  1. For the standard "Worker Bee", absolutely. There is virtually no way that classified material could "accidentally" be mishandled. But HRC is "special." First Lady, Senator, SecState. NONE of those are "ordinary" positions. And most people who hole those positions feel that the "normal rules" don't apply to them. And in many (most?) cases, they don't. I would like to know what "Take full responsibility" means. Does that mean she is going to give up any and all security clearances? Or attend remedial classes on how to handle classified material? Or is it just something convenient to say that means about the same as what any politician usually says... Nothing. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 2. A friend runs a shop, he had a dude bring in something similar to this: http://www.v8bikeriders.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20366 Bench seat, handlebars that ran through a linkage to the (single) front wheel, 327 Chev small block. TH350 trans. Plated as a m/c, fast as all hell (next to no weight and lots of power). It could sit three across. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 3. That "93 million" is counting (roughly) 30 million people who are full time students and 40 million who are retired. So much for "93 million who have given up looking for work because the economy is so bad." It's only off by a factor of (about) 4 1/2. http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2013/jul/30/blog-posting/are-90-million-americans-not-working-or-looking-wo/ "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 4. I've long held the belief that people need to pass a basic intelligence test before being allowed access to the internet, too! Naaaah. Posting on the internet is by itself a pretty good intelligence test. I had no clue how gullible, or prejudiced or hateful some of my friends were until I saw the garbage they posted on FB. 5. In principle, I agree with you. In cases like the story here, it wouldn't be difficult to charge/convict him of a crime that would result in him being disqualified from owning firearms for 10 years if not for life. If this guy survives (I haven't looked into updates on his condition) I'm all for it as it doesn't run afoul of the 14th amendment. Unfortunately, officials in California (namely county sheriffs with whom such authority often lands) are demonstrably unfit to make subjective determinations about the ability to exercise firearms rights. Extending such subjective determination authority to ownership is something I'm adamantly against. As an aside, I've been reading a lot of court opinions and amicus briefs recently, and I think people in the media and casual Internet debaters on both sides of the argument take the "the second amendment enables the others" argument too literally. I don't think armed revolt is the picture people should get in their heads. The picture people should get in their heads is the crowd of Brady Campaign and other groups' supporters cheering on a circuit court that decided that the popular perception of safety was enough of a public interest to justify laws that restrict individual rights. Nicely put. To address a couple points you made: I'm only aware of a couple situations that take away the RK&BA for a period of time. Most of the time, a felony conviction or "finding of mental shortcoming" is a permanent disqualifier. Getting that ban lifted is a long, arduous and iffy prospect. The only temp ban I know of is probation - often times a condition of that probation is not possessing guns (among other things such as no drinking, not associating with certain people, ect). And for that condition of probation to really be a temp ban, the crime has to be a misdemeanor. I would guess that the idiot in the OP, if he survives without any serious long term disability, could easily be charged with a variety of different crimes. Intoxicated possession of a firearm, conduct regardless of life, reckless use of a firearm, and so on. And I agree that in principle, training requirements, "stupidity disquals" and such would be a good idea. In the same vein, intelligence tests for voters are a good idea too. But those have been barred by the Supreme Court, for pretty good reason. Those reasons apply to gun rights as well. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 6. You have a good point. Arguing with the "true believers" using logic or actual facts is a fool's game. They believe what they believe, regardless of what the evidence shows. And FWIW, I am relaxed. If I get wound up over something that gets posted on here, I just walk away and take a break (you know, that "turn the other cheek" thingy). I don't use you guys as targets to vent my anger on here (you know, that "love thy neighbor" thingy). "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 7. Do you mean the "Spirt of Phreezone's post" being that stupid, narrow minded people refuse to believe facts? Or that people who hate Obama for ridiculous reasons will grasp at any straw to justify their beliefs? Arapio is an idiot. And I can't wait to find out what his "Earthshattering" evidence is going to be. I have a funny feeling I'm going to be waiting for a long time. Serious question, Ron - Who do you think would have had the most to gain back in 2008 if this had been true? Maybe HRC? She would have gotten the nomination if BHO had been DQ'd. And she most likely would have been elected Pres if she had been able to win the nomination. Given that she tried to keep the DQ'd Michigan delegates, I think she would have had no problem using this for her own personal gain, if she thought it had any validity. But she didn't. 8. I'd love to see the reaction from all of Davis' defenders if, say, a Muslim DMV employee refused to give Driver's Licenses to women because it was "against his religion." 9. Why? 'Cause it continuously exposes the ridiculous bigoted right wing chain-emails as fakes? No, because Barbara and David Mikkelson are CA liberals. No, they are not. I have yet to hear anyone but waaaaay right wing folks claim that "Snopes isn't always right." Usually when the idiotic, bigoted, ridiculous chain e-mails are debunked. There's lots of places where those "Simple questions" can be answered. And all of them (except for Brietbart, WMD, Blaze Western Journalism and the rest of the right wing fantasy sites) say the same thing: The "Obama Birth Certificate Controversy" is a load of garbage. Snopes is just the easiest. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo

