That is a little like saying a car is well built except the brakes don't work. I personally use an Argus, and to be honest the circular cutter causes me concern. I haven't seen any valid arguments that it is a better design over a knife edge cutter, and based on its design and where it is installed in the container, it can cause a fatal bag lock. I am in the crowd of people who would never buy another one, but am not taking the one I have out of my container. I check it before every jump, and am willing to conform to any requests at the DZ before boarding a plane (ie show it is on an working). I won't jump at a DZ that demands I remove a life saving device from my container. Is there a list of DZ's that demand removal? For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.

So how would someone determine if the manufacturer put a life limit on a given reserve canopy? Is there a list somewhere? For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.

Gingrich wanted ‘open marriage’ with both wife and mistress
DiverMike replied to jclalor's topic in Speakers Corner
I agree his private life is none of our business, but the fact that he is a proven hyppocrit does have a bearing on my evaluation of him as a candidate. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board. -
I am totally envious. The area looks fantastic. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.

I am willing to bet whatever the going rate for 10 lift tickets will be in 2019 you will do both within the next 7 years. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.

Until I am in a firefight fighting for my life, I will withhold judging the actions of those who lived it. They will be judged and punished by their peers. I do thank the thousands of troops who have put themselves in harms way for my benefit and acted honorably. They don't get the front page news. This is interesting for me as I have been in both places. Except for the airplane, my life is currently similiar to Ron, but at one point it was much more like Shah's I got married young, divorced around 28, went into debt to by a nice sports car to feel good about myself and eventually got my life back on track. Shah - I think we are all hoping this is a temporary phase, rather than a life plan for you. I think what Ron (an about everyone else is saying) is it is more important to impress yourself than to impress strangers. Chicks dig confidence, but take advantage of posers - and I am willing to bet you know that. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.

Not to be a grammar nazi, but it should be 'more upset' as there are only two choices. Kind of like 'better foot foward' is correct. It would be hard for me to decide, as I would feel extremely betrayed by both. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.

I looked at the source code of the website and they are using Google Analytics to track hits and traffic. Wouldn't God already know who visited what on the website? Wouldn't He also know who was going to visit what in the future? Doesn't being omnipotent make Google Analytics uneccesary? For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.

What's difficult about skydiving
DiverMike replied to Sjaak's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Have you ever landed your kite with you attached to it? Could you post the video? It would probably be more expensive in the long run as you would have to pay for all slots on the airplane (assuming you are jumping at a US DZ). As an unlicensed skydiver, only instructors can be in the air at the same time as you are. And you have already seen through the scam that keeps instructors in their high lifestyle of ramen noodles and borrowed beer. Go for it. What could go wrong? What was the number one song on the day you were born??

What was the number one song on the day you were born??
DiverMike replied to Amazon's topic in The Bonfire
You are right- it looks like she is singing at a funeral. That was #1 in England - maybe you can get a better #1 U.S. Song. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board. -
The re-pack cycle ~ *From Z-Hill Fatality thread
DiverMike replied to airtwardo's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I thought this thread was split off the incident thread so repack cycles could be discussed. Can we leave discussion of the specific incident in the incident forum? Truth be told, most of the discussion of the specific incident in this thread doesn't even belong there. The detailed information about the incident will likely be released when appropriate. Why do we go through this every incident? I've never met Normiss, but I am willing to bet he isn't withholding any pertinent information for some nefarious reason. I can't imagine anyone who owns their gear being content with only having a rigger take a look at it every 180 days. Hell - I examine my gear so often my wife tells me to stop playing with it or I will go blind. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board. -
OMG! California police officers have assault weapons!
DiverMike replied to JohnRich's topic in Speakers Corner
From the Article: I would point out that 43 states don't have the same restrictions on semi automatic rifles owned by civilians. IMHO just another reason not to live in California. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board. -
Why Irish soldiers who fought Hitler hide their medals
DiverMike replied to ryoder's topic in Speakers Corner
As bad as that sounds, I agree with you in principle - but we don't know the whole story. Maybe those in command gave tacit approval to allow the soldiers to abandon their neutral post to fight in the war with the knowledge they would be blacklisted on return instead of shot. It is hard to determine exactly what happened nearly 70 years ago. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board. -
i voted this time because of the additional effort of getting the family and friends to hold up letters. That goes above what I normally see at the DZ (and yes marriage proposals while skydiving don't seem unique to me, but neither does skydiving). For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In Reply To -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 95% of plaintiffs' attorneys will... As for the 3-5% of plaintiffs' attorneys who might take the case, it's pretty likely that they . -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 86% of all statistics are made up on the spot. raff -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Especially if they're made up by people who don't have expertise in what they're talking about. I, on the other hand, have been a litigation attorney for over 25 years, so I really do know what I'm talking about when it comes to my own industry. You are still making up a statistic and implying a reliablity of that number of +- 5% without quoting any source or study. Regardless of your esteemed litigation career, you are making numbers up. A better way to have said it would be "an overwhelming majority" or "nearly all" thus leaving 'wiggle room'. The precision you used does not stand up to scrutiny. Just saying. How the hell did you beat me to it? I read his post, then posted my response. When I refreshed the page I saw you beat me by a microsecond making me look like a parrotting poser. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
