Yes, you need to keep better track of your altitude. As others have said, audible devices are just a backup. Get used to checking your altitude at least 5 times during each skydive. I like my Monarch. It flys fast, it flys slow, a pretty good sport canopy. I did have a few "brisk" openings, All I can say is roll the nose and Psycho Pack the thing. I recently had a younger guy who jumps a crossfire say, "yes, I think a bunch of old timers still jump Monarchs." ---Well I otta, Just hold me back, I'll get you you whipper snapper!!!! :::OK, Canopy is Open, No Traffic Around, .. I just went and bought a "dog-bone" from the climbing shop. It is a 10-inch loop of tube nylon, called the super sling. For $3.60 I hope it will keep the ring in the center of the bag. Go get em Lisa!! The short story. Do yourself a favor and start slow. Spend at least 50 jumps with each canopy before you reduce size. Plan on being able to land in the worst area and conditions. Come out to Madera, We'll draw a 25-foot square on the ground and you can jump the canopy on a 115 degree zero wind day.