  11. Yes, but the judge said the the other (her son) won't face any fine or jail time since the other deputies have agreed to issue the licenses. Why can he refuse? Maybe because he's just a deputy, not the actual "clerk." Maybe because the licenses are going to get issued. Maybe because the judge felt that one family member in jail was enough. I'd kind of like to see some sanction for his refusal, but I'm not too worked up about it. I did find it funny, though, that the licenses issued by the deputy clerks are going to bear Davis' signature. Apparently there were some pre-signed forms from before the kerfuffle. 14. Well sure it's going to be hard to get people to do a job when you're giving a large potential workforce of citizens money for doing nothing and they're not going to take a job for less than minimum wage in unsafe working conditions. Agri-business's and others need to either start paying wages that will attract legal workers or automate. Employing illegals for less than minimum wages in non compliant work environments is a crutch that needs to go. If you can come up with an automated way to harvest certain crops (tree crops are a big one), you will become very, very rich. A lot of people have been trying a long time to do that. And if you go to an employment office and offer minimum wage (or even something above it) for picking crops that can't be automated, you will either get a tiny response, or a workforce that picks very slowly. Migrant farmworkers usually operate on a "piecework" basis. Paid per amount picked. The harder you work, the more you make. Wages well above minimum are attainable, but it involves a lot of work. Traditionally, most people don't want to do the work. Another good example is meatpacking/slaughterhouse work. It pays well above minimum, but is mostly immigrants (and a lot of illegals). Anyone willing to do the work can get hired. Very few people who can find a different job (because they are legal) want to work there. It's a very hard, unpleasant job to do. Paying non-immigrant (legal or illegal) labor enough to actually get a functional workforce would drive food costs through the roof. But that's reality. A lot more complicated and full of problems that are a lot more difficult to solve than "Just deport all the illegals." "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 16. FAA Rigger Handbook. Available as a free download. There's a lot of info that you really won't need. And more than a few riggers will debate it's merits & shortcomings. 17. I don't see the "Black Lives Matter" folks as saying that their lives are better than other groups. Or more important. I think they are saying "Our lives are not less important. 18. Yes, but God told her to do it. From the article: See? It's all OK now! 22. How do you plan on doing that? You can't even edit posts after a certain time (6 or 8 hours IIRC). There's some very good reasons for that. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=4714989;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread But to your request for ideas: When to sit down. Whether for weather conditions, personal issues (either physical health like sinus issues, or personal problems that are serious enough to be a dangerous distraction), DZ safety issues, other jumper issues, whatever. There are lots of good reasons to sit out a jump or leave a DZ. A lot of folks may not want to do that. Including newer jumpers. It seems like too many newly A licensed jumpers feel like they aren't good enough to jump with other people. And sometimes it seems like experienced folk are "too good" to jump with the new people. If it wasn't for experienced jumpers being willing to 'put up with my newbieness" when I began, I wouldn't be where I am today. I choose to "pay that forward" by being willing to jump with the new folks. I keep it simple, make sure they are on jumps and in slots appropriate to their skill, and I make sure to tell them "You'd better not screw this up, that's my job." They are a lot of fun to jump with. Their enthusiasm and joy make up (mostly) for their lack of skill. They make me fly that much harder and better to make up for their shortcomings. Besides, I want people to jump with. Solos are nowhere near as much fun. So I make sure to include anyone who can safely jump. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 23. Of course not. I have a funny feeling that if the "Rapture" actually happened, there would be a lot of surprised and disappointed "Christians." I know more than a few of them. They've been "Born Again", they've felt the "Infusion of the Spirit', but they haven't actually changed any of their actions. Despite "giving their lives to Jesus" and "accepting Him as their Savior", they continue to hate, judge, condemn and disparage those they disagree with. They continue to be bigoted, selfish, and not very nice people. They pick and choose which parts of the bible they think should be followed. The actual teachings of Jesus usually aren't among them. You know, the "love thy neighbor" or "turn the other cheek" or "he who is without sin cast the first stone" parts. Especially the "You treat me as you treat the poorest and meanest among you" part. Somewhere there's a thing about those who "Follow me in word but not deed" and I'm pretty sure it's not a good outcome. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit."
