What's up old guys? O M F G, just got home from seeing the midnight showing of Avatar IMAX 3D. It was fucking epic. FU-CKING EPIC!

OMG! OMG! OMG! It was epic. I was almost hoping to hate it because of how hyped it was but I just couldn't. I had to love it. The story was so so but it worked. The only complaints I had were minor technical ones with the 3D which is in no way the filmmakers fault. It completely cemented my decision to go to school for visual effects and 3D animation. P.S. If you have the option of seeing it in IMAX 3D, do it, it is worth the extra cheddar. I just don't see how a standard screen could pull you in as much as the massive IMAX. Edit: After taking time to actually read what the question was I'll add that the only way it seemed video gameish to me is in the concept area. I was convinced the visuals were going to be too video gamish and were going to distract from getting pulled into the story. I was absolutely wrong. If you are willing to forget about how video game like the concept is and believe in the characters you are presented with you will get pulled into the story and enjoy the movie. Just my .02. I may have to edit this after I find a better way to explain the point I'm trying to convey.

Thank you for the info, sir. All the stuff I was coming up with from google was about the advantages of de-interlacing rather than a comparing it to stuff shot in progressive. I'll have to look a little harder. Thanks again.

As I understand it de-interlacing is the process of converting interlaced video to progressive video. What I am curious about is whether de-interlaced video is the same quality as video that is shot with a camcorder that has progressive shooting mode? P.S not that it matters but this isn't directly related to skydiving.

Sounds like a solid computer. Which i7 and which mobo did you use? I am planning to upgrade an old computer with a new mobo, cpu, ram and video card. I'm debating whether to get an i7 or hold out for the i9. I know most people would say just get the i7 but early reports put the 3D animation and video editing benchmarks for the i9 at up to 50% faster than the i7. Since 3D and compositing will be 85% of what I will use the computer for it may be worth waiting. Before the i9 announcement the plan was: EVGA X58 Classified (rumored to support i9 processors with a bios update) i7 920 4GB DDR3 module x2 Nvidia Quadro FX1800 now I'm thinking same setup except substitute an i9 for an i7.
