ok, here i am, about ready to go get something to eat (well not now, but earlier), and my dad is packing up cloths and his gear, because he's leaving for arizona tommorow to go jump at eloy and coolege, bastard doesn't even invite me. but that's not the bad part, he tells me i need to put in cypress batteries for him. and i'm thinking ok, no big deal. i fire his reserve, open it up, pull out the cypess, and what do i get to see, he needs a four year. i go tell him, and he knew, and he just "forgot" to tell me that (he only "forgot" so i wouldn't argue right then). so now, he made me give him my cypress for the week. man i'm pissed. now i have 2 reserves that i have to pack, 1 right now, and one when the dumb cypress gets back from a 4 year. and i would of told him to just go with out his dumb cypress, but since he bought mine, and i live in his house, i figured i wouldn't argue too much. ok, i'm done letting off some steam now. later

i'm sure that is true. i had just heard this last one was a lot better/different than the other ones. but who knows. i just can't wait for the damn thing to come out. i really want to try it. later

ya, the only one that left what the guy who designs the like para gliding canopies, i think. the normal skydiving part is still there. later
-
Ya i saw that. i'm not sure if it was intintial, but hey it works out later

well, i'm not as experience as most, but i've swoops ponds a few times. and what i can tell you right now (i had to learn this the hard way) don't stick just 1 foot in too far. let me explain, i stuck my left foot in about 4 or 5 inches, really fast (i was going over the water, and just jabbed my foot down). you will do cartwheels. trust me. ask jeff mullins, he saw everything at rantoul. but, the way i do it, usually, i come over the water, and i kinda let my foot slide in slowly, and when it is in the water, i kinda let it slide back, under me. or, i do basically the same thing but with both feet, not a dead man, but just draging both, knees bent. later

hell, don't worry about it. getting up on that latter is dangerous. that's why i don't like it. much safer to get out at 13,500 (really) later

i know the guy who designed the smart reserve and the tempo. they are both very good reserves. the smart is tso C23-D. has been tested at crazy weights, well over the minimums (at least dominic told me that) Phree: and saying that tempo's are smaller than PD's, well that is true, i guess, by PIA standards the tempo is closer the the actually size than the PDR's are. a tempo 150 is like a 144, and a PDR 126 is actually a 138 (or is it 137) at tempo 170 is actually a 180, pdr 176 actually like 180 something (almost 180) pdr 160, up in the high 170's. so who says PD's way of measuring a canopy is right. look in the back of paragear, all the sizes there have been measured useing PIA standards. sandy reid has measured a lot of the canopies out of the market, and also given the pack volumes. and givin size for size, the tempo's just pack smaller. like a tempo 170 is actually a 180, but still packs smaller than any other (claimed to be) 170 out there. and at the moment, PIA is trying to come up with a new method to standerdize it. but getting all of the manufactors to do this, is difficult. as to someone saying getting a Dash M. i don't recomend it. the smaller ones (150 and below) or the sizes that are loaded up at all, stall very easily. like just below your shoulder. i don't like that personally. but it's not me hanging under one. (i could be a little biase, i have had a friend go in under a dash m with broken A and B lines, and had another friend break his back from his 120 dash m stalling, and onother break his wrist from his 150 stalling). i would recomend a tempo (used), smart, PDR (even though they pack big). i can't say anything about a techno, i have no experience with them, or have seen one. the new precision reserve looks good, looks very strong in the construction, and i have seen video's of the flight characterists, and they look good. Icarus is coming out with a reserve, it should be out in the next couple of months (about May i think, but i'm not possitive), and it seamed to sound good, but i haven't seen it's flight performance, but the construction looked strong. i also want to say, i don't want to start any big debates. this is all just my opinion. and opinions are like assholes...........everyone has 1, and they all stink later

i know that it isn't that far along, but it is coming to it. and i have no idea why. it makes no sence to me later

a little off topic, but my mom just told me yesterday that the homeland security is also trying to shut down general aviation (ie, no more skydiving). they want to make it so, when you fly, u have to file a flight plan or something (like you can't just go jump in the plane and go, i guess). or something like u can't fly over 3500 ft, or something like that. i'm not a pilot, and i don't follow up on this stuff, i just have heard. hehe, the swoop comps would get bigger, i mean, if we can only do like hop'n pops all day. later

hey we could freefly with him, while he's still huggin the beach ball on his belly to stay up with us i could see it now, if he makes a bunch of jumps, call icarus or pd for a crossed braced. "ya, i need a custom made vx (or velocity if he calls PD)" "ok, what size" "well um, 200 sq. ft" later
-
well, that would be like a tandem main. like the icarus 400, or sigma 395, set 400. something like that. um and then a tandem reserve. and i know that the racer tanem's can be used as a solo rig for students like that (it's tso'd for tandem and solo) and i heard that infinity will make really big rigs like that. but i'm not sure. later

Swoopers & Hookers, were you AFF OR S/L
skygod7777 replied to StevieBoy's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
i was a stactic line student, but i think it really doesn't matter which method u trained. one student should know as much canopy/flying skills when they come out of any corse (aff, s/l, iad, tandem progression) with a A licience. later -
now that would be impressive later
-
well i would say if you really think your going to fail (like really) then say fuck it, and start drinkin. but if u have a slim chance, then i say study AND drink that great tasting beer but just remember drink more than............no no study more than u drink, that's right. later

Splatwings, Spinettos, 9 cell, 7 cell Canopies and more...
skygod7777 replied to akaGQ's topic in The Bonfire
what can't anyone take a joke -
what they are, you still have your front and rear risers. they hold all your weight. then you have this third riser that has the gide ring on it. what it does is when you flare out to the side, it doesn't deflect the rear riser. that's pretty much it later
-
what differences did u find. when i had some on my heatwave, i loved them, but i found no real advantage. later
-
why do you want a water proof one?? u know every time u get it the slitest bit wet you have to replace the casing (even if you drag your toe, and have a little roster tail that splashed the bottome of the reserve tray.). this is what i've been told by my buddy that works at ssk (eric). i'm not sure if they have changed this, but last year when he asked this is what he said. now, since it's a fantasy rig, i'm sure that wouldn't happen. later
-
hehe. oops. i can't really give him too much shit, 7 am load at rantoul, first saturday. went up, swooped the pond (or attemped to). i stuck my feet in about 6 inches (i had on shoes, and alway go bearfoot) and fliped, it was nice. jeff mullins was right in front of me, he saw the hole thing. later
-
u could take up running or something. or like playing board games all day. u could give all your students lots of homework, and then u could have all that to grade hehe. later
-
well u know what i do, i go to FL to jump. i think i've taken like 3 trips down there. 2 for a week at a time, then i went for 2 weeks the last time i went. and i'll be going again in like 3 weeks. later
-
oh ya, what happened on this swoop anyway?? so the next time i see him i can give him shit. later
-
cool. ya ty's a great guy. kinda out there in left field though but he's cool. i think he's coming back to lost prairie for the season. i think. i know we tried to get him to come to my dz to manage the gear room (now it's my job), but that fell through. later

does he have red hair, in dred locks. and his girl friend's name is margeret later

i don't know of any like that. i think jay molestkey (sp??) the PD sponcered jay, has one of those helmets. later
