  1. Okay.. so I was over at my riggers' house having him re-do my reserve.. and I was holding the rig for him and made a few quick "sniffs" and we both said at the same time "that smells like..... cat piss" then it hit me.. i packed my rig at my girlfriend's house a few months back and she has a cat that likes to pee on new things. Evidentally the cat pissed where my main goes (the main was obviously out) -- i have a mirage and it is linned in that area with some fabric like that found on the inside of jackets (not the same material as the outside of the rig) does anyone know any remedes to getting cat pee smell out of my container??? The febreeze isn't working Kevin
  2. Okay, I don't know how many of you guys have seen this - but an add on baselogic.com caught my attention -- Leading Edge base equipment features a model wearing their stuff in the buff. Kinda nice marketing idea :) Kevin
  3. Humm.. I was out there saturday, who were you jumping with? didn't stick around for the sunset load... or I was building the fence at the time. Kevin
  4. "The pilot received several cuts and bruises but is expected to live. " Humm.. that seems like poor writing to me. Cuts and Bruises are associated with minor injuries - thus there is no question that with a minor injury they are expected to live. Unless the cut was across an artery and he bled profusely then why put "he's expected to live" that's like saying "he fell off his bike and skinned his knee, but we think he'll live" Humm Kevin
  5. Also unless you're using a mandrake install ( not sure about the other ones ) you should have partitioned space for it before you installed 2K. Doing a partition after you install 2K could cause data loss on 2K. Make sure (if you already installed and didn't partition) you have a very very good defrag done before you partition for the linux. My mandrake installed and partitioned space after the 2K was installed and it works fine, but I did a good defrag first. I also say dual boot works better if you don't have a hot-rod. My laptop is a P3 866 / 256 MB ram and it isn't fast enough to run VMWare as good as I'd like. I think it has a lot to do with memory, need 512. Kevin
  6. No. I talked to ned today, evidentally they haven't started those. He said they would start those in a few weeks. (I guess if there is enough people ahead of time he'll get a pilot out there). Bleh. base jumping looks like so much fun right now *sigh* Sorry for being out of the loop -- when do you move and where are you going ? Work related? Kevin
  7. Okay. So i'll be the first to admit, I'm a weenie when it comes to cold weather. I moved to virginia from mississippi late last year, and it's been cold. I froze my toes because I couldn't stand not jumping so I was like "hey it's 50 degrees, that's not bad" psh. Anyway, I see this is going to be the first weekend where it is 70 degrees! Woo-hoo! Just my type of weekend. Been psyched up about it since monday. So On wed. as i'm laying in bed, it hits me. My reserve may be out of date! Sure enough it expired on wed. So i put out a plea for help, found a rigger and he packed it right in front of me at his house... even bought me pizza because I had to "wait" so long. So i gave him a good tip, and went on my merry way. My girlfriend's jeep's waterpump exploded as she was on the way over to meet me, so I have to get on my bike and go see what's up with that (this was as he was finishing up my rig).. so I hop on cindy and head over.. sure enough anti-freeze all over the road. Anyway back to the subject at hand. So I got my rig, I'm all psyced up I haven't jumped in a while, need a good stress relief with all the work crap (lotsa layoffs) .. now the frigging weather, which has been down right BEAUTIFUL all week is going to be crappy, starting today. Today it's all overcast, they cancelled the tandems and everything today. I was scheduled to take off early from work to go get at least 1 jump in. Tomorrow, rain 60% chance. Sunday -- not like I was gonna jump sunday anyway, have school crap to do. But now sunday, raining. WHY!!!!! I need to take up base, but don't need charges on my record because of background checks I'll have to go through in the future. *sigh* life seems so unfair. What do you guys do for stress relief when you can't skydive?? Shoot something? I guess I'll go shooting this weekend -- my other relief
  8. 2xx (student canopy, not sure) cruiselight 220 saber 150 triath 135 hornet 135 All within 50 jumps.
