Responding to "Swooping is not a crime"
stratostar replied to pop's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I have read your post and you right I don't agree with you. I will support a total ban on swooping as well as a ban on any turn over 90 degrees, if that is what the DZO would like to do to..........Why? because it is their playground and they forked out the money to build it and run it, they can make any rules they want, they have that right to do so. I also don't agree with you that swooping is bringing mass interest to the sport and new jumpers. In fact I agree with those who speak of students and their family and friends who gringe and say "we're not going to land like that are we?" Seen it many many times with clients, it is more of a turn off then a turn on with 75% or more of first time jumpers! Back to your regular programing..... you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -

And that is their right as DZO's to ban it or not to ban it. If I owned a DZ and wanted to make a blanket rule there is NO hook turns, swooping of people , buildings, airplanes, or grass LZ, that would be my right to do that. If you as jumper didn't like it it is your right to hit the road and go some place else. My guess is there wil be more who chose to stay and jump at a safe dz then those who will get pissed off a leave to the free for all dz's. So Art how many jumpers have you lost now that you have made your new rules??? I bet not many! you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -

standing in landing areas
stratostar replied to raymond_jones's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Even though I was being a smartass to Raymond, the one thing I haven't seen anyone say or think of yet is....Maybe the 100 ways were not only dirt diving the skydive and break off but the landing as well and this is why they were in the LZ, as well as the fact that there was the needed room for them to DD. If anyone don't understand all that, then go the next 100 way event as see for yourself what all is involved with a skydive of that size, it is a hell of a plan and takes everyone to be on the same page, if they want to DD in the LZ, let um do it and land else where or sit on the porch and just watch. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -

stratostar replied to raymond_jones's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
So was I.... As I told you before I agree they should have told you, but still it is a easy place to find open ground to land in and remain safe to you as long as you don't step on a rattle snake or punch a cactus. But landing in the parking lot is good pratice, you never know when you might need too one day. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -
Well thats good, at least there will one person I know. Sorry to hear you won't be there Spence, enjoy the mountains. With all the locals and my host being out of town, I guess it is a good reason to return. standing in landing areas
stratostar replied to raymond_jones's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
That maybe true, but last time I looked it was still a bigass wide open desert with plenty of outs to be had if one were to start looking after deployment! Go land in the parking lot, it's good pratice, or swoop the shit out of um and go hay WTF are you assholes doing in the LZ DDing, or tee off. Still not as big of a deal as you make it out to be! you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -
LOL, he said his folks are going to be in town then and he won't be there, and he was the one who invited me. Ok,

Well how the hell do we know you just didn't have your head up your ass and miss the anouncement over the PA or maybe they had already done 2 DD's that day and the manifest thought it was already clear to everyone what the hell was going on. Maybe manifest wasn't told by head asshat they were going to do that and there for you wern't warned. Maybe if you can't handle the surprises that can and do happen under canopy you should think about finding another sport or maybe better, stay at a small 182 dz so you won't have to find 100 asshats in the LZ DDing. It is really not any diff then landing out cuz the spot sucked, like you said shit happends now quit your crying already and shut up and go jump or tee off! you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -
Steve, it's all good, I too have jumped on some others shit about stuff only to reread later the post and see I totally misunderstood what was posted and stuck my foot in mouth. Hey it happens and i guess it may have to do with the old age thing, I just had to get glasses and now I can read better, but understanding it is another subject altogether....LOL you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

While I can understand your points, I think your blowing it into a much bigger issue then is needed. While at Perris a week and a half ago they were doing 100 ways and DDing in the LZ, it was broadcast across the dz via the PA so unless your Billy Vance it would be kinda hard to not know, and even if your on the plane, I don't see what is so hard about looking down and seeing 100 asshats DDing in the LZ and finding another place to set down??? Like I said not that big of a deal and besides that it is good pratice for ya, cuz as you said yourself SHIT HAPPENS! you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -
Who all will be at skydive the farm's 139.00 boogie next week june 8-10? I'm looking forward to the road trip. Anyone.......

One person accused me of slandering his name for stating a few facts. *** That is NOT how I read the post she made to you. I think your blowing it way out, I took it to read the two guys selling a book claiming Ted was DB. But you read it your way if that is what makes you happy, I will admit Jo has turned me off from the case with her talking in circles and hinting to shit ONLY she would know anything about, cuz most of those really old farts are now DEAD and not reading her crap here on DZ.com. She would be doing her self a better service to just lay it all out, before she kicks the bucket. But I don't think she was calling you that. reread it. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

These two photos show what I was trying to say in the earlier post, the higher up or lower you go the farther back you must be! And seeing how Mr. Sean Crossman was talked about by so many posters, I used a still image taken just weeks before he was killed. Funny maybe if I would had blown this up and hung it up in the video room he might still be here, but no I don't think that would have worked to tell the truth, after all it was/has just been us old farts picking on the "punk ass know it all kids" and has nothing to do with safety. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -

WE don't know him, he's just some bum who wondered in off the street muttering something about spare change and a jumpsuit....... Oh yea you might want to ask Laslo A.(sp) about the light weight stills they all use in the hills for tdms, but I think it is 35mm film not digital. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -

If using your eyes was the best way, we wouldnt use altimeters now would we? If your eyes were the best bet we wouldnt use audibles to back up the visual altimeters would we? During my visit to your play ground I had no problem finding my cues to make your LZ on jump one and I even forgot my wrist mount and I use no other alti, other then my eyes. Not trying startng a pissing contest with you hippy, but not everyone need those "tools" to fly a left hand pattern or swoop the gates. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -

I would if I saw the videos of them doing it, I don' t care who you are, if your playing inside the cones of death, your in the wrong, period. Play around all ya want to as long as the TM is ok with it and you stay out of the no fly zone/cones! FAI- the cone of death shaped like an hour glass above and below a tandem. i.e. the skinny part where the sand pass thru is the TDM. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
