They haven't actually enacted the austeriy measures yet, so don't count your chickens before they have hatched. The next group of Greek politicians may undo everything they have agreed to. It's going to get even uglier very soon.

My all time favorite was "I drive better drunk because I am more paranoid"

So quit while you are ahead.

Nobody said skydiving or swooping is safe. There are worse things then dying. I have a friend who is paralyzed for life. He was doing a solo jump and working on flying head down. Had a premature deployment of his main. He was wearing a camera. His opening shock was so strong that the whiplash caused a seperation of vertabrae in his neck. When it came back together it was offset. If he wasn't wearing the camera chances are the whiplash wouldn't have been so bad. Not everything translates to fatalitys. And just because wearing camera isn't as dangerous as swooping doesn't mean it's safe.

You are still missing the point. Jumping highly loaded canopies is not for people with low jump numbers. Why because of the high risk. Just like jumping a camera is not for people with low jump numbers. The recommended jump numbers to be able to manage the risk of swooping highly loaded canopies is much higher then jumping a camera. Why can't you understand that?
-
And you continue to dazzle us with your ignorance. Whether you are flying camera or swooping the name of the game is stacking the deck in your favor. The more experience you have flying your body or flying your canopy the better you will be at managing the risk. Neither activity is with out risk. The 200 jump recommendation before jumping with a camera is just a bare minimum. Cameras are very distracting and jumpers with low experience are going to have trouble dealing with it. This has been illustrated many times. I know from experience. I started jumping a camera at around 450 jumps and currently have well over 1000 camera jumps. I rarely jump a camera any more because I am focusing on other things.

Let me refresh your memory. This is the part that I object to the most. This is where you essentially say that people with more experience then you are hypocritical and don't know what they are talking about but you do. Then you go on and advise the OP as to what he should do and provided him bad advice. Does that clarify.
-
What is scary about you is your inability to appreciate the experience of others and learn from them. It's much better to learn from others mistakes rather then make those mistakes yourself. Your posts make you sound like a teenager who knows better then their parents.
-
It's not much of a prediction. Whether or not you intended to give advice, by posting your opinion you did so. You seem to think that people with more experience can't be trusted and you know better. Not a very smart position to take.
-
As you pointed out yourself you have very little experience so any advice you give is short sighted and limited. It's much better to seek advice from those that have much more experience and have been there done that. Please avoid giving advice that is both dangerous and short sighted.

There is a weight limit. Someone who is truly obese would not be able to skydive. example: 5' and 400 lbs would not be able to skydive.

The overconfidence of tunnel instructors
beowulf replied to TunnelThrowaway's topic in Safety and Training
I question that. I can't think of anyone that I have met that thinks that way. -
The overconfidence of tunnel instructors
beowulf replied to TunnelThrowaway's topic in Safety and Training
I think you are making a very silly and unnecessary distinction. -
The overconfidence of tunnel instructors

And I would disagree with that wholeheartedly. Tunnel is a great supplement to freefall training...nothing more, nothing less. Now that's just being anal. Either way it's a supplement. -
FSDO requiring serial numbers for gear at a DZ?
beowulf replied to angryelf's topic in Gear and Rigging
The DZO isn't maintaining your gear, but it still would qualify as a CYA in case the FAA asked if the reserve card was checked as required. As far as the whole tax write off thing, I find that kind of grasping for straws kind of reasoning and if he wants to cheat on his taxes it's only going to come around bite him the ass not you. -
FSDO requiring serial numbers for gear at a DZ?
beowulf replied to angryelf's topic in Gear and Rigging
I am trying to figure out what you don't like about it? Nearly every DZ I have been to has requested my reserve data card. If they choose to make a copy of it, so what. No skin off my ass. -
The overconfidence of tunnel instructors
beowulf replied to TunnelThrowaway's topic in Safety and Training
In order for anyone to really pass judgment on what is being proposed the full proposal is needed. Otherwise you are just being a troll and stirring up shit. I think the tunnel is a great supplement to skydiving training. It's most certainly not a replacement. -

It sure doesn't sound like replacement to me. -
The overconfidence of tunnel instructors
beowulf replied to TunnelThrowaway's topic in Safety and Training
I was under the impression that they were proposing tunnel training as being more of a supplemental training for AFF Instructors. The guys that went through the AFF-I instruction with Jay are not going to be actual instructors till they have met the criteria already set for instructors. Your original post appears to be more hearsay then first hand knowledge. It's better to have the full story before making judgments on the merits of what they are proposing. -
Canopy Collision video (thankfully non fatal)
beowulf replied to Fallcoholic's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Depending on how close you are, you might not have time to pop both toggles and turn left. So I would go for a left riser. Either the front or the rear, most likely the front. -
I think it's kind of silly and unnecessary. But good luck. I don't care if it's recognized or not.

I have never owned a Liquid Sky suit, but the ones I have seen look great and the friends that I know that have them swear by them. Good for you, it will make a difference in your tunnel flying.
-
LiquidSky tunnel suits start at $435. The LiquidSky Freefly skydiving suits start at $335. Tunnel suits are built stronger and generally cost more. Remember that is with out any options.
-
What does reasonable cost mean to you? Liquid Sky suits are on the higher end of the cost scale for freefly suits. I think it's worth it. I prefer Vertical suits. Great jumpsuits are not cheap.
-
That would restrict lawsuits to only the people who can afford it. There by excluding the poor regardless of the merits of a law suit.
