The "It's the Constitution" argument is pretty lame. When there is a clearly outlined procedure for changes, it's hard to argue that it shouldn't be changed. It is hard to do. It's meant to be that way. But it's doable. Even for stupid stuff. Like the 18th amendment (Prohibition of alcohol). Many state constitutions can be amended by a simple majority referendum. I have a problem with that. It's not all that hard to whip up a very small majority to vote for something that most people don't care about or aren't willing to put an effort towards. Prop 8 in California is a good example. A small majority of the people who actually voted was all that was necessary to deny rights to a group of people. An even smaller fraction of eligible voters, smaller yet of the entire population. And they amended the state constitution based on that. The last time a real amendment to the US Constitution was attempted was the "Equal Rights Amendment" back in the '70s. It had been put before Congress for a long, long time until it passed there and was sent to the states. It never made it. The examples given above of "Proposed Amendments" are pretty stupid. And they seem to all be "restrictive" as far as rights go. They are looking to deny rights to people, rather than grant them. And very, very unlikely to go into effect. I have little or no problems with amending the Constitution. As you point out, some rules are flawed, some don't apply anymore and some stuff was never thought of by the "founding fathers." Correct. But the only people who were willing to break the law were the people who made the video. The PP rep made it clear that selling was illegal. In case you haven't figured it out, the entire video was a sham. An "agent provocateur" attempt to portray PP as law breaking, fetal tissue selling 'evil-doers'. The story of the women attempting the Ranger course has been bouncing around the news and FB for a few weeks. It's been made pretty clear that the course is the same for all candidates. There have been previous discussions about how the course has changed over the years to adapt to lessons learned in the field. But none of those changes were made to make it easier for the candidates to pass. The women are reported to both be West Point grads. Resent away. You chose to jump into this argument. Those are direct quotes from congresscritters (or candidates) about why abortion is unnecessary. They directly apply to your idea of "If you don't want a baby, don't get pregnant." If you don't want an abortion, don't have one. However, you don't get to decide what everyone else should do (neither do I, but I don't tell other people what to do). "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." - Churchill Of course, some of the technical advantages in C&C and early warning (noted in the linked article) gave the Brits some advantages. The lack of a heavy bomber in the German arsenal was also a big factor. If they had possessed anything on the scale of a B-17 or B-24, the outcome would probably have been far different. The Ju-88, He-11 & Me-110 were very cool planes, but they didn't have the payload to pack a truly "big punch." Interestingly, they found a bomb in London last week. Those sorts of things show up every now and then. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo

Well, new reports are saying that the two women are going to graduate because they passed the course. The real course, not some 'watered down' version of it. 381 men and 19 women started it. 94 men and 2 women finished it. http://www.cnn.com/2015/08/18/politics/women-graduate-army-ranger-course/index.html Congrats to all the graduates. That course is a serious mind-fuck, body-fuck and soul-fuck. The candidate has to really want to wear the tab to make it through. And IBTM. Yes. From openings to "In-flight" handling to landings. Lines will shrink over time, and the canopy starts to act "funny" a reline can bring it back to original performance. Some canopies have optional "trim packages" to upgrade the performance. Brian Germain's Jedi has the "Eagle Trim" package. There are probably others out there. And the New England Journal of Medicine (that hotbed of liberal politics) has published a few articles recently that show what the reality of Planned Parenthood's policies and activities are. http://www.dailykos.com/story/2015/08/15/1412371/-New-England-Journal-Of-Medicine-Will-Spin-GOP-Anti-Choice-Heads-And-Expose-The-Truth-About-PP# "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Something like that, depends on how you define "camp". Around here we call it a "cottage." IIRC, there was an ATV that had been damaged a few times by the thief trying to hotwire it. I found this on a research site, you have to sign up (and pay) to read the whole text. Guy got 6 months. Burglar got 5 years (different page on the same site). I'm not a fan of setting lethal booby traps. They guy was totally in the wrong for doing that. Even "aimed low" a gun is lethal force. But I can sympathize with why he did it. The thieves steal the camera. There was a case in western Wisconsin a few years back. A guy from the Minneapolis/St Paul area had a cabin in WI. It kept getting broken into. So he rigged a shotgun. Aimed low enough to not kill, just injure. The burglar got a serious surprise. When a cop found him limping down the road, the burglar didn't want to tell the cop what happened. So the cop followed the blood trail in the snow back to the cabin. Owner faced a variety of charges. Did most of a year in jail for it. It's called "Harassment." And it's something that is civilly litigatable (MHS can sue her for it). Her repeated, false accusations that MHS is deliberately making as much noise as possible, that the noise is "intolerable" and all the other stuff go a long way to meeting the standard of "harassment." Her publicly posting and publishing this stuff (on her FB site, in the local paper and on other websites - some of which have been linked in this thread) go even further. MHS's lawyers already sent her a "Cut It Out" letter, which is the first step in a harassment suit. She seems to have toned it down some. Whether it's enough or not is the purview of MHS and their lawyers. A harassment suit could be a very effective way of shutting her up. A court order to not say nasty things about MHS that are demonstrably false, along with contempt penalties for violating it, would be a nice thing. However... they aren't always cut and dried. And if MHS pursues it (at their own cost) and loses, someone (she who shall not be named) would have a hell of a lot of ammunition to use against MHS. It's very much a "two edged sword." And I wouldn't be too surprised if MHS chooses not to pursue it. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." If you're planning to go even slightly off the main highways, buy some paper maps. They still have them??? Yep. They don't break, lose signal, have dead batteries, ect. And when they are incorrect, you just take a pen and write in the correct information. I actually use my big road atlas quite a lot. It's great for getting a bigger view, to get an idea of how I want to go to get where I'm going. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Riots over a shoting turn into free jordans and 40's
wolfriverjoe replied to Anvilbrother's topic in Speakers Corner
I had heard (or thought I had heard) that there had been peaceful demonstrations for several days before the anniversary. It would have either been NPR or CBS radio. I can't find it anywhere, so I could be mistaken. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo -

