Shirley Sherrod shafted by the Right (and Left)
jclalor replied to jclalor's topic in Speakers Corner
This was at an NAACP event not the NCAA. In any event this thread is about Sherrod and how people like still continue not to be able to understand what happened in context. The audience was not involved. -
Shirley Sherrod shafted by the Right (and Left)

I also think that all of the members of the NCAA that were in the room applauding the racism before she got to the "and then I learned a lesson" part of the speech are defiantly racists. I am pretty sure this was at a non-athletic event. -

Th right started it and then The White House jumped the gun. I guess she was equally screwed by both. -
Remember, it is the Republican Party who cares about the people.
jclalor replied to Lucky...'s topic in Speakers Corner
*** The Republicans all think they should be extented, they just wanted them funded with out adding to the debt. Then again the right said that American unemployed are lazy and would not look for work until the benifits ran out. I would like to see some unemployed Republicans volunteer to have their benifits stopped. -
Shirley Sherrod shafted by the Right (and Left)
jclalor replied to jclalor's topic in Speakers Corner
*** I caught a few minutes of the Glenn Beck TV last night. His position was that the blogger who started the mess posted video of her speech out of context. Then the BHO administration demanded her resignation without investigation. According to Sherrod, the White House called her on her cell phone while she was driving and wanted her to pull to the side of the road and resign, right there and then. The White House should hire her back asap. Did Beck admitt he was wrong for not investigating the story also? -
Shirley Sherrod shafted by the Right (and Left)
jclalor replied to jclalor's topic in Speakers Corner
I guess you don't read much current news. Sharrod was taken complety out of context. She was telling the story of how she at first did not want to help the farmer due to his race but then realized that it was not about race but economic level. she then found this farmer a lawyer and had his farm saved. watch the whole tape. Her father was murderd by the KkK when she was a child and this caused her not to be to fond of whites ( understandable) until she realized it was about class and not race. The White House should hire her back asap. Even the wingnuts at fox admitted she was not a racist. -
Shirley Sherrod shafted by the Right (and Left)

Will the White house retract it's statements and give her back her job? I loved Rove's comments on fox after he admitted that she was not a racist. He stated that while she may not be a racist, she is stll a bad person for inciting class warfare. Sherrod had stated that she should help people regardless of their skin color but should instead try to help the poor with their struggles against the rich. http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-20011138-503544.html -
Just forced to resign. Maybe not even that, he probably laid his resignation on Obamas table, pleased to do it. And I don't think ANY of his troops think of the General as "disgraced"............ *** The one event that will define his career is missing from his resume? Yet Obama's citizenship is questioned?*** I give up trying to fix this on an I-phone I must not have been clear, I'm with you on this one. I must not have been clear, I'm with you on this. You guys crack me up. No, you guys crack me up. Won't wear a flag pin on teh lapel, beating this birther issue to death, semantic inanity vs the Republican throwing us into debt and hammering most aspects of the economy and all you can still clammer is birther BS? Anyone care that a general broke rank and verbally assaulted the CIC? I bet if a junior officer/enlistee looked cross-eyed at the good general he would have their ass, yet he feels insubbordination is ok. Can you guys be more hypocritical? You don't have to like the guy wearing the rank who is above you but you MUST respect the uniform and rank attached WITHOUT QUESTION. Start abiding by your own rules w/o selectively deciding which to administer and which to avoid.

The Generals bio was missing one little detail..... He insulted his superior and was forced to resign in disgrace.

. I was born in 1962 and my hospital birth certificate was good enough for the Navy also.

If all scripture is inspired by god, how do you account for all the the different accounts of Christ life that cannot be reconciled? Just for starters, the birth narratives of Mathew and Luke tell two very different stories on the birth of Christ. Was Joseph and Mary already living in Bethlehem ? both gospels differ on this. Why would it matter that Joseph's linage could be traced back to David when Joseph was not the father? Is it three wise men or three shepards? My personal favorite is did they flee to Egypt or stay and have all of the Jewish customs for the first born male performed? If you buy the one that they fled to Egypt and only came back after Herod died and was replaced by his son. Don't you think the son would remember something about his Dad killing tens of thousand of first born male babies? Why are Luke and Mathew so different just on the birth of Jesus alone? ...

