  1. Not really interested in doing either of those things. Jut curious as to what you believe.
  2. Your explaination really didn't explain much regarding a soul. Do you think there is life after death or something of a person that lives on?
  3. Interestingly enough, I do believe in God, and I completely agree with this statement. Wendy P. That is pretty odd. If you agree with that statment then how does the idea of a soul fit in with it?
  4. It's a great dropzone. You shouldn't have any trouble finding people to jump with. They generally always have someone around organizing.
  5. I think things like this are not so much an educational problem as they are a personality problem. I have met the occaisonal self described "natural" who is not interested in advanced canopy classes and would not benefit from any class due to their ego. It seems that these people can only learn through severe pain and we can either ground them and hope they learn or hope they femur and don't take anyone out in the process. All this talk about mandatory advanced canopy class will help those willing to learn, but will do nothing for those who believe they are "naturals".
  6. What you think I "suggest" is a product of your imagination, not what I actually wrote. Ergo, any conclusion you draw based on that suggestion is invalid. No, my conclusions were based on what you wrote. I quoted your writing. Try rereading what you wrote and if it wasn't what you meant then revise what you wrote.
  7. I don't know how robinheid came up with "bias, prejudice and pre-conceived notions". Like you I have never met Bill Dause, have never jumped at Lodi, know pretty much nothing about his history and I also don't know and have never met robinheid. If my conclusion based on robinheid's post was incorrect and I was not the only person to arrive at that conclusion then I submit that either it really is what he meant or he is just trying to stir shit. To me this part of the post suggests that it's ok to ignore FAA requirements if they are deemed useless. Therefore robinheid by his words is supporting Bill's not maintaining his aircraft according to FAA regulations. If that isn't what robinheid meant then he needs to be more clear in his statements.
  8. But that is the way your post came across. I was not the only one who came to that conclusion. Maybe you need to rethink what you wrote.
  9. With all those risks that you have outlined for a DZO, the smart DZO's would make sure their planes are well maintained in order to minimize the risk. Your apparent belief that complying with the FAA mandated maintenance isn't necessary since Skydiving is a risky business doesn't make any sense at all.
  10. I was thinking the same thing as I was reading through this thread. I remain unconvinced that the problem is AFF training. That is not to say that AFF doesn't have any room for improvement.
  11. Well I kind of thought I answered that question with the rest of my second post, but no I wouldn't really like it. But like I said not much I can do about that. No one in my family frequents dropzone.com or even have any interest in skydiving.
  12. I won't be able to do anything about it and as far as I know dead people have no feelings. I would prefer to not have my death discussed here on dropzone.com, mostly because I think it's a waste of time. These forums serve more to entertain then to teach. I don't like the idea that my death would serve as entertainment for others. But there isn't anything I would be able to do about it.
  13. If I had it to do over, I would get as much tunnel time as I could afford. You will learn to freefly much more quickly in a tunnel and avoid learning some bad habits.
  14. I don't think it's a good idea and I have done that before. Texas has probably the best economy of the listed choices. I definitely would not move to Chicago. Unemployment there is pretty high. I think the best idea is to find a job in one of those areas first then move once you have accepted an offer. Life is a lot easier when you aren't desperate.
  15. If I should die skydiving, I won't care what anyone says cause I would be DEAD!!!

    Monogamy

They were talking about something similar on the radio this morning. They discussed the behaviour of kids from families with step-parents or single parents versus traditional family units. I think that it is a flawed assumption, chances are a child with a step-parent has had at least 1 dishonest or badly adjusted parent (divorce through cheating, abuse etc). If you take into a account families where the couples are still together there is a good chance that they communicate with each other, work through problems and are generally healthier mentally and socially. I guess that as crime rates in Saudi are lower than the US maybe it is because they allow polygamy I can't think of any reason that polygamy would have any affect on crime rates. I personally don't care it polygamy is legal or not. I don't even understand the whole issue at all. Why bother to get married! If you want to have 5 wives why go through the trouble of marrying each one! There is no law against sharing your life with multiple women.
  17. I did my AFF at Williston in 1998. I really liked that little dropzone.
  18. Keep looking through the classifieds and look at buying one component at a time. It can make buying a rig cheaper. That's what I did for my first rig.
  19. Ron, That is just crazy talk!! Living with in a budget!!! Who wants to do that!!
  20. Just throwing this out there, but it seems to me that maybe the TI here was trying to fit in and be one of the "guys" by matching the other TI's joking and it didn't come out right and offended the student? I personally don't think it's a good idea to joke like that with a paying customer that you don't know at all. I think TI's should keep their jokes tasteful and more specific to skydiving.
  21. Why do you say that? There's no proof of what you say. "Faith" is the things hoped for, and not seen. Your response makes no sense at all. There is no evidence to support any deity at all. Hoping for something yet never seeing it? Defining faith isn't helping your cause. As soon as anyone can produce any evidenceof a deity that can be tested and repeated then I will start believing.
  22. There is nothing to support your belief so no reason to fear the wrath of any god.
  23. Yeah There aren't very many Moose in Mexico. So I think it's pretty safe to say it wasn't a moose.
  24. No, but my grandfather on my Dads side was bitten by a donkey once.
