Court/Obama Agree: Warrantless Cell Phone Tracking is OK
jclalor replied to Kennedy's topic in Speakers Corner
Probably the same place that your praise for Obama is. -
Glen Beck comes to mind.

It's Bush's fault. I never said that, all I was say it's a bit odd when Petreaus wants support for the troops that the right is mostly silent. Where is Palin? where is Beck? where is Limbaugh? Fucking hypocrite, always blabbing how they and the right support the troops, until it might cost them a few votes. "People like Sarah Palin, Newt Gingrich, and Glenn Beck have made a name for themselves as the leading voices for the conservative movement. Each made known their opposition to the stimulus, health care reform, and most recently the "Ground Zero mosque" project. Each has also professed there undying support for American troops serving overseas, and at times criticized the Obama administration for allegedly not supporting the troops. However, in wake of the recent Koran burning controversy all three conservative leaders, and most Republicans, have not given any input on the issue. For those new to the story, Pastor Terry Jones of the Dove World Outreach Center in Florida is planning a "International Burn a Quran Day" for September 11th. Pastor Jones plans to televise the event and encourages others to follow their example of burning the Koran. Jones claims that Islam is the religion of the devil, and claims he is burning the Koran in remembrance of the victims of 9/11. However, many have accused Jones of simply seeking publicity by taking an extreme viewpoint. In response to the story General David Petreaus, the head of U.S. combat operations in Afghanistan, urged Pastor Jones to not follow through with the event. The Pentagon and White House echoed Gen. Patreaus' sentiments. Gen. Petreaus warned that the Koran burning event could endanger the lives of United States troops by inflaming the emotions of local Afghans. Patreaus even went as far as to suggest the event could help the Taliban recruit in the country, and hurt the larger military mission in the area. Last week hundreds of Afghans protested in Kabul upon simply hearing about the Koran burning rally. Many chanted "Death to America" and some threw stones at American military convoys. Despite Patreaus' warning, Pastor Jones has said he still plans to go ahead with the burning of the Koran. Tonight Keith Olbermann sought input from numerous conservative commentators and Republican leaders. What he got back was simply the sound of silence. Despite their supposed devotion to the troops, conservatives and Republican politicians seem unwillingly to condemn the Koran burning rally despite the danger it represents. Pastor Jones will surely not listen to liberal like Olbermann, but if conservatives line up in a unified front against his rally it may have a more persuasive effect. For example, Pastor Jones has said he respects former President George W. Bush, but no comment has been given by the former president. It seems that Republicans and conservatives are more than willing to comment on controversial subject when their message is anti-Islam, but unwilling to comment when their message may upset some of their most fanatical base voters."

Atheists, being a moderate proportion of the USA population (about 8-16%) are disproportionately less numerous in the prison population (0.21%) Japan (the most atheistic nation in the G-8) has the lowest murder rate while the United States (the most Christian nation in the G-8) has the highest. Japan used to have much stronger religious faith, and a state religion, and guess what: Japan was remarkably aggressive and militaristic when "Shinto" was at its peak, and during WW2, when its Emperor was regarded as a God. Louisiana, with America's highest church attendance rate, has twice the national average murder rate. If atheism causes violence, why are right-wing fundamentalists unable to find a shred of statistical evidence to back that claim up? http://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-121066.0.html

Wednesday, February 24, 2010 - 13:00 in Psychology & Sociology The higher your IQ the more likely you are to exhibit social values and religious and political preferences that are novel to the human species in evolutionary history. Specifically, liberalism and atheism, and for men, preference for sexual exclusivity correlate with higher intelligence, a new study Social Psychology Quarterly finds. The study advances a new theory to explain why people form particular preferences and values. The theory suggests that more intelligent people are more likely than less intelligent people to adopt evolutionarily novel preferences and values, but intelligence does not correlate with preferences and values that are old enough to have been shaped by evolution over millions of years." read more

Wow, General Petraeus ask that the burning should be discouraged to help protect the lives of American soldiers and the Republican leadership is silent on his comments? Even GWB had a "No comment" So much for supporting the troops.

Insurance death panel gives thumbs down to five year old boy
jclalor replied to jclalor's topic in Speakers Corner
That it's going to happen under Obamacare, as well, and very possibly more often. Oh, then you did say that Obama wants to deny medical care to children. -
When I am ask what religion I belong too, I just smile and say " Oh, i'm not superstitious" Most people start to reply they are not talking about superstitions but then catch themselves and realize their is no difference.

