May’s Global Temperature coldest in 9 years
wolfriverjoe replied to brenthutch's topic in Speakers Corner
That is very true. I know a DZO who has gotten somewhat out of the 'owning a bunch of DZs' business and into the 'owning a bunch of airplanes and leasing them out' business. He's an A&P/I, does most (all?) of the work on the planes, and keeps them in very good shape. It's both a point of pride and very important for the revenue stream to be able to claim virtually no unscheduled maintenance downtime on his planes. Since most of the DZs that lease his planes are 'upper Midwest', they only use them in the summer, so he has all winter to to scheduled/preventative maintenance. The 'flagship' Otter had new engines (upgraded to the 'better' ones) and props put on a few years ago. However, the image that jump planes follow the cliche of 'first they're short-haul passenger planes, then cargo haulers, then go to the drug smugglers, then, they get the interior ripped out, a kickass stereo and floor mounted seat belts, a wild paint scheme so that they can fly jumpers for as long as the chewing gum holds them together' has more than 'just a bit' of truth to it. The above used to be in the 'skydiving' section of the "Uncyclopedia", but it got changed around a bit. For those unfamiliar with it, it's both amusing and disturbingly accurate in some respects https://en.uncyclopedia.co/wiki/Skydiving -
Wait a minute... You mean that AGW can cause LOCAL conditions to do strange and extreme things? Like drought in one region and monsoons in another??? Preposterous!!! (yes, I know what that word means).
-
Well, part of the reason for that is the Battle of Lexington & Concord. The one where Paul Revere supposedly called out the milita by shouting "The British are coming!!!" (the reality is a bit different from the legend, of course). The reason the Brits were going there was to confiscate cannons owned by the local militia.

135 is 'air taxi'. Charter aircraft carrying passengers from point to point. Since skydiving ops land at the same airport they take off from, it doesn't quite meet the requirements. Instead it falls under part 91, which is also where training ops and sightseeing flights operate. Fun fact: Way, way back when I was a CFI (a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away), there was a 'not quite to solo' student who was a lawyer. He wanted his private license for work purposes. He had an appointment a few hundred miles away, and I ended up being his 'instructor' for a dual cross country. I wasn't his main instructor, but I had some free time and was available. Since he was a legit student, and logged the time as dual instruction it fell under 'instructional purposes' and part 91. If he hadn't been an actual student, that would have been a part 135 flight and I couldn't have legally done it. -

Jump planes operate under part 91, not 135. A bit pedantic, but according to the Professor, I'm 'just an amateur' at that, so I'm working on my game. The part about 'timed out crap planes' is absolutely correct. Old King Airs are usually only worth the time left on the engines. The airframe has value only as scrap metal and maybe parts. -
When you show what Hunter's e-mails said. Standard troll technique. Demand proof & documentation from OTHER people, yet provide NOTHING for their own ridiculous claims.
-
Mueller himself said something to the effect of: "If I had found there had been 'no collusion', I would have said that. There's a reason I didn't say that." Regarding Hilary Clinton: Abso-fucking-lutely hilarious that Trump promised to "Lock Her UP!!!!!!", yet with 4 years to sic his own Attorney General on her, he did NOTHING. Was Trump that incompetent? Was Barr that incompetent? Was Hilary innocent of all of Trump's accusations?

Which is basically ignoring reality in favor of what he wants to believe. Which is all he ever does.

Well, it's the 'people killed' part that gets me. According to the NYT, nearly 5000 Afghans were killed in 2020 alone. I highly doubt there are 5000 people shot in Chicago in one weekend. Let alone the nearly 20k that would extrapolate for the 'entire Trump administration'. But that's what trolls do.

Well, Trump went on his "Truth Social" a bit ago and wanted to be reinstated as President or have a new election, immediately. And, of course, the idiots who believe the 'Hunter Biden laptop' story just lap this garbage up.

