It was very nice WS-weekend! All time pefect weather conditions, cloudless and +25. Thank you, Jarno&Lutz for fine load organising, flybys and CRW I flew my V3 at first time with incredible forward speed, in average at 220 kmh with peak at 279 kmh! Nice feeling of laminar flow on the wing surface -
The forward speed of a wingsuit-flyer at exit is not so high in comparison to the aircraft. Check the fotos below.

1) on the image "IMG_1066" you can see typical aerodynamics problem - break-off of the flow on the suction side of an airfoil. 2) on the image "Flow visualisation" you can see investigations in an aerodynamics laboratory. The lift on the upper figure (laminar flow) is about factor 2 more in comparison to lower figure (turbulent flow).

Extension to my previous post: if you will post video and photo material from German DZs in internet, just check the space between jumpers and clouds. Cool videos/photos of flybys on clouds edge can be under the circumstances big problem for german skydivers. Authority checks time-to-time youtube content

Dear wingsuit community, My experience for wingsuit flying in Germany show that this sport is in Germany illegal! Rush development of the wingsuit technique in the last years bring the wingsuit pilots in Germany to the boundary of the German air laws for skydiving. Air authority is lazy and live in the old times and can’t accept wingsuit flying like different one when normal free fall (with quasi zero forward movement). The limitations are for example: - DZ area of 2 NM - Time between last drop (exit of last jumper from aircraft) and coming with canopy less than 800 meters must be max. 2 minutes. If you break these rules, you can lose much money and in worst case a skydiver license. Hypothetical, every wingsuit pilot jump in Germany illegal and can get any time the problems with authority! What is the situation with wingsuit flying in other countries?

Believe me, the V3 is not a wingsuit for flocks and formations. If you will fly this rocket in flocks, adjust you for permanent bracking It cost in V3 amazing discomfort during the flight. More easier if you push your Phantom forward - this wingsuit is designed for flocks! I love to fly it in the formations.

Ok, Jarno, you can show us, how you can fly your wingsuit with 200 kmh forward and 100 kmh sinking speed (according preivious message 1/2)

BM Classic is good wingsuit for beginners, with appropriate flight qualities. Just for start. Generally for state-of-the-art wingsuit-flying, you must split between solo jumps and flocks: For solo jumps: If you fly for the maximum time (minimal vertical speed), the actually vertical speed for top pilots is about 40-50 kmh. If you fly for distance, the sinking speed is more, about 70-100 kmh. For flocks: dependent on participant skills and his wingsuits about 90-120 kmh.

Mylar ribs are standard design for V3

So, that why do you need it with BASE? The mylar ribs in the leg wing are for additional stabilization of the wing at high-speed flights (horizontal speed from 200 kmh). A wingsuit with mylar ribs bring in this case 5-10% more efficiency during the flight. The handling of a wingsuit with mylar ribs need more attention. In skydive environment for example you will have additional problems with the ribs in airplanes because of space limitation during the climb.

Good jump, IslandGuy! But glide ratio is only: Vertical: 22.000 - 3.000 = 19.200 ft (5.852 meter) Horizontal: 7.5 miles (12.063 meter) Glide ratio = 12.063 / 5.852 = 2,06 Try to push your wingsuit in horizontal direction!