Where did I say that? You said........ Ask Obama's health czar. Quote "Dr. Emanuel makes a clear choice: "When implemented, the complete lives system produces a priority curve on which individuals aged roughly 15 and 40 years get the most substantial chance, whereas the youngest and oldest people get changes that are attenuated" What then were you suggesting? -

And Once again you are taking this out of context. "In the Lancet, Jan. 31, 2009, Dr. Emanuel and co-authors presented a "complete lives system" for the allocation of very scarce resources, such as kidneys, vaccines, dialysis machines, intensive care beds, and others. "One maximizing strategy involves saving the most individual lives, and it has motivated policies on allocation of influenza vaccines and responses to bioterrorism. . . . Other things being equal, we should always save five lives rather than one." So just give me a straight answer, you believe Obama wants to deny medical care to children, or at least non-Muslim children. -

And the original post blamed it on conservatives - you liberals are still the champions. Can you please show where I placed blame on the right? "A five year old boy has died after an insurance company death panel refused to provide him with the treatment his Doctors recommended. Where is the outrage from the right?" -

Obama now wants to deny medical care to kids? you people crack me up. The nonpartisan Politifact.com Web site described McCaughey's claim as a "ridiculous falsehood."[34][37][38][39] FactCheck.org said, "We agree that Emanuel’s meaning is being twisted. In one article, he was talking about a philosophical trend, and in another, he was writing about how to make the most ethical choices when forced to choose which patients get organ transplants or vaccines when supplies are limited."[40][41] An article on Time.com said that Emanuel "was only addressing extreme cases like organ donation, where there is an absolute scarcity of resources ... 'My quotes were just being taken out of context.'"[7] A decade ago, when many doctors wanted to legalize euthanasia or physician-assisted suicide, Emanuel opposed it.[4] Emanuel said the "death panel" idea is "an outright lie, a complete fabrication. And the paradox, the hypocrisy, the contradiction is that many of the people who are attacking me now supported living wills and consultations with doctors about end-of-life care, before they became against it for political reasons." "I worked pretty hard and against the odds to improve end-of-life care. And so to have that record and that work completely perverted — it's pretty shocking."[42] -
It probably will not succeed in our lifetime, but when you look at how much progress has been made in the last hundred years of ridding people of their superstitions, the time will come.

Do you mean lies from a sitting presidents like this: 1) The Iraq War won’t cost a lot of money 2) We are prepared for every contingency 3) We won’t need a lot of troops 4) We will bring peace and freedom to Iraq 5) We will find WMDs 6) We will be welcomed as liberators 7) We have the best plan available for victory 8) The Iraq War will transform the Middle East 9) It will be easy 10) It won’t take long

“Despite its contentious history, most American voters appear to have made a positive judgment about the country’s efforts in Iraq. Almost six in 10 (58 percent) voters think, overall, the United States ‘did the right thing’ by going to war, according to the latest Fox News poll.*** From a CBS poll last month: (Credit: CBS) CBS News Poll analysis by the CBS News Polling Unit: Sarah Dutton, Jennifer De Pinto, Fred Backus and Anthony Salvanto. "With combat operations in Iraq coming to an end, most Americans believe the war is going well for the United States, a new CBS News survey finds. But nearly six in ten say it was a mistake to start the battle in the first place, and most say their country did not accomplish its objectives in Iraq." Did you just state that the data shows the majority of Americans thought the war was worth it? And of course the majority now say the war is going well, it is because we are getting our fucking ass out of there.

*** I think those are pretty petty issues, if industry did not have to abide by these stupid rules and regulations, just think of the jobs that could be created. Government regulations can only hurt the job market. These workers today are spoiled and overpaid, they even created a holiday for them, go figure.

*** Cite, please. http://www.rightpundits.com/?p=3732 See point #3. 3) Returning military veterans may resort to domestic terrorism. Right wingers may “recruit” combat veterans “to boost their violent capabilities.” Point 3 says nothing about "all" former military being potential terrorist.

That is how ORGANIZED religion started. Spirituality. which preceded organized religion by thousands of years (and is what I like to call organic religion) started with respect for the memories of the dead. It went like this: Respect for living elders Respect for the ideas of the elders after they passed Honoring past elders in ceremony Worship of past elders Bestowing powers on past elders. This is where the oogie-boogie kicks in; and of course once magic and mysticism become an answer to whatever you don't know - the sky is the limit on manipulating people and the corruption that follows. I don't think anyone knows how a belief in god(s) came about, most likely it came from not understanding the natural world. The more we understand science, the less we need to believe that a supreme power is responsible for events that we do not understand.

*** ____________________________________ Glenn Beck draws 300-400 thousand people to a peaceful non political rally and the progressives look for anything to make this look bad...got it.. He thought he was so clever trying to fly in under the radar with all the religion and honesty bullshit. The man has a definate messianic complex. Only a fool would think it was "non political" event. I had a fun time trying to spot the blacks in the crowd (not the invited performers) I think blacks make up about 10% of the US population and I would bet there was less than 1% in the crowd, although Faux news kept zooming in on the few who were there.

That about sums it up.