  9. Be careful you female jumpers (and I guess male too) who post pie pics. I was looking through the web logs the other day for one of the websites I manage (Gold Coast Skydivers)... noticed a bunch of referrals from http://www.umd.net my brain automatically said "University of Maryland" until I saw the ".net" and thought well that didn't seem right. So I went to check it out. Turns out it is the "Ultimate Messy Directory" a fetish site where you get to see girls all "messed up" Crazy the fetishes out there. Kevin http://www.interone.net
  10. Was this the "i felt someone tap me on the rig so I thought that meant get the f*ck out" story?
  11. Ooo! now with pictures! http://www.cnn.com/2002/TRAVEL/NEWS/04/10/runaway.plane/index.html Humm "for some reason the damn thing won't stop, could you guys take a look at it?"
  12. Where is there news / pictures of this?
  13. Already did that last year on my motorcycle while making a video for a local group of motorcycle riders.. I swear it was a parking lot we were in, it was just striped and had "speed limit 70" signs on it.
  14. Actually it dates back to the early days of the weather guy. He would say "and today we have blue skies, cool around 70 with a slight breeze out of the south"
  15. You obviously haven't seen the video of the teenager running up to a cop and flicking him off to his face.. the cop took out the ASP and started beating the crap out of the guy.. while I am almost positive the cop is 100% in error here, I really don't want my ass kicked cause I called him a stupid son of a B*atch. Then again, I am going through the background check now for Arlington County PD
  16. Boy they are smart. Sounds like they should use all the help they can get if you ask me.
  17. Sure they are, but it is very poor marketing to not make a distinction between what sport they are supposed to be used for. If you are going to tap other markets and your products are made for a certain market - then organize it. Would you go to a motorcycle shop looking for a skydiving helmet? Or even a better analogy would you use a motorcycle helmet for skydiving? No. So why would you group a motorcycle (horse or bike) helmet with skydiving equipment? Just my opinion *shrug* but what does that count for?
  18. Haha! woops.. Lemme rephrase that -- "Well bonehead composites"
  19. Well bonehead : A) sells equipment for "extreme sports" (per their website) while I have a motorcycle and drive it extremely fast, I don't consider it an extreme sport B) They have never sold any other product other than skydiving related equipment... so if they were to make a motorcycle helmet don't you think they'd make a big deal out of the fact "this is our first attempt at a motorcycle helmet" or something? C) Helmets used for motorcycles have to be DOT certified (to be legal) which requires a good bit of mumbo jumbo. they make no mention of DOT certification. ?
  20. Well that surprises me.. A) bonehead composites logo is: "Bonehead Composites is the Leader in Carbon Fiber / Composite Products for Extreme Sports." B) All of bonehead's products are skydiving related C) Rider's rage falls under the "standard helmets" category - with all skydiving helmets D) Motorcycle helmets have to be DOT certified - they make no mention of any DOT certification.
  21. Ok, I posted this in gear and rigging but since I know it may be beneficial to those (like me) who don't check out G&R that much I'll post it here. Noticed (while looking at the grand prize for the photo contest) that bonehead has redesigned their site -- also noticed they are now offering Bone Bonds which is a "double your money guarantee" in 3 months. Buy a 100.00 bond today and in July get 200 bucks worth of bonehead gear. Very neat. While I was looking over their new products, I found they have a helmet called the "rider's rage" found here. This thing looks like the brain buckets the HOG riders use but one model comes with spikes on it. Now in my humble opinion a skydiving helmet with spikes on it seems kinda stupid on the part of the designer. Think about a mid air collision with a freeflyer wearing a spiked helmet... What do you guys think?
  22. I noticed while looking over the new design for the bonehead site, that they are coming out (or have come out) with a helmet called "rider's rage" found here which looks a lot like one of those brain buckets that the HOG riders use. However, for some (in my mind) idiotic reason they've decided to integrate SPIKES on the helmet. Does this not seem stupid? Think of :' A) Mid air collision with someone that is wearing a helmet with spikes B) Some part of a parachute deployment hitting a spike doing damage to lines What do you guys think?
  23. I don't hang out on this forum that much, but I found this today and don't feel right posting it on skydiving talkback because it is a gear related post. I found bonehead is selling bone bonds which basically you double your money in 3 months. Buy a 100.00 bond in feb and in august it's worth 200 bucks of bonehead products. Crazy huh?
