  1. It's Jet A fuel and I think it's more like kerosene.
  2. I found some dirt under my toe nail. Coincidence?!! Or might there be a connection?
  3. I have watched a friend jump a canopy that he designed and built and then jumped as a tersh. Pretty exciting to be around and witness. He ended up cutting it away and landing his normal main. It was oscillating too much to land. I don't know if he ever finished the design. But pretty cool to watch him test it.
  4. I like you Chuck, but you make a lot of assumptions. I never said anything regarding kite flying or soaring. Let me make myself clear. I don't think that adding a wind turbine to a wind tunnel will be efficient enough to over come the added costs in operating the wind tunnel. So to compensate for the inefficiency the consumer would have to pay more per hour of wind tunnel time. In the end it would be easier to just raise prices rather then go through the trouble of installing wind turbines to generate power. As for the kite flying or soaring well that's a whole new topic that would require research. I don't know if there is a demand for such a product and if so how much of a demand. Is it worth building? I don't know.
  5. I don't think it would make up for additional costs. I see it like building a big fan to power a wind turbine. It just isn't going to work out as money making deal. Unless you charge more for the tunnel time to cover the inefficiency of generating power.
  6. BTW, I think all the new tunnels are recirculating.
  7. The way I see it is to turn on a vacuum cleaner and notice that any restriction of the air flow either from the intake or the exhaust will cause the motor to work more. And by causing the motor to work more it is using more electricity and is less efficient. So adding any additional use of the airflow of a wind tunnel will decrease the efficiency and cost more money.
  8. I met Mat Hoffman a couple of weeks ago. He and bunch of other guys showed up at Skydive Dallas to do some jumps. He seemed like a really nice guy and fairly quiet. Not brash or loud. I didn't know who he was till someone else said something and even then I didn't recongnize his name and had to Google him. He has led a very interesting life.
  9. No, you will not have to write to a Blu Ray disk. By writing to the AVCHD format you can write the video to a dvd-r and it will play on a Blu Ray disk player in full 1920 x 1080 or 1440 x 1080 depending on the video. You won't be able to play that video on a non Blu Ray disk player. There is no way to get full HD quality on a DVD-r that will play on a DVD player. The video will have to be written to mpeg 2 for DVD players.
  10. Look up writing to DVD in AVCHD format for playback on Blu Ray disc players.
  11. I don't know of any DZ's that would ground you for that.
  12. Even the most "evangelical" of atheist doesn't compare to the sheer numbers or devoutness of religious "evangelicals". I find it amazing that many Christians in the US consider themselves persecuted and truly believe that Christianity is under attack!
  13. Thank you. It looks like there will be a big turn out this year for VFS. I am on Skydive Dallas Axiom. I always look forward to Nationals! Can't wait!!
  14. This will be my fifth year competing at Nationals in Advanced VFS. I don't see any need for grippers and hated them when I did have them. I much prefer the more form fitting suits. My current suit is the Vertical Suits Inverted Hybrid. It's made extra tough for tunnel flying with wind proof zipper and spandex. It's very form fitting in the torso which I really like and has the high collar, stirrups on the feet, spandex hidden cuffs. I have been very happy with the fit and how it flys in and out of the tunnel. For VFS I can't think of any way to make use of a type of booties. I wouldn't want anything to slow my fall rate down. Now for someone bigger and heavier then me I might see a need for that. My suit is made for a medium fall rate. I think for my next suit I will try fast fall rate. I am 165 lbs and 5'8" so I really don't need a slow suit. Although I think a fast suit would be harder to fly in the tunnel especially during the summer. I also want to add that compared to the old school baggy legs and arms the Vertical suits are way more smooth and easier to fly. Having that baggy suit flapping makes it harder to be precise and after a lot of time in the tunnel it really hurts.
  15. But but it's change you can believe in ...
  16. Some FF suits have grippers. I don't see booties ever being added to a FF suit. I personally don't see a need for grippers and only had it on one suit and I hated it. My current suit is from Vertical suits and it has spandex back and spandex on the inside of my thighs. It's pretty tight in the torso. I couldn't ask for a better fit or a better suit.
  17. You are very good at missing the point. Or just ignoring it. Not sure which.
  18. I couldn't care less about either the Palestinians or the Israelis. Both are contributing to the problems and are deserving of the results.
  19. Nice fantasy, but there is no evidence that any of it is real.
  20. You have very flawed logic in regards to religion. You apparently think it's exempt from needing any actual evidence of any kind to be credible.
  21. I don't know about that. I have met some pretty cruel people that I would consider wicked. I have never seen any ice giants... so which god has the better track record?
  22. I would also like to point out that there is no evidence of anybody being saved from anything by the Bible. There is no evidence of any life after death or of any soul or spirit that lives on. So what you have is a lot of claims with no evidence.
  23. So has the Koran and many other religious books. It doesn't make the Bible any more credible.
  24. Prove it. You make a lot of claims now show the evidence to support it.
  25. can assume that because it says its from "God" that it must be. You guys are very good at rationalizing and ignoring the inconsistencies in the Bible.
