So get "married" without the government. I'm pretty sure that we are free to perform whatever rituals we want to (without harming others) without the government's consent. If you don't want the legal part of it, don't take it. I will take the benefit I get and would be stupid not to take it. That is not my point and my bad on the statement I made I did say "I believe". Concur. Both wrong. Differently wrong. W/r/t this incident, however, there is nothing that suggests that the teacher was making sexual advances toward a student. "Georgia teacher Randolphe Forde accused of putting a 'hit' on his student" "A Clayton County Police report says that Forde pulled a student off a school bus on October 9 and told him he 'would pay him to kill the victim.' Forde then wrote the 16-year-old victim-to-be's name on a piece of paper ... "... the two [teacher & student] also argued in class on or around Sept. 30, and Forde threatened to 'hit him in his 'effin mouth.'" The local school board made the firing decision that was reported in the AJC article I quoted previously. I think there are restrictions because of "conflict of interest" in regards to recruiting. Kind of like leaving one sales job and taking clients to the next company. There may be no restrictions before March 3rd but at the same time its kind of dirty but I think that is what he is.... dirty. +1 to me my upcoming marriage has nothing to do with what the govt. is recognizing. It is a commitment I am making to my fiancee and her son in front of those I care about and God. I wish they were out of it totally then if you are gay make what commitment you want and call it whatever you want. The only thing the govt. gives you is a tax benefit and a fee to get married. Right now I believe homosexuals get the same benefit minus the fee to be married. I think the govt should stay out of it and should never even have to define what marriage is to begin with. More than half the people that get married don't even realize what it really means and there are probably many homosexuals out there that have more of a marriage than many hetero married couples. It would still be wrong, and the teacher should be fired. The crminal case regarding the 'hit' will be heard in court and presumably the teacher will get a fair trial. The school board should terminate this teacher regardless of the context (or intended use of the word 'hit') for even questioning the student's sexuality in front of the class. Agreed but the difference in "putting a hit on someone" and having someone "hit on" that person is very different. Killing vs not killing I'd say is a big difference. I can look at myself and reverse engineer the factors that lead me to love: Okay. Narrowing my possibilities to the US, there are roughly 310 million people. Between the 1ges of 15-64 there areabout 100 million women. This means that my preferred age group (40) probably has about 1 million. So, from the base pool of 100 million, I look for the following: Unmarried: I figure roughly 60% of women in this group are married. I'm down to a pool of 400k now. Middle-upper middle class: roughly 25% of population. (100k to choose from) Hetero: (95k now) Doctoral level education (2 percent) - I'm at about 1900 women in the entire US that I'd dig. Smokin' Hot - 10 percent (I'm down to 190 now) Skydives - I think I'm down to one person in the whole country. and I'm a dude..... You dumb-ass! When getting ready to plan out a wedding date, ALWAYS discreetly check the sports schedule in advance, THEN discuss with the SO, but NEVER slip in WHY that date won't work. Hell, who am I kidding? I got married on the 2nd biggest date of the Alabama football season in 2000 - the Alabama - Tennessee game. But hey, it worked out anyway. I didn't want to see Alabama lose. That year was one of our worst in history, I think we went 3-8. Oh I remember that year . I just got a hook up for that date with full open bar and I mean FULL for free. I bet it would. Preseason rankings mean nothing as far as Saban is concerned. All it means is that Alabama will be under pressure from the beginning. Who was the last team to go wire-to-wire? Easier said than done. Alabama returns the bulk of their offense, but loses 2/3rds of their starters on defense. Then again, all they have to do is reload, thanks to #1 recruiting classes the last two years and a possible 3rd straight #1 class coming up if Alabama can close strong on signing day. And believe me, Alabama is loaded at almost every position nowadays. We'll see where everything shakes down as the season goes along. Alabama has to play Penn State early in the 2010 season, so I will be interested in how Ohio State fares against the Nittany Lions in comparison. We gots to play the U also and they should be pretty tough next year. That game is actually on my wedding day. Ok so honest question. I don't care if you like him or don't like him. I don't want to hear he is the messiah or the devil...... what I want to know is..... what do you think about Obama saying over and over again that he is all about healthcare for the people and that it should be hammered out with input from all parties and of course that he would make sure it was on CSPAN for the rest of the country to see.
