Ok.. so I got an email from my Skydive Orange group thanking those from orange who went to louisa to pay their respect. (I heard about all this when I got to work this morning, so unfortunately I wasn't able to go) -- however on the other thread I noticed the article was posted on one of the national news sites (I believe abcnews). So the curiousity hit me and I went to check out some of the other major ones, CNN.com forinstance. Since it was an AP article it made its way to the various major people. So here is what gets me: You search for skydive on ccn.com and guess what you get? Top 5 articles: 50-foot fall kills skydiver Plane crashes in Texas; at least 11 injured Skydiving plane crashes in Texas Field Skydiving plane falls 500 feet to ground Plane crashes into great salt lake, killing 9 I know this point was brought up ages ago, that is what prompted to me to "take action" and get some good storys up on DZ.com, such as the Carl Nespoli and the Troy Hartman interviews however I think it needs to be taken a step further and we need to urge these national news people (CNN, ABC News, maybe even the AP) to do some good press on skydiving. I don't know what the past Freefall conventions have been like, if they cover it and if they do if they only focus on the # of injuries... and i'm not saying out of everything skydiving that the freefall convention (especially this year) should be covered, but if anything would draw the most public attention it seems like that is it. What did you end up paying for it? I just got on there (first time ubid customer) and they had 10 of them going for as low as 29 bucks.. then all the sudden (1 hr before the thing ended) it shot up to one guy buying all 10 of them for 319.00 each (sounds fishy.. especially since uBid was the seller of the item, not a private individual) looks like a little insider markup to me. At any rate 330.00 is what I was gonna limit myself on them. Kevin

Well they've done fucked themselves now... nothing is unbreakable. When someone does break it (which someone will, maybe not by August 1st but it will be broken, look at jaws technologies http://www.jawstech.com of course I couldn't load their site - wouldn't be surprised if they don't exist anymore; they offered 1 million if anyone could crack their code) their company (and it's technology) will be worth nothing.

So I got a question -- For you guys who have been to "Quincy" in the past - if i'm bringing my girlfriend, Jessie and she either A) isn't a jumper or B) is a new jumper and will not be jumping during the event, will she have to register to get in? I heard something about they weren't letting non jumper (locals) in last year.

Humm.. well good luck. We use apache and sendmail here, I don't think it is wise to compare sendmail to exchange - anything unix is going to be a lot better than a microsoft product (again, in my opinion). Let me know how it goes. Kevin

I like to go by the saying "You get what you pay for" it all depends on what the project is. I stand by oracle, of course all the projects I work on require a beast such as oracle. I would use postgres (don't know about RedHat database) for something more along the lines of a personal website database, something a lot smaller. That's just me - when you have a lot riding on a project (i.e. it is production) I prefer something that has been proven. Just my opinion of course.

I guess I'm a bad roomate.. I evacuated my place (i rented a room in a townhouse which had 3 other roomates in it - who still live there none the less). Tried to break my lease but the landlord wouldn't allow it, so i'm still paying rent - on time, every month. However my landlord wants me to continue paying utilities even though I DO NOT LIVE THERE! This month was the first one I refused on. I sent him letters the last month about how I didn't think it was fair since I wasn't using any water, electricity, etc.. he wrote back said I didn't have to pay the water -- well the water wasn't costing anything! It was like a pay twice a year type thing or something, and it has been $0.00 for the past 4 months so *Shrug* electricity is over 80.00 per person! (over 200 per month!) So anyway I've been seeking legal help to fight him if he tries to come after that money. Crazy eh? ANyone ever run into this crap? Kevin http://www.interone.net