Yes, that is something you should think about. Since insulting anothers beliefs is what you are choosing to do today I think if you wanna post feel good religous stuff then go ahead and post it in bonfire. If you post stuff like that here, you might not wanna be too surprised if some one has a different opinion.

*** I stand corrected.

The dangers of quoting from the BibleShare Monday, June 28, 2010 at 12:29pm In her radio show, Dr Laura Schlesinger said that, as an observant Orthodox Jew, homosexuality is an abomination according to Leviticus 18:22, and cannot be condoned under any circumstance. The following response is an open letter to Dr. Laura, penned by a US resident, which was posted on the Internet. It's funny, as well as informative: Dear Dr. Laura: Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's Law. I have learned a great deal from your show, and try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination ... End of debate. I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some other elements of God's Laws and how to follow them. 1. Leviticus 25:44 states that I may possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians? 2. I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her? 3. I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of Menstrual uncleanliness - Lev.15: 19-24. The problem is how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense. 4. When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord - Lev.1:9. The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them? 5. I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself, or should I ask the police to do it? 6. A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination, Lev. 11:10, it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this? Are there 'degrees' of abomination? 7. Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle-room here? 8. Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev. 19:27. How should they die? 9. I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves? 10. My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev.19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? Lev.24:10-16. Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair, like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14) I know you have studied these things extensively and thus enjoy considerable expertise in such matters, so I'm confident you can help. Thank you again for reminding us that God's word is eternal and unchanging. Your adoring fan, James M. Kauffman, Ed.D. Professor Emeritus, Dept. Of Curriculum, Instruction, and Special Education University of Virginia (It would be a damn shame if we couldn't own a Canadian :)

I think Israel is going to strike first, the fact they have permission to use and have already trained in Saudi air space is amazing. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/37653040/ns/world_news-mideastn_africa/

Why am I still uncomfortable sitting by the door?
jclalor replied to npgraphicdesign's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
From what I have observed, it happens quite often. I see the plane take off with several people on board but when it returns only the pilot is on board. That's funny, you have some profound insight and incredible wit. -
I guess the rest of the world is wrong.

Why is it that the same group of people that claims you can not trust the government for anything, all of a sudden trust them when it comes to executing someone? Very strange.

Why am I still uncomfortable sitting by the door?
jclalor replied to npgraphicdesign's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Has anyone ever heard of some one falling out of an open door? I was sitting next to the open door in a PAC a few weeks back, when a friend next to me grabbed my shoulders and gave me a push, he never let go of me but it was a very strange feeling for a split second. -

Seemed like a good idea at the time. With what we know now on the amount of US and Japanese lives saved, it seems even better.

When did I ever state I was a believer? I am in fact an atheist. I have found the best way to argue with believers is to have a better understanding of the bible than they do. The scholar I mentioned was a Prominent baptist minister who lost his faith, He is now an atheist and one of the leading authorities on the historical new testament. If you are like minded, I highly suggest his books. Perhaps it's worth a read. My point here is that the Tanakh consists of Bronze Age tribal lore, and was not prepared for general consumption. Most Rabbis worth their salt will roll their eyes if you attempt to get literal with the contents of Bereshit (Genesis), and will note that its value has little to do with its accuracy per se. "We have 5770 years since Creation, based on the ages of the Patriarchs. How did Adam know quite when he came to be, along with the accurate count the days/years thereafter and the understanding of the significance of this measure?" "Don't sweat it bubbie, it's tradition." In a Christian church, you might as well have a big neon sign on the wall that says "BELIEVE!" A Synagogue could do well with a sign that says "Think." +1
