How quickly you learn is different for every person. I have found the tunnel to be a total exercise in frustration, but very rewarding. Even after over 20 hours in the tunnel I still find it frustrating because I am always pushing myself to learn new and harder skills. Don't let the frustration hold you back from learning new things. Don't worry about how long it will take to reach your goals. Once you reach your goals you will find new goals to go after. It's fun to be able to be able to sitfly or fly on your head with others in the tunnel. Being able to do basic VFS 4 way is lots of fun.

In what situations can you fall out of the harness?
beowulf replied to ShcShc11's topic in Safety and Training
" ..................................................................... Bellybands are most helpful on large rigs ... like student rigs (250 - 300 square foot canopies), military freefall and tandem. As solo rigs get smaller (e.g. less than 200 square foot canopies), belly-bands get less and less important. Belly-bands do help prevent leg straps from wandering away from the crease where your thigh meets your buttock. Ah if only belly bands were fashionable... isn't there a trend coming with belly bands on VFS team rigs ? I haven't noticed that, but it could be going that way more for keeping the rig from moving around rather then falling out of the harness. I know of one Freefly team in the past that had a belly band installed so that their rig didn't move around when they were doing back flying. -
Canopy Collision video (thankfully non fatal)
beowulf replied to Fallcoholic's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
yeah, and to add to that if you can't fly relative to others then you have no business having a camera on your helmet. The only good thing about having the camera is to illustrate just how big of a dumbass this guy was. I hope he learns the right lessons from this. -
All I am trying to say is the Banks need to keep good records and follow proper procedures and robo signing is not it. Ruining a few peoples lives who haven't done anything wrong is something they need to fess up to and account for. The majority of people who couldn't afford the loans the took out can eat shit and die for all I care.

When a suit is beating the shit out of you and taking hair with it, it's more then not comfortable. A good suit is worth every penny and if you spend a lot of time in the tunnel it's well worth the cost. The majority of the tunnel instructors have custom fitted suits. I can fly with any suit or no suit at all but it's not worth it. I woudl rather have my Vertical suit. I am not an instructor. I have between 22 and 25 hours in the last two years. BTW I have had those floppy suits take the hair right off my legs when I was learning head down in the tunnel. It made it very hard to concentrate on what I was trying to learn. Couldn't wait to get my custom made Vertical suit.

There are a number of stories out there of people having their homes foreclosed on that were not behind on their payments and even had refinanced and paid off the previous loan and that previous loan had come to back to life. Banks had lost payments or documentation that a load and been paid in full.

Well I just bought a new suit, tie, shirt, belt and cuff links for a couple dollars less then $1000. So I guess that's what I would buy if I had $1000 to spare. Not sure I would ever really think of $1000 as spare money!
-
I forgot about that!! I love my Vertical suit! It's perfect choice is one of their stock suits is a close enough fit.
-
It's a good idea to have a nice fitted suit for the tunnel. Especially if you are planning a lot of tunnel time. I have had the flapping of the suits take hair off. It's hard to learn when your suit is flapping so hard it hurts.
-
I don't think I have ever seen a tunnel instructor using one of the generic flappy suits (student suits). I have always seen them using a custom suit. The "generic flappy suits" really suck to use unless you have to have the grippers for the instructors to hold on to you. Otherwise the flapping of the suit really hurts if you have to spend any extended amount of time in the tunnel.

beowulf replied to ShcShc11's topic in Safety and Training
At least once a day and twice on sundays! Just kidding! While it's possible to fall out of your harness it doesn't happen very often. The only accounts that I have heard of were tandem students that the harnes wasn't properly fitted to. -
They routinely redesign the currency anyway, to keep the counterfeiters at bay. So if it's decided to take it out, then take it out on the next redesign.

Yeah that's the French team. They took second place last year so the were shit hot then and upped it a notch this year.

It's got to be Kosher pork!

Well "gods" are generally considered to be supernatural so while I did add a little to it, it wasn't that much of a stretch. To be more accurate this is what I should have said. Which in a broader sense in my case means disbelief in the supernatural not just gods.
-
Well you don't know me that well. Atheism is about not believing in god. Which in a broader sense means disbelief in the supernatural. Reasoning is how I came to the conclusion that gods don't exist. Religions are about organized belief in a supernatural being or beings based on faith.

The dictionary has a lot of words in it and works pretty well.
-
Wow! That is a pretty incoherent paragraph of sorts. What is this word supposed to be >> perjectivaly is it supposed to be >> we need to think projectively so GOD can relate ??? If so that makes no sense at all. The rest of your writing is equally confusing..

I would think cattle rustling would be a little harder to get away with then in the late 1800s!

Wish I could be there, can't wait to see the video.

If you MUST teach creation myths in science class...
beowulf replied to Stumpy's topic in Speakers Corner
My bad. I thought you were up to speed on all the "God doesn't exist because you can't prove that He does. Show me the scientific proof that God exists" inanities. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. I don't think it's unreasonable to ask for scientific evidence that a deity exists. The Bible makes many claims of God appearing or doing things that were physically visible to humans. If the Christian God is real then it's not unreasonable for him to do some of those things today to prove he exists. Otherwise Christianity is just another mythology. -

Neither of those examples are strict sciences. -

I don't think religion will ever go away. Humans in general are mostly motivated by emotion not logic. Religion appeals to the emotional side and really has no logical support. Religion just feels right to many people and for them that is all they need to believe. It doesn't matter that it doesn't make any logical sense. Even if you point out the contridictions and illogical aspects of a religion they always find a way to rationalize their beliefs. We see it very clearly in all the religious posts here on this forum. -
Good thing she was pushed out! It could have been a major accident, as it is it was just a long canopy ride.

I agree. But to be fair, atheistic scientists should not peddle their religion in " science class" any more that those who believe in Intelligent Design. No one can prove what initiated the creative forces of the big bang singularity Are you trying to say the big bang theory is a religous mythology? Your post doesn't make sense.
