping people for how they look and no other reason - truthfully in order to check them - even though a plausible premise for the stop may be invented by the LEO in order to "legitimize" the stop & check. That is the essence of what racial profiling is all about. I just discussed this in detail in post #100 above. Do you really believe, with everyone being so 'sensitive' and so many people just looking for a cop to screw-up, that there will be such a massive abuse of the law by police officers? Also, have you read the entire entire law... all of what, 17 pages?? Chuck
