Can you verify that a reserve-pack is good?

You might just try and stay with one rigger you trust or talk to some people at a different DZ who know other riggers. The only other thing I might add is to make sure you launch your reserve pilot chute on the ground when you drop your rig off for the next repack. When you go to one rigger and see a few good pilot chute launches from his work, it gives me a greater confidence. Pilot lessons would probably work great. Since the weather is generally crappy this time of year, see if you can spend some dedicated time talking with your jump pilots. We also have two dogs and one cat. The dogs are 95 lbs and 65 lbs. They are the the nice big, dumb, dog types. The cat is pretty cool, and does come home when you call it. Metal to a fabric loop is a good method, and our student canopies have an extra loop of material. I have a metal link on my kill line and a metal loop on the top of my canopy. To avoid any material being pinched, I added a soft bumper over the french link, just like on a riser. I did see a couple of guys with a bunch of tunnel time do well in the AFFCC. I think most of the time was spent on their RW skills. The AFF jumps will be moving around a lot and that is hard to practice in the tunnel. The bottom end sequence for both Level III and IV are very good practice. If you can hold the closing loop with a finger and pull the cord out before the pin goes in, it is way too loose. I don't know the numbers exactly, but you should have approximately 6-10 pounds of weight on the bridle when the pin is pulled (e.g., picking the bottom of the rig up off the floor). If it is too loose you need to shorten the closing loop. I always replace mine when it is fuzzy or has worn down to about the 90% look. :::OK, Canopy is Open, No Traffic Around, .. Keeping the entire rig clean, dry, and in good condition is a must. Remember to take a couple of extra minutes each month to release a cutaway cable and pull the riser off the harness. Check that the "pull" is not too hard and work the end of the riser back and forth to get rid of the set/bend at the bottom. When you have a hard time pulling the riser off the rig (straight up) or when the bottom of the riser is stretched into a "J" shape it is time for a new set. :::OK, Canopy is Open, No Traffic Around, ..
