  1. Not very. I know lots of skydivers who take a fair amount of pride in their physical condition. But I also know many for whom the only real exercise they get is 12 oz bicep curls. Look around at the fun jumpers. Some are in great shape. Some... Not so much. Some are rather old. Some have significant amounts of tape holding their shoulders in place. There's not a whole lot of physical strength required. Grip strength to hang on during setup in the door, pulling down on toggles and risers under canopy. This question comes up every so often in the Ladies forum. Here is one example of suggestions for a woman who was having trouble flaring: https://www.dropzone.com/forums/topic/264158-having-issues-with-flaring/
  2. Why should he? He thinks it's true so it must be. I find it amusing that he's posting this at the same time as the release of the news of Manafort's additional sentencing and charges. I gotta ask - Why did it take this long? Trump's been in office for over 2 years. One of his campaign slogans was (and still is) "Lock Her UP!!!" His AG & the Justice Dept haven't bothered to investigate, let along charge HRC for all of this time.
  3. Well, keep in mind that a few folks who are posting had been previously banned. Apparently the ban list didn't follow from the old format. This has been discussed, and BillVon is giving these folks a second chance. Some seem to be happy to be back and are (mostly) behaving. Some don't seem to have changed much and are likely to see themselves banned again.
  4. Please don't 'sit and slide'. That's a good way to break your coccyx (tailbone). Or your back. Sliding is actually a very advanced landing technique. If you don't think you can stand it up, PLF. Learn to do a good PLF and you will save yourself a lot of pain & trouble.
  5. I think that's putting it rather mildly. I do believe his career as an actor is over.
  6. Don't bet on it. This is pretty standard practice. It's just that Smollet is reasonably wealthy and somewhat famous. If he was just a poor dude with a public defender, he'd be screwed. Not necessarily, although minorities get the worst of it. The bartender who was severely beaten by an off duty cop was white. Of course, all the other cops covered it up. She won a fairly large settlement. https://www.chicagotribune.com/news/ct-xpm-2012-11-14-chi-verdict-reached-in-cop-bar-beating-case-20121113-story.html
  7. The LaQuan MacDonald shooting. When it happened, the cops claimed self defense, feared for their lives, he was attacking, all that. They refused to release the video. The day before the video was to be released, as the result of a lawsuit, they charged the cop. The other cops who were there were part of the coverup. They filed false reports, lied about what happened, basic 'obstruction of justice'. The cop who did the shooting was found guilty of 2nd degree murder. A crime normally punishable by 20 years or so. He got 6. All the other cops involve were exonerated. Its the most recent example of how bad the cops in Chicago are. There are also many, many stories of people getting into confrontations with off duty cops who end up in a world of trouble. The justice system is so rigged there, it's not a surprise that Smollet is facing very, very serious charges. Multiple ones at that. I don't disagree that there should be consequences for what he did, but what they are doing goes 'above and beyond' reasonable.
  8. No. Because it's Chicago. The cop who was convicted of 2nd degree murder was given 6 years. The others, who covered up for him, were acquitted. Smollet made them look foolish. They don't like that.
  9. He's black. gay and liberal. Of course they are going to pile the charges on as high as they can.
  10. That's what the "plus sign" is for. I've seen it called "multi-quote" on other forums. You click on the "+" for each post you want to quote, then on the little box lower right when you have all the ones you want to quote selected.
  11. That's hilarious. Your memory is terrible. There's an entire thread. It's called "Baskets of Deplorables." Pages and pages of examples of Trumpettes acting like spoiled little kids, bullies picking on vulnerable people. Usually minorities. Feel free to start another one about all of those "Liberal attackers." Marc is so desperate for that sort of thing that he has to start 2 threads on the same incident.
  12. Of course he does. They say what he wants to hear. That makes them 'truthful'. CNN says things he doesn't like. That makes them "Fake News."
  13. You left out the part about a foreign policy that alienates and drives away our allies, destroys NATO, and empowers China, Russia, Saudi Arabia and North Korea. While Trump never stood up and bent forward at the waist, his treatment of KJU has been nothing short of servile. His excuses and justifications for the Saudis murdering Kashoggi are even worse. It's also apparent to anyone who looks closely that he is essentially in Putin's control.
  14. Actually? The NRA had a huge hand in implementing those laws. They were trying to prevent the 'revolving door' justice system, where thugs with a 'rap sheet' as long as your arm were committing more crimes. It was part of their response to criticism that they were just 'gun nuts' and the idea of self defense was a cover story. As was noted above, searching '3 strikes NRA' gives a plethora of results.
  15. Well, professor, I think we can make a few guesses at what sort of evidence Mueller has. One good guess is that Flynn had knowledge of the Trump campaign's dealing with Russia. Flynn was very tight with the Russians, and had been paid quite well for giving a few speeches over there. Somehow, I find it just a little bit of a stretch to think they paid him well into 5 figures for 'just a speech'. Mueller had Flynn over the proverbial barrel. While it is still a secret what charges weren't pressed, the fact that the judge told Flynn he 'sold out his country' and expressed surprise that Flynn wasn't facing treason charges (this statement was later walked back, treason has specific elements which weren't met) says volumes about what he was facing. The fact that Mueller recommended ZERO time in prison says that Flynn more than likely provided some pretty juicy evidence. Similar conclusions can be drawn about the immunity offered Pecker and the National Enquirer. Since it has been shown that paying women to keep their mouths shut about a candidate during a campaign is a felony, I would think that purchasing the rights to stories simply to prevent their publication would fall into a similar category. Offering immunity often (not always) implies that the person being offered immunity is vulnerable to prosecution, and is being 'let off the hook' for the information being provided. This is all pure speculation, but I'd be willing to place a bet on it. Of course, the Trumpettes are in full denial mode. Their liar in chief has taught them to call anything they don't like 'Fake News' and to deny anything that they don't want to be true.
