Watch a lot of vide Visualize Stretch Work out
-
I have been thinking a lot about this and finally decided not to take any ratings ... well at least at this point. Yes, I will be spending more for less jumps, but I will only be doing what I like - training and competing with my teammates Many "old" instructors will probably tell you to stay away from skydiving "jobs" is you really want to enjoy the sport.
-
Work pays for your jumps In most of the cases people who get paid for their jumps are doing AFF/Tandem/Video. I am not saying it is not fun, but I do not have any desire to become an instructor and to do what they tell me to do.

C'mon ... sell something and buy it now!

I knew you will show up.

SDU has a tape "The basic body flight theory". Very good learning tool to start.
-
It is very common problem for a person with 27 jumps to have problems like you just described, so there is no need to be frustrated. Visual contact is extremely important, but you should also develop the body awareness and to learn how to change the rate of fall with small or aggressive inputs (depending on the situation) without even thinking about it. What you doing with you arms and legs and how quickly you respond to the fall rate changes make the difference. It will all come with time. To accelerate the learning process, watch "The basic body flight theory", spend as much time as possible doing simple drill dives with GOOD people or take a tunnel camp (the best solution to any performance problem) and you will improve fast. Again, do not be frustrated, we all learn from mistakes we make. Work hard, jump a lot, keep your mind open for advice from experienced people and you will become a good skydiver soon

Bacause it's windy and because I'm saving up for team jumps

Descriptions of exits by name?
Mad47 replied to SkydiveNFlorida's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Airspeed Skydive 4'99 describes all 4-way exits. Some blocks in randoms have been changed since the tape was released, however it is a very good learning tool. -
I think 4'99 is a great tool to start, however there were some changes in IPC dive pull since the tape was released.

Gosh ... what was your average FF speed? My best documented result was 92 mph (according to ProTrack, tracking all the way from 13.5 to 4K) in tight RW suit but it was a while ago (before I studied your article) ....

Wave off once? twice? and look Up? down? both?
Mad47 replied to bigbearfng's topic in Safety and Training
Tell them to use you as a reference to practice their tracking skills No seriously, I would not try to dive down and sacrifice horizontal separation just on order to stay on level with everybody else. The principle I learned from Hook'n'swoop and other very good trackers is never think you are good at it and never get sloppy. Try to get flatter, I am sure there are big people who can easily outtrack you. Try to be as good as them, don try to stay on level with those who think that sloppy delta is good enough -
Wave off once? twice? and look Up? down? both?
Mad47 replied to bigbearfng's topic in Safety and Training
I think it is very common to get into situation like that as your tracking skills progress and you appear to be higher than others few second after relatively big group breaks off. It is fine as long as you are aware of what’s going on and don’t have to explain why you tracked over someone’s head. -
African American SkyDiver! What?

African American SkyDiver! What?
Mad47 replied to TXBLKBEAR's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Wassap J.R There was a visiting African American jumper at DZ this summer. I was on the same load with him but did not ask for his name or where he was from because we separated by several people in the plane. Anton -
Why did you start skydiving/ BASE jumping?
Mad47 replied to lkolkin's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Most of the people do not have any ideas what skydiving is about when they start. Well, at least I was like that (started because of girl). Understanding comes with time and priorities tend to change. After only year and a half in sport I can say with confidence it is not about adrenaline rush. -
Here is a beta version of our continuity plan. A team will be trained in the following order: 1) Basic body flight, 20 jumps 2) Random work, 66 jumps 3) Block techniques, 84 jumps 4) Competition dives, 30 jumps (3 10 round draws) Random type blocks are included into "Random" section. Each random formation will be practiced on 16-18 dives (19-21 dives including competition draws). Each block will be practiced on 6 dives (9 dives including competition draws). Still need to work on the exits (the exit plan is very preliminary). The random exit plan will probably be re-arranged after first few training camps when we get some ideas about the exits that work fine and the exits that cause problems. Some pages in Random training section were copied from Mario's Matrix FS continuity plan. Thanks everybody for the tremendous help!!! Anton P.S: Ed to attach corrected version

Easy on them planes, dude

That's a part of visualization program. Well, actually I went through every slot (not only mine), but I only did it for the randoms and random blocks (7, 9, 14, 15). However most of the time is spent learning how it looks from my "hopefully soon to be slot"

Mario, I have been visualizing on the ground for a while, however I was not really doing it systematically until recently. As always, when you start to learn something it takes time to understand how to learn it right Now I really feel how applying systematic every day visualization and monitoring arousal levels on the way to the altitude improve the actual skydives and help to understand the mechanics of FS. Even my colleagues at work are now used to occasional 360 spins on the office chair P.S: Thanks again for the file. It helped tremendously to design our own plan (it is now almost completed … took much longer then expected)

I am only beginning to understand what obsession's like. Designed a bunch of random dives yesterday night and then went through them all in my dreams ...

I feel like I owe a lot of beer to a lot of people

I will probably repeat what has been already said but anyway. It is absolutely natural to look down because we always tend to look in the direction we are going. Do not try to tell yourself "do not look down" Instead, try to look up, at the wing tip as you leave the plane.
