  1. I bought a new canopy earlier this year and didn't really see much of a difference in price between the different dealers. How much difference are you seeing so far? I went with John Storrie. You should check with him. If you don't have his contact information let me know and I will PM it to you.
  2. I guess the thing is what incentive is there for anyone to put forth the effort to get a D license? What is it needed for that people want? Other then a TI license or awards what is there? If you make the D license harder to obtain then it will need be worth more or people like me won't bother with it. Hell I don't see a need for it right now. I don't want to be a Tandem Instructor. Right now I don't even want a coach rating. Right now my focus is on competition and pushing to win VFS Advanced first place at Nationals. Also I don't care about labels you call me an Advanced Student and it wouldn't bother me at all. Now standing on the podium at Nationals! That's something!
  3. I have a C license. Not having the D license would only stop me from being a Tandem Instructor or getting any of the awards. That isn't much of incentive to go through the trouble to get a D license. Saying it changes me from an "Advanced Student" to an "Experienced Skydiver" doesn't mean anything to me either. It's just a label. I have done night jumps. I have all the qualifications for a D license I just haven't done the paper work. I just don't see any need for it. Just to add to this, for the longest time I only had an A license. I could do everything I wanted to with an A license. I didn't get my B and C license till I had over 900 jumps. I only got those because I wanted to compete at Nationals and I got in trouble for jumping a camera with out a C license. I had been jumping with a camera since jump number 430! No one thought to ask what license I had because I had double the recommended number of jumps.
  4. I really don't have much of an interest in a D license or any of the awards. The only awards I have is the CRW 4 stack and the SCR award. None of the other awards mean much to me, even those two aren't that important to me. What I consider to be worth going after is first place at Nationals in VFS Advanced and Open. Now those are hard to get!
  5. The "* 4pt VRW" is probably the most difficult example in your list. Especially if it were a 4pt 4 way VFS! With out any tunnel it would take probably a 1000 jumps to achieve. Depending on the person.
  6. This is the only part of what you said that I disagree with. You can learn to fly slower and faster on your belly better then you can in the sky. The tunnel will help your over all freefall skills and it is faster and easier to learn freeflying in the tunnel. The added plus is you generally won't learn any bad habits when it comes to freeflying especially.
  7. I have only had one cut away malfunction and it was a spinning malfunction. I immediately realized I had very little time to either fix the problem or cut it away. Initially I started to fix it, then realized I didn't have time and cut it away. I never looked at my altimiter. There was no time to check my altitude.
  8. Yes sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. They kind of threw out common sense when it came to the housing market.
  9. I think the bigger issues are when the Gov trys to manipulate or control a market, like the housing market.
  10. And the biggest reason is the consumers want cheaper products. BTW, companies don't pay taxes the consumers pay it. Because companies pass that cost on to the consumer. So if you raise taxes on companies they just raise the price of their products.
  11. BTW this has always been true for publicly owned companies.
  12. You're reading comprehension is not very good. You still failed to answer my question regarding letting go 10% of the employees in your argument. Your smart ass comment is unnecessary.
  13. Not really sure what your argument is here. Are you trying to say a company should have 10% more employees then they really need? It's always good for a company to have just enough employees to have the maximum amount of production possible. It's called being efficient.
  14. You are so melodramatic! This isn't slavery. It's not trading humans. These people have a choice, in fact they have lots of choices. They believe they have what it takes to win and are willing to put forth the effort and take the risks. You don't think it's worth it so you mock them and think it's like slavery.
  15. That's one end of the spectrum. You could also work as an intern in the hopes of getting hired on to a permant and much better paying position. What would you do for a position that would pay upper 6 figures? Some people would work for free for a one year to beat out everyone else and get that position. It's all risk versus reward.
  16. You have a very strange way of looking at things. By your logic no one would volunteer for those silly shows that have you do crazy things to win money.
  17. A D license is no longer required for competition. You can compete with a C license.
  18. It's not slavery if they are volunteers. Look it up in a dictionary.
  19. The USPA should not be in the business of loaning money in the first place, especially to staff members. Just my opinion.
  20. I think this is silly and a waste of money, but it doesn't compare to all of the religous propaganda that is out there.
  21. You really need to take it to a rigger and have it checked out. Your questions can't be fully answered with out inspecting the gear.
  22. I have witnessed an AAD save before also. And it's dirty dirty low! I didn't count the seconds but 15 isn't much. Either way the big lesson is don't jump if you don't have a 100% use of both hands. Yes you could loose the use of a hand while in freefall but that isn't the same as deciding to jump when you know you are not a 100% capable of pulling your reserve handle. One is planned and the other isn't. It's not worth the added risk.
  23. I don't understand it either. Song writers write about what they feel like writing about. Why should they be compelled to write songs regarding racism or a specific race? If you don't like it then write your own song.
  24. It's actually the other way around. It's much harder to learn the proper form in the sky. In the tunnel you don't have to worry about running out of altitude. You have an instructor right there with you to show you the proper form and even position your arms or legs for you. The tunnel will make you a much stronger and precise flyer in the sky. It's well worth the time and money.
  25. I don't think he actually met the seller in person. Just via email and phone as posted earlier. Getting into a fight with the seller would just make the whole matter even more complicated. Going to jail for assault and battery wouldn't be much fun.
