  1. Yeah, because oil wells are so attractive... Not to mention the stench of them either... I wonder how many thousands of cases of cancer... all that wonderful effluent from all that smell of oil and its components everywhere out there. Polluted air... polluted water... oh thats ok.. it's just business. All that escaping H2S gas, there has to be some side effect. Chuck
  2. Yeah... those too! Chuck Yeah, because oil wells are so attractive...
  3. It's probably similar here... some folks will do anything for a buck. Here, it's kinda depressing to see what were once open mesas are now covered with wind turbines. Supposedly, they are there to bring us citizens cheaper electric power yet, our rates just keep going up. Chuck
  4. That mentions just one member of an endangered species. With all the 'wind farms', I wonder how many more species are killed that we don't hear about because someone really, really wants those contraptions out there? Chuck
  5. No it's not ... it's an expensive waste of time (at the moment) - it's an eye sore (on land) and a blight. I totally agree! I just love driving across West Texas and have to look at those damned things! Myquestion is, with all those windmills... how many are really producing power? Chuck
  6. I experienced similar things at my job of 15-yrs. One day, I'd had enough and walked-off. Didn't say a word to anyone. Just got in my truck and left. I had a rigger's ticket and started my own business. I had no idea, life could be so good!
  7. Meh. It was all faked anyway. But I imagine the tandem students might not be happy to learn the previous student to use that harness was nekkid. ...or that there's a 3" seam separation in the seat of the tandem passenger jumpsuit! Chuck
  8. Exactly. If you want it done just the way you want it, and you can do it yourself, that's the way to go. I have taken a wall out (made sure it was not load-bearing), filled in a window opening, built a new wall, installed new windows and doors and laid down flooring and tiles. There's not much I haven't done. The only things I don't mess with is water copper piping and electrical wiring where I need to add on or need a circuit breaker upgraded or added because I have no fucking idea what I'm doing. You too? I will not mess with electricity or plumbing. For one thing, there's so much 'code' involved and well... I know just enough to probably burn my danned house down! I did turn a back deck into a 'sun room'! Framed it, sided it and put in all the windows and panneling. I did have to get my neighbor to help me with the ceiling. I learned a lot as a kid, helping my mom and dad build our house when I was growing-up. Chuck I have relocated electrical wiring when I needed to move a switch or ceiling mounted light, and replaced outlets/switches. That's it. I know to shut off the circuit breakers too. My wife on the other hand.... Thank fuck the screwdriver she was holding had a thick insulated handle! Same here! When I added the 'sun room'. I extended the wiring from what had been an outdoor porch light. I ran the wiring after the room was finished and installed a ceiling fan. I ran the wiring to the ceiling fan through a conduit that is fastened to the ceiling. That's the extent of my electrical work. Yes, I turned-off the breaker! The room is panelled in rough-cut wood panelling and rough-cut cedar trim. My wife loves it! Chuck

  10. I'm glad you did get lucky... fewer headaches! I guess, they are no different from other workers... some are good... some aren't. Personally, I won't hire them or any crew with illegal labor, if, I can do it myself. Chuck
  11. Yes: those are exactly the same people who work on farms picking lettuce for 10 hours a day and in factories. Nice strawman.. And they do a great job building or fixing homes. When I had my roof redone via Home Depot, the contractor had a team of Mexicans. Did my entire roof in one day, over 2500 sq ft. Looks awesome. They are usually more dependable than other races, plus even if they are paid below minimum wages, it's still more money than they could ever earn IN Mexico, so they are happy to earn it. I would prefer, however, that they become legal immigrants and pay their fucking taxes like we do, because a lot of our tax money goes into covering social services for them. On the other side... I've seen new homes built in subdivisions in my area, by illegal alien labor and in six months, they were falling apart. I'm tired of my tax dollars giving free breakfasts and lunches to illegal kids at our schools and free medical services to illegals. You're absolutely correct... it WOULD be nice to see illegals paying for services you and I have to pay for. What really gets me is, they drive new Escalades, pick-ups and you name it. Then too, why shouldn't they... as long as we're sucker enough to keep the hand-outs flowing in their direction. Chuck
  12. Sorry, your Race Card® is over the balance limit. Please try your transaction again with a different method. Xena-phobia She was HOT!! Chuck
  13. I apologise for not responding sooner, I've been working cattle. That period in time was just pretty good for me. I don't know about anyone else but I enjoyed it. Chuck
  14. I kinda miss the 20th. century. Chuck
  15. I think it's funny! Maybe, just maybe, this country might be getting it's sense of humor back!? We as a nation have gotten so self centered and up-tight, we've forgotten how to laugh. Chuck
  16. Several years ago, I was sent out by my boss to fill a propane tank on a pump-jack. In the peocess of backing-up to the tank, my truck got stuck in the sand. While I was under the truck, shoveling sand away from the rear tires, I heard a pick-up coming. Yee-ha! Shortly, a young guy stuck his head unnder the truck and asked me, not if he could help but instead, he asked if I was a Christian! It was the middle of July in the West Texas oil-patch. I was hot and just wanting to fill a propane tank and stuck in the sand and this clown asks if I'm a Christian! I continued digging and accidently shoveled sand in his face. He left the location and I got myself un-stuck. Obviously, he was not a Christian. Chuck
  17. Wrong: Exodus 22:2: "If a thief is caught breaking in and is struck so that he dies, the defender is not guilty of bloodshed" Does that mean Christians also support selling their daughters into slavery and the death penalty for eating shrimp or a cheeseburger? I know that the 'ham' part of 'hamburger' confuses you, but hamburger is beef and not pork. Mixing dairy (cheese) and meat is not allowed. I realize that you may not know that cheese is a dairy product and that you are therefore confused. No... you don't mix seafood and dairy! Chuck Tell that to the lox and cream cheese brigade! Forgot about them. Chuck
  18. Some folks use The Bible to justify just about everything! Chuck

  20. Talk about determination to do something! I just don't know about you guys. Abilene holds some good-good memories for me, too. At the time, I was living in Odessa, Texas. I worked a deal with a Senior Rigger to get my Senior ticket... he lived in Abilene. It was several week-end trips but we got it done. As a side note... his packing table was in his back yard and it was in the summer. p.s. I slept on the floor of his sewing room! Chuck
  21. Did you ever get just a little nervous? Talk about trusting your fellow man! Dayum! Chuck
  22. I've heard that question a lot in the past when 'off DZ' landings happened. I can see where accuracy would be a big priority! Chuck
  23. O.K., you set me up... I gotta ask... Who spotted that load? I don't believe, I'd care to chance it. Chuck
