Those that live in Glass houses shouldn't play golf
jclalor replied to jgoose71's topic in Speakers Corner
. Katrina was just a bit different with people dying and all on live TV, while Bush over flew New Orleans at 40,00ft. -
. When did I ever state I was a believer? I am in fact an atheist. I have found the best way to argue with believers is to have a better understanding of the bible than they do. The scholar I mentioned was a Prominent baptist minister who lost his faith, He is now an atheist and one of the leading authorities on the historical new testament. If you are like minded, I highly suggest his books.

That was great footage.

Be I am not sure what you mean that the scriptures come from the "people that killed him" They in fact came from his earliest followers. While there were no origional manuscripts ever found, the changes made were in fact made by early christians trying to promote thier own particular beleifs. While there many different gospels and books written in the first couple of hundred years after the death of Jesus, the vast majority finally settled on the the bible as we know it today (more or less the same bible). I don't see how you can say that the early scriptures came under any editorial control, as they were all coppied one at a time by Christian scribes. There are numerous copies that have been found, coppied over hundreds of years, all over the Mediteranain and for the the most part are the same. One of the best scholars of the new testament is Bart Erhman, who has some great books on the subject. http://www.bartdehrman.com/biography.htm

Scotland: Grandmother jailed over WWII 'family heirloom' pistol
jclalor replied to JohnRich's topic in Speakers Corner
quoting absolute numbers against populations of such disparate sizes like that is exactly why nobody can trust the use of statistics any more. You have no credibility by quoting numbers like that. All you're hoping to do is troll up a pro-gun response, stir up some shit, and jack your post count. If we had a killfile feature to ignore posts from users, this would have earned you a spot in mine. I would hope most here would know the the UK has a much smaller population (65,000,000.) than the us (290,00,000). Why don't you run off and start a new truther post, your over due. when have I ever posted in favor of the truthers? you must have me confused with someone else. Either that or I was right and you're just trolling. First, sorry about the truther comment, I confused you with some one else. I have no need to try and manipulate numbers, they speak for them self. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_firearm-related_death_rate -

Only 42 gun related deaths in the UK last year, Over 10,000 in the US. It seems very obvious, the US needs to relax it's draconian gun laws. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/britain-records-18-fall-in-gun-deaths-1232069.html -

Could you care to explain to me the wisdom of psalm 137:9 "Blessed is the one who grabs your little children and smashes them against a rock."

I watched an interview with her parents before she left, They said that after much prayer, God told them that he would keep her safe, and if any thing did happen to her, then that was his plan for her. What wonderful parents. I really hope she is found safe. http://af.reuters.com/article/worldNews/idAFTRE65A0NV20100611?pageNumber=2&virtualBrandChannel=0

Do you not find it a bit coincidental, that of all the spiritual concepts that you tested, you choose Christianity? Out of all of the many choices you have, you choose the religion that is very likely the one that you were raised with. For lack of a better word, you were indoctrinated with Christianity, and so, like the vast majority of people around the world, you have the same superstitions of your parents.

I had much better luck this morning with e-mail, I think I am all set.

Because when you get down to it, reality is all that we will ever have. Faith has nothing to do with reality. Reality (unlike superstitions) is something that even when you stop beleiving in it, does not go away. There is no difference between religious faith and superstitions, they are the same. Each one thinks that the natural order of the world can be magicaly affected by ones actions.