  16. Ok, I guess I should have phrased that differently. I thought I addressed the 'battery acid' scenario with the 'obviously if something gets damaged' part. Back to my point - A rig is legal to jump for 180 days from the repack date, presuming it is maintained in an airworthy condition. Is there any way a rigger could shorten that? Short of putting an earlier date on the card to make it look like it's due for another repack sooner than it should be? I'm not aware of any. But I've been wrong before.
  17. I don't think a rigger can 'have the repack expire' at a specified date. The rig is presumed airworthy for 180 days after the date of the repack. Obviously, if something gets damaged, or a time controlled part of the rig (the AAD) 'times out', then the rig is no longer airworthy and cannot legally be used. But I have never heard of a rigger having the ability to alter the interval and say "This repack expires at this time due to..." Note - I don't pretend to be an expert, and I could certainly be wrong on this. I welcome correction if so.
  18. Manafort is rich & white. The woman in Texas (first one, the one on probation) is poor and black. Honestly, I'm surprised Manafort even got time behind bars. Normally someone of his "stature" would get probation. AOC on twitter:
  19. Where are you getting your information? I haven't seen any of this in the public news, which is all I have. I won't argue that they are trying to increase their arsenal & improve their capabilities. But I have yet to see anything that suggests they have any real capability at the moment. Maybe a handful of warheads, and a few missiles of questionable reliability. And even if they had more, and more reliable weapons, so what? The US has a LOT more. And lots better too. And, while it's been almost 75 years since one's been used, we are the only country to have ever used them. KJU knows full well that if he attacks the US with nukes, then the DPRK will cease to exist. I'm still waiting for an explanation of how KJU presents a real 'existential threat' to the US. Even several missiles would not destroy the US. It would cause a hell of a lot of death & destruction, but the US would persist. The idea that China or Russia would step in and take over a 'weak' US after some sort of exchange with the DPRK is fantasy. Besides, attacking the US is not anywhere in KJU's game plan. He wants to stay in power. His possession of nukes is a very strong deterrent to anyone trying to 'bring him down'. How do you propose to get China to betray their ally? They are allied with the DPRK for a reason, and it would take a lot to get them to abandon them. Trade talks? Ha. They are winning the "Trade War" the Mango Mussolini started. The trade deficit has risen to record levels. We have virtually zero leverage over them on trade. China has been allied with the DPRK since the communists took over in 1949. There's no way they would 'bring down' KJU or the "Kim Dynasty". Besides, what would replace it? Not unlike Iraq, there is a government of sorts in place. It's reasonably stable, although vicious, brutal and oppressive. KJU makes for a nice distraction in the region. China has a certain amount of influence, but not much real control. But if they 'brought down' KJU and his government, the chaos would be tremendous. The number of refugees that would inundate China would be tremendous. It is a huge stretch to imagine that they would do anything along that line.
  20. It's only March. Plenty of time left in the year for them to kill a bunch more.
  21. Thank you Jerry, I often find this little detail stuff interesting. You have a fascinating insight into so much that has been developed and created (yes, I know why - either you know the people or you were there for it).
  22. Well, first off, the DPRK doesn't have any "missiles pointed at us." They are still very early in the development phase. Second off, yes. The shorter the list the more 'exclusive' it is. You are implying that the DPRK is one of 4 countries in the world with nukes & sat launch capability. And their capability is very, very sketchy. And I'm still waiting for an explanation of how they present an 'existential threat' to the US. An EMP airburst, or taking out Seattle, San Fran or even LA wouldn't eliminate the existence of the US.
  23. I'm gonna guess that Trump has no clue that Audie Murphy was anything other than an actor. On a different note, the House has a panel investigating Trump on obstruction of justice, corruption in regards to campaign finances, misuse of office for personal gain and abuse of power in his attacks on the media, judiciary and law enforcement. So how does Trump respond? "I cooperate all the time with everybody." He also reiterated his position that there was "no collusion. It's all a hoax." Sanders said something similar: "Today, Chairman Nadler opened up a disgraceful and abusive investigation into tired, false allegations already investigated by the Special Counsel and committees in both Chambers of Congress. Chairman Nadler and his fellow Democrats have embarked on this fishing expedition because they are terrified that their two-year false narrative of 'Russia collusion' is crumbling." That's funny. The Judiciary Committee panel has not mentioned "Russian Collusion". Yet the Trump camp is denying it. The top R on the committee has said: "...After recklessly prejudging the president for obstruction," Collins said. "Chairman Nadler is pursuing evidence to back up his conclusion because, as he admits, 'we don't have the facts yet.' " Oh my God!!!! Pursuing evidence to back up his accusations!?!? How can he possibly think that is appropriate? Of course, the Rs had been 'prejudging' someone for various crimes and misbehaviors for quite some time. They just didn't bother with that pesky 'pursuing evidence' part. Link to NPR story where the quotes came from: https://www.npr.org/2019/03/04/699976689/house-judiciary-launches-probe-of-allegations-of-obstruction-by-president-trump
  24. That is not available to Mexican or Central American immigrants. Their only option is to show up and ask for asylum. Considering how badly US interference has messed up many Central & South American countries, it's a valid request, IMO. And that's what these people are doing. They are then treated like criminals, with 5 month old kids essentially being put in jail. Trump has publicly stated he is treating them badly to discourage others from trying to get asylum. It's not that they are criminals, or that they are trying to enter the country illegally (despite what the Trumpettes want to believe). It's that they have brown skin and Trump and his followers hate them.
  25. True, but the Rs have more to hide, more reason to be afraid.
