Here's my Idea for you, go find you the oldest scary ass looking airworthy rig with all the death metal cutway shit on it, best if it's a wart and not a piggy back, stap that shit on and go on up to 13k and jump that shit, I bet you will feel just like you did on your first jump. Worked for me when I was not having fun any more (burn out) and I rediscovered the thrill of jumping rounds again. I do it a few times a year just cuz I can and it put's the fear in me every time( the good kind that makes you feel alive) but it is a blast, and a lot of other guy's and gal's have been getting their's out to play with too, we have done some nice 6, 8 & 10 ways, riding the plane up you would think it is full of first jump students. So if you don't find it fun and "normal sport" jumps fun. Well might want/need to just take a rest from skydiving, hell I had a few years where I maybe did 25 jumps if that, I like to do other things in life too. Try it you might like it Photo's by Chad Robbins and Ryan Kramer ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

That's right, my guess was they had nothing to hide by posting it in public and if they didn't want anyone to talk about it or cut and paste it, it shouldn't have been posted for everone in the world to see there face. I am a mexican in disguise, and illegal to, but hey I'm only over here doing a job the gringos don't want to do, skydiving instructor and photo cut and paster. ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

We have a winner! But I bet they wouldn't condone it and if it was a strong rig and they could do something there would be one less TM rating holder.

WOW! Responses to BOD notes posting
stratostar replied to MikeTJumps's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Again, if there is a groundswelling of opinion that makes itself known, the BOD will see it. (quote) Yea right, maybe if the groundswelling is coming from a bunch of DZO's or a member of the good old boy network. Seems to me they could care less about the individual member other then getting their dues. Many of us are tired of wasting our time dealing with it, I have better things to do wih my time like talking with a brick wall. The only reason I have a membership is cuz I have to in order to jump. And spare me the usual non GM dz crap if you want to jump. That's just my point of view, like it or not. ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -

Those aren’t stealth canopies out there you can see them from a way away. (quote) Yea but even a bright color can blend in and become a stealth. you may not always see it, even when it is right there. ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -

I don't know any of them but if it was done in the USA that TM should have his rating yanked for good! It is kind of shit that soooooo many newer young ones today think this kind shit is cool and condone it . jez 3 d on a tandem what next. (quote) Well I have already seen a naked headdown tandem drougeless come to think of it, it was the same TM I was thinking of when I posted the poll that did it. ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

I'm leaning that way too, nice post dude. I'm waiting to see what the offical word is from HQ and read the new rules before I make my mind up and say one way or the other, because I want to fully understand what was said and what the new play ground rules are. I not really trying to knock anything, just talking about someone that was my student and after seeing him fly I don't think he has all the skills he may need to be fair to the person he is working with, 1. flying skills 2.able to see what is right and wrong and be able to debrief it. In this case it is #2 that I think he needs the most work on. I do agree that if they can coach in the S/L or IAD then why not the AFF as someone posted. However the person I refer to, I wouldn't turn loose on a AFF student he don't the flying skills to do it, and that got me thinking about it after reading Kip's post. Should we turn this guy loose with freefall students at his skill level ?(their still students to me till they have an "A" IMO") As for 1, 2 & 3 I would say could be all, I haven't made my mind up on #1, but #2 who gave the course? some CD's I have met sucked ass while others were very demanding about knowing the info and having skills, if you didn't, you didn't pass. people view it as a "rubber stamp" credential ... go through the motions, pay your fee to USPA, and get the rating. (quote) I can understand why, I have known people who have signed off rating paperwork in exchange for a check. ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Hi Ron, it is pretty funny that we are giving low jump number coaches more resopnsiblities, but not giving them the education.(quote) One of my students did his 1-110 jumps just this season and got his coach rating right at the end of the season and now it's winter so you know he has not been jumping or at the dz, just because he got the rating, don't make him a coach yet he needs more education for sure, he is a good jumper and learns well and some day will make a good inst. however at this time he has very little skills in reading a persons body and I don't think the flying skills are where they need to be in order to turn him loose with freefall students, he is still learning to fly himself. He has a lot more to learn to IMHO on how to work/read a student. So I'm not to sure about "low jump number coaches" just being turned loose with others also learning to fly, I guess on the other hand as least they will be learning to fly together. ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

What makes an experienced skydiver?
stratostar replied to droquette's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
With all do respect, did you ever stop to think for a minute that the people your bashing for falling down, if they have any real time in this sport 15 to 25 years or more, were jumping long before you were shit'n yellow. Try walking a mile in their shoes and go make you 500 to a 1000 jumps on all rounds and squares from the late 70's and early 80 and let's see how well you hold up from the abuse. I'll put up my 70 year old friend who has been jumping for 50 years stright and has well over 6000 jumps aginst you any day of the week, he pounds in every landing in the peas, get's up dusts him self off and dose it again and again all day and nails the dead center every time and makes 10 or more jumps a day, he out works, out fly's just about everyone on the dz. It's guy's like him that made this sport what it is today, so you can enjoy your tippy toe landings and talk about how great you are for doing so, try showing a little more respect for your elders there sonny, they paved the way to get us here today and you don't seem to have a clue as to just how good you have it in todays sport! Who give's a rat's ass if someone falls down or drops to a knee or touches a hand down, I'll bet everyone at the JFTC record your talking about picked them selfs up had a good chuckel about it and then skydived their ass off. You might try falling down a little more you might learn something..... ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -
Seriously, though - there have been people on here that have been messed with (to the point of being fired) due to their profile info - I don't blame anyone for not having a full profile filled out, under the circumstances. (quote) As soon as philykev posted his last post we saw a lot of profiles change for that reason. And because of actions like what happened to him, this is why I have never put any real info in my profile other then my years in the sport and ratings and maybe the state I reside in. I have been attacked myself at my place of employment due to a post as well as my other half. And because people think "I'll show them" and try to get someone fired I can't see taking the risk again to put that info out there, I wish it wasn't that way but their are some fucked up people in the world. ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

So far this has been a good excange of Ideas and different points of views, I would like to thank everyone who has put in their 2 cents, and voted. I know not everyone here agrees with my point of view on this issue. (and many others) I didn't expect that everyone would agree! I just wanted to hear what everyone thought about this, it has been a interesting topic to discuss. Again THANK YOU ALL for your input.

I don't think it is as bad due to the fact that your not swinging out from under the canopy like on a hook. Some are saying if the winds for the day call for it, I think it might be a good idea not to be jump in those winds if it's that bad. ie if your backing up, it's to windy. But I do know dzo's who pressure TM's to go cuz they want the money. ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Very well put I'm glad some one see's the point I was trying to make. Please go ahead and vote, your view counts as well. Its unacceptable to hook a tandem- you risk more than your own life, and thats that. Just like its unacceptable to hook in a packed pattern, there too, you risk more than your own life. You can't gamble what isnt yours, bottom line, dont gamble someone else's life. (quote) Just picture your mom and dad standing in the viewing area for your first jump. (tandem) Now were in a court room and you mom is telling the jury about how every thing was just fine till the last few feet when "the guy in control for no reason did a crazy sharp turn real low to the ground, I don't understand why" And now their offspring is dead or broken all over or in a wheelchair the rest of there life. Hey if you got no regard for your student and the money to defend your self in court, go ahead and keep doing it. There are more people around who feel the same as me, even if they don't post here. ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
