I don't know what you read. But she wasn't claiming the existence of the woman. Just a conflict of opinion as to the beauty of said woman. Even if it were a claim of existence of said woman. It would not be unreasonable considering it's easy to prove that women exist.
-
That isn't a claim of the existence of something. You can believe whatever you want. But don't be surprised if you claim something exists and get challenged on it.
-
In only the very loosest definition of term evidence.
-
Ah but there are those that claim there is evidence and can't believe that "personal insight" is not evidence.
-
You say this like there is some amount of evidence??! Check out the JREF challange > http://www.randi.org/site/index.php/1m-challenge.html They will payout 1 Million dollars to anyone that can prove anything paranormal.
-
They imagine all kinds of crazy things and give it important sounding words like metaphysical or supernatural to make it sound like it's something scientific. Yet not a shred of evidence exists to support their claims. And then you have insane reasoning like popsjumper that says that since by their own definition god can not be tested for, we should not ask for evidence. I assert that if there is no evidence then there is no reason to believe and in fact it is unreasonable to believe. Birds are proof that with enough hand-waving you can fly! Just don't jump off of anything while attempting to fly.

I am not saying anything about denying the existence of anything. Before believing in something it's reasonable to ask for evidence. What evidence is there for anything supernatural or metaphysical?

Is there any such thing? There is no reason to think there is a methaphysical or supernatural anything.
-
Who's condemning an entire program? All those bad-mouthing AA and similar programs. Can you point me to what was said that condemned the entire AA program? Good luck It appears to me that popsjumper must be reading something the rest of us can't see.

So, by that logic, the fact that I have not consumed any mind-altering substances for decades is conclusive proof that there is no basis for superstition? I don't think so. The fact that I do not drink, smoke, gamble or take drugs proves nothing in particular beyond that. Sure it does. It proves you never had the problem that I had. It seems that most skydivers would rather see a brother die in addiction than get sober through Christianity. You seem to be assuming that only through Christianity can someone beat their addiction?

Are you intentionally missing the point? His faith and belief work to make his life happy but doesn't work for his claim of God existing. If it did work then it did then it would work a 100 percent of the time and wouldn't work for non believers.
-
Thanks for pointing out the obvious but he was using his faith and belief as part of his claim of God's existence.
-
And that doesn't make the existence of God credible.
-
I agree and the point I was trying to make is that God is not needed to make those same improvements in life. Plenty of people improve their lives with out the Christian God or any god.

If you are not hitting the walls you're not trying hard enough!! Pushing yourself to learn more takes risk and in terms of the tunnel you risk hitting the wall.

You are kidding right? These statements sound like middle school. Are you really serious in making them? OK....you're not playing with all the marbles. Have it your way, my friend. Enjoy your life. I'll enjoy mine. Those are serious questions. He made the claim that God changed his life and personality, what evidence does he have that it was God that did that? People can change themselves if they are fully motivated to do so. His quality of life could have improved with out faith or belief in God, so how does he know those are what improved his life?
-
The person making the claim is the one with the burden of proof. The claim was made that god exists. I asked for the evidence to back it up. No evidence has ever been provided, so the only conclusion that can be made based on the evidence is that god does not exist. If it can't be tested and there is no evidence to support it then there is no reason to believe it exists. That is why your logic is faulty. I don't care if you respond or not. Your logic is faulty. Just because people imagine a god and then stipulate that he can't be tested doesn't mean he exists. And by the way, he was tested in the past based on the Christian folklore in the Bible. So it apparently is possible, but he just doesn't do that anymore.

I am happy right now. I am not happy in all circumstances. Why would believing in a deity that can't be proven to exist make any difference?
-
So you don't need to believe the Bible or be a Christian to be happy?
-
I apply scripture and wala, results...a changed life. It may not be enough evidence to hold up to scientific scrutiny, but it's certainly enough to sustain my faith. So if everyone applied scripture then their life will be happy and their life will change for the better?
-
How do you know this? If you have no evidence then why believe it? If you have no evidence of any god, then depending on one for your happiness is pretty sad. With out any evidence of a god it's impossible to have a relationship with such an imaginary being. I am not concerned with how you live your life. I do have questions as to why anyone would want to believe in something that has zero evidence to support it. If you have any evidence then put it out there so it can be tested.
-
So in a round about way you are saying you have to believe in god before you can believe in god?? Faith is belief with out evidence. Why do you think you couldn't be happy with out your belief in the Christian God? Do you think that no one can be happy with out believing in the Christian God?

How does he know he actually met Christ? What proof did Christ provide? Why doesn't Christ present himself to everyone and do some of the things he did in the Bible to prove who he is? I want to see him actually turn water into wine in a controlled environment.
-
Is that because you can't answer the questions? How do you know what you claim to know if there is no evidence to support it? How do you know you actually met Christ? How do you know there is a soul?