I agree about their right to peaceful demonstration. Let me know when that happens. You mean like the ones that occurred for several days before this blew up? Think "in escrow." The court holds the money so that they are certain that CQS isn't using an appeal as a tactic to get out of paying. They don't give it to MHS until the appeal is done so if CQS gets the ruling reversed, they can get the money back easily. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Well, in Orange County CA, the entire prosecutor's office has been booted from a court case. https://www.techdirt.com/articles/20150602/08012431179/orange-county-das-office-along-with-250-prosecutors-kicked-off-murder-case-widespread-corruption.shtml And if you don't like that particular story: https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&rlz=1C1TSNO_enUS478US478&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=orange%20county%20prosecutor%20corruption "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." I've been pondering this for a while. Being right next to an Otter isn't a "quiet" experience. But it's not all that loud. For short periods of time, ear protection isn't even needed. Ya want loud? Really loud? Try the Harrier, F-35, B-1 or B-52. Being anywhere near (like within a few hundred yards) without ear protection is painful. As in it produces actual physical pain in the ears without some sort of hearing protection. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." When cops (individuals) violate a citizen's rights, its not the cop (individual) that gets sued. Its the department. And it's not the individual cop that pays the settlement or judgement. It's the department (taxpayer money). Making individual cops personally liable for their behavior would be a start. Making prosecutors liable for their misconduct would be a nice start too. Neither is going to happen. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo

Wait a minute... You took courses, practiced your drills, built your skills over time and jumps, made sure you knew what you were doing; and then down sized? Pfft. Where's the excitement in that? You clearly need to work on your "Madd Skilz." You should be on a sub-100 cross-braced by now. We really need a sarcasm font on here. Seriously, good on you for doing it right. You have got to be kidding. A newspaper hitting the ground being mistaken for a gunshot?!? Different brand of pickup, different color, different plate. 2 occupants instead of one. But because the suspect had made it clear that he was willing to kill cops, those guys panicked to the point that they opened fire on an innocent pair of women. They completely failed to properly identify their target before opening fire. If a civilian had shot someone under similar circumstances, they would be arrested, charged and more than likely convicted of Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Attempted Murder, Negligent Discharge of a Firearm, and whatever else the DA could think of. Well, a boat on a trailer is legal to take on the road. There may be a local ordinance about "non-street-legal" vehicles in the driveway. There's something like that in my city. It keeps the junkers out of the driveway - If it isn't roadworthy and registered, it has to be inside a garage. And the wingspan on a 152 is 33 feet. That will fit down most residential streets, as long as there's no oncoming traffic. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Well, apparently I'm going to do it. My laptop chewed through a lot of data last weekend. I have a 10g plan, and I got the "75%" then "90%" then "over limit" texts within about 45 minutes. 2.5g in less than an hour. Wasn't sure what was going on, so I shut everything down, went on different (free) wifi and monitored the usage, which was a bit high at first, then normal. Called tech support for my carrier (Verizon) and found out that they have had a lot of this. Apparently, MS is sending out W10 updates without any warning. And it doesn't show up in the "downloads" so there's no indication that my 'puter did anything. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit."
