  1. Yeah, we didn't discuss it before hand but it appears that is what the pilot did. I don't know if you can hear but someone screams (up front in the cockpit) as soon as I exit and as soon as i get out the door you see the seatbelts go back down... So basically what you're saying is you could be in a casa up by the pilot have them go into a negative G and be able to track the entire length of the plane out the back?
  2. It wasn't as close as it looks in the video.. I was a good 5 - 8 feet from it :) The video quality sucks on those net files.
  3. Okay here is a run down of the files: http://www.interone.net/negg.html http://www.interone.net/vid/negg.wmv http://www.interone.net/vid/negg.mpg Not hearing much feedback on the video..
  4. Lol.. guess there is no way to track while in a negative G environment.
  5. Yeah I know.. i still think there is a safer way to do it.. maybe as soon as i push out he can do an opposite bank turn or something But hey - they said it was crazy to jump out of a perfectly good airplane to begin with.. :) Would be bad ass in a casa, though I don't know how well it would work when you have nothing to push against.
  6. Humm.. not having any problems here.. Sorry to hear that - it's a cool video :)
  7. I'm an emt as well - feel free to email me, korkin@yahoo.com I do it as a hobby - for me, the pay sucks the hours are long it's high stress but it's rewarding at times and a good adrenaline high. I'm a full time computer guy - pay is much better.
  8. Ok - here is the video in .wmv format - should be viewable in Windows Media Viewer. Let me know what other format you want. And I can't attach it, it's too big. find it at http://www.interone.net/vid/negg.wmv
  9. Well what format can i export for your viewing pleasure? Real Media?
  10. Ok guys. This weekend I pulled off an exit i've been dreaming about doing for a while now. Here @ Skydive orange I talked with the pilot and we did a Negative G exit. Basically I was on my hands and knees in the door he did a negative G (i floated in the plane) and pushed myself outside the plane. I know it was dangerous, and I probably wont' do it again unless i brainstormed some more on the safety of it. Has anyone else out there done this or seen it done? Check out the video! http://www.interone.net/negg.html Let me know what you think. Sorry for the poor quality, not sure why the export was so bad.
  11. Guys and Gals -- just for the heck of it I searched for "skydive" on cnn.com (yes I was bored today). I wasn't expecting anything to come back (that was of valid skydiving news) - unfortunately to my surprise (or lack of surprise) all that came back was story after story of plane crashes, accidents, and bad news. Is there ANYTHING we can do to get places like CNN and AP to cover some GOOD skydiving stuff? Perhaps do some major patriotic jump for the WTC/Pentagon tragedy, or raise some money somehow or something?
  12. Hey guys, I don't know if this has gotton around yet or not but this month's maxim has a spread on girls who do extreme sports, one of which is Lottie Aston - a fine base jumper. (Home DZ unknown). Check out the web site http://www.maximonline.com Anyone know where she jumps?
  13. This weekend, as in this coming weekend? Or the weekend that just ended? I skydive @ Orange... where you originally from? Never been to west point - just moved to the area actually. Let me know - maybe we can jump together. Kevin
  14. You have actually seen people pack their rigs in the concourse!?
  15. True.. check out the rig on the Pub "Who's baby is it?" under an xray.. i'm told these new color xrays have certain colors for "organic substances" to help with bomb detection.
  16. Humm.. that would suck on repacks. You've been checking your rig? See that is something I would only do if forced to. My rig is my baby, and she is very expensive. Why would I want to take the chance of: A) Someone else picking it up @ baggage claim B) It getting shipped to abudabi C) It getting damaged from other luggage. I heard the same thing about Israeli airlines in general, that not only they had armed personel but also plain clothed military.
  17. In lieu of all of the crap that is going on, we all know that there are going to be huge changes in how you get on an airplane in America. It will probably become more like that in Israel where you HAVE to get to the airport 3 hours ahead of time, and can't just show up 30 minutes before the flight leaves. With all of this, I fear how it will affect us. I haven't had the opportunity to fly on any commercial jet with my rig, but have talked to many who have stated that it really hasn't been that big of a deal to take a rig on a plane. You guys think this is gonna change? Although no parachutes were involved with these incidents it's something that is going to be looked at i'm sure.
  18. Dude, I didn't realize you lived in MD.. what is your home DZ? I just moved to Northern Virginia from MS.. jumped at cross keys last weekend.. orange all the others.

    sexy...!

Gawd man.. this is just pushing it.. we went from flying a bed sheet to flying a pillow cover. What next? "Luigi comes in on a .5" Is it skill or stupidity? And what is keeping this guy alive - luck or good pain killers? I don't know that much about him other than the picture of the "parachute" he had in his hands a few months back in parachutist..
  20. Okay.. I just got off the phone with the DZO, a good friend of mine -- he said somone kicked in the door to Mike Browns shop (which is seperate from all the tandem/student gear) and took 8 rigs. I am assuming they were a combination of the rigs mike was selling as well as rigs he was working on (repacks and whatnot). He is supposed to be getting a list of serial numbers and whatnot. On the same note - my fucking altimiter was stolen at skydive orange this past weekend. I put it down with my stuff and it vanished. Pisses me off as well, but at least it wasn't my rig or my camera. It was a unique alitmiter (for orange at least) it was a black sapphire (i think it was called sapphire) it doesn't have the finger ring on it, it's an elastic band that goes around your hand. At any rate.. this is getting crazy. Kevin
  21. Woah, that used to be my home DZ - what happened? What was stolen? This is the first i've heard of this!
  22. Ok guys, I just recently moved to VA (like 2 days ago) but this happened at my old DZ, gold coast skydivers in Mississippi. Evidently this past weekend a tandem had a lineover malfunction which he cut away from - when he deployed the reserve he had tension knots which made the canopy extremely hard to maneuver. They hit a pine tree the tandem student is in the hospital with compression fractures, the tandem master had to have stitches but that was about it. That's all I know at this time, sorry. 23. Arthur Anderson? Don't you have a consulting company? :) I'm Kevin Orkin - A computer security analyst for WorldCom by day, an EMT for American Medical Response by night, skydiver by weekend, and motorcycle rider whenever I have time. :) http://www.interone.net
  24. Well I must admit that I was pretty eager as well... I bought my first rig before my first jump (long story, got a real good rate on it) -- was a cruiselight 220 in a vector container. Quickly found out that it was too big after I had a backwards landing due to wind. (I only weigh 135)... I quickly started jumping smaller gear went from a 220 to a 150 then 150 to 135.. then I bought my Hornet (135).. it was a quick transition but I felt comfortable with it. I strapped a camera on my head at around 50 jumps and now have become pretty accomplished with videoing RW. Now before I get flamed for the camera let me give my 2 cents on it. I think camera flying in its earlier days was considerably more dangerous than today. The cameras of last year even are a lot larger and heavier than todays. I jump a PC5 on a bonehead helmet. The camera itself is very small, very light. While it still can be a hazard for malfunctions, I am comfortable with cutaway procedures of both the parachute and the helmet. Being quick to learn is one thing, being stupid is another.