Yup. Heather Cox Richardson has done an excellent job of making this clear. Back then, the Ds were the party that wanted an 'elite' group of 'leaders' to make all the decisions. The 'uneducated masses' would be compliant slaves to them. The 'southern Democrats' had a lock on the politics. Elections were not technically rigged, but the outcome was never in doubt. After LBJ decided that 'those people' should have rights, and passed federal legislation toward that end, the 'old school' racists lost their shit (remember Wallace 'standing in the door'?) Once they realized that the Ds had more or less stopped supporting racism, the Rs took advantage, shifted their positions on a lot of things and took the south. -
Gotta love how the 'party of law and order' has ZERO clue how search warrants are executed and how the evidence is gathered. Of course the pic of the files on the carpet is 'staged'. The cops find the stuff they are looking for, then take about a bazillion pics of it in place. Then they take a pic of each individual piece as it's removed (including the rest of the stuff still in place). THEN they lay it all out in a convenient spot (kitchen table is a common one, floor is also one when the 'haul' is as big as this) and take an 'overall' picture. It doesn't matter if it's guns, drugs, money, stolen property... Or stolen classified documents. So to say that the pic of the files on the floor is 'staged' is technically correct. But that doesn't mean it was 'planted' or 'fake' or in any way improper. I'd bet a dollar that the FBI has a HYOOOGE file of pictures. Including exactly where they found everything, and pics of the cover sheets without the 'redaction'. Also have to love how well Trump incriminated himself. He said flat out 'that's not where I had those stolen classified documents.' And the lie about 'no representatives'. The lawyers were there the entire time.

Trump didn't use his own agreement with the Taliban (you know, the one where he shut out the actual Afghan government) because he knew it was shit. He knew full well the Taliban would take over (nobody knew how fast that would happen). Trump knew full well that the US would look like shit during and after the withdrawl. He knew full well that we'd leave behind a bunch of Americans, Afghans who would be in danger because they helped us and a whole lot of gear (mostly junk, but still "American Equipment left to the 'terrorists'). So he deliberately set up Biden to be in office when it happened. Look at how the Trumpettes went ballistic blaming Biden for Trump's withdrawl agreement. One of the few things Trump is actually good at is dumping blame on other people.

Finding Out of Service Gear for Practicing Packing Reserves
wolfriverjoe replied to GFry's topic in Gear and Rigging
Aaahhhhh... The memories. A brand new rigger beginning the lifelong quest to fill the basement with old, unserviceable, orphan and generally junk gear. Most lofts have a plethora of this sort of stuff. Many riggers do too. Sometimes they'll just give it to you. Some will send it for the cost of shipping. Where are you located? (there's a hint in there) -
I know people who wear a mask in the car specifically to piss off Trumpettes and the antivax/antimask/covid's a hoax crowd.

It's only illegal if you don't succeed. Or, in the case of the Confederacy, if the losers are forgiven and allowed to stay in positions of power.

I think you forgot something. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/2-air-france-pilots-suspended-fighting-cockpit-rcna45215 Funny thing: Type "Air France" into google, and half the suggestions are about the fight. Add "pilots" and ALL the suggestions are about it.

What the actual fuck are you talking about? Who the actual fuck is this "Big Guy"? Outrageous claims, lots of caps & punctuation. Lots of noise, no actual substance. No proof at all. Not even something as stupid as "Epoch Times" or "Western Journal". See a pattern?

What's the problem? They are treating Trump like a COMMON CRIMINAL!!!! They went to a judge with verifiable proof that Trump had stuff he wasn't supposed to. They used confidential informants, people who would be at risk if the information they gave the FBI (and their identity) was released. You know, like the previous reports of death threats against folks who posed a threat to Trump. When they executed the search warrant (that was legal and proper), they found evidence of crimes. THAT'S the problem.

May’s Global Temperature coldest in 9 years
wolfriverjoe replied to brenthutch's topic in Speakers Corner
Well, it would be an imaginary 'liberal'. Because I'm not aware of any credible sources claiming that '1/3 of Florida would be underwater' by now. If the Antarctic ice cap melts, then yes. But while it is melting, and fairly quickly (on a global time scale), it has a long way to go. -
Germany says coal is more important than people
wolfriverjoe replied to brenthutch's topic in Speakers Corner
Seems to be a book, not a site. From the reviews, it seems to be standard denier garbage, including the concept that the global average temp hasn't increased since 1997. From one of the reviews (German translated into English by Google): Amazon site where I found the book: https://www.amazon.com/Die-kalte-Sonne/dp/3455502504 Somehow I doubt that Brent actually read the book. Just that he found the 'damning info' on one of the idiot denier sites and parroted it. -

Making up 'quotes' to dispute what others have posted. And not linking ANY sources for them, making it pretty clear that those 'quotes' are a figment of the poster's imagination. -
Given everything else he's posted, are you surprised? I'm not.

Project Veritas 'manufacturing' news? Using illegal and underhanded methods to obtain damaging information? Nooooo. That would NEVER happen. -
You didn't include the source for these. It was the White House Twitter account that posted these. Turns out that Biden is getting fed up with the lies & hypocrisy. And he (they) are starting to call them out on their shit. https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/white-house-twitter-account-clapped-000543764.html
