  2. eh, i don't like it as much as pain pills... anyone wanna go to FL?
  3. @mrwrong: or get a mac. built in conversion in the widgets. @bry: i dont even know how to respond to that. P.S. You guys seem so happy to have anyone to talk to besides each other you are overloading me and making me have to respond to both of you at the same time.
  4. I was under the impression you guys got a lot. I thought there were issues with getting the stadium ready for the Eagles game because there was so much snow.
  5. You just gave me an idea. I wanna make a documentary on the DZ.com community. Now, if someone could just lend me $8K to buy a camera setup it would be much appreciated.
  6. Yeah but at least I'm young. Honestly I don't know why i read the mindless dribble you 2 call conversation. Maybe to improve at becoming the 3rd grumpy contributor?
  7. cold and snowy. And about to get worse. The midwest is supposed to get something like what the east coast got over the weekend. It might not be quite as bad but it's still supposed to be 3 days of ice, snow and rain.
  8. Fuckin' grouchy old bastards! New rule you only get to post once every 10 mins. I'm not reading 2 fucking pages when I wake up anymore.
  9. If anyone was curious as I was, there are 967 names for visual effects credits. That doesn't include any of the concept artists. Source: IMDB
  10. I wouldn't buy either position for only a week. I doubt there will be more than a 10% change for either. IMAX is not a short position, it's a long position. That is of course unless a bunch of idiots that don't know how to do research on how a company makes its money start buying it up. It appears IMAX makes most of its money from selling large format systems. Part of the business is post. To get any kind of good return you would need to have a lot more theaters putting in an IMAX screen. I doubt many theaters will be doing that in the near future with the market the way it is. You may get a little boost from income from their post business. Disclaimer: This is based on only 5 mins worth of research. Edit: However should Pace or 21st Century 3D go public bet your ass I'll buy some of that stock.
  11. I guess I'm having trouble finding the correct wording for how I feel about it, but it basically boils down to one thing. I personally don't feel that 3D would add all that much to most genres of movies. "Avatar" was perfect for 3D, "The Hobbit" will also be perfect for 3D in my opinion because they are taking a world that doesn't exist and placing you in it to help you feel like you are there, and by extension, are making it more believable, much like "Avatar". I can't speak for most people but I personally could give 2 shits about being immersed in a romantic comedy. I'm sure there are some people out there who feel the same. Just my $.02.
  12. ...yeah, if you're a pansy ass. Just messing with you. After the first week it's easy peasy. I just quit smoking 2 weeks ago this monday.
  13. I'm not referring to TV and movies. I'm referring to the 3D. Hopefully it wont get to that. Hopefully it will die out again after a few years like it's done the last 2 times it started to become popular.
  14. I don't know much about the movie or television industries but I'm worried about all this 3D talk. IMO, right now 3D is a strong tool in the filmmakers toolbox to pull you into the story and make it that much stronger. If they start making every movie or TV show in 3D it's just going to become the next played out technology.
  15. It's got higher quality images, better sound and it'll be in 3D. Since this film is all about the visual effects, that stuff matters a lot - I don't care how good your TV is, I don't believe you'll be able to get near to the full 'wow' factor of the visuals unless you see it in the cinema. Plus, it's bigger! Not necessarily. It depends if your theater is equipped for it. There is a version that is not in 3D. My theater has that one in addition to the other 2 versions.
  16. Do you know where you heard about the Avatar camera setup specifically? Looking online all I can find is info about stereoscopic technology in general. I may have to wait for the blu-ray to come out so I can watch the BTS. I'm sure that wont be for a long time.
  17. hmmm. I'd like to know what this person means when they say "cutting in between 3D focal points and perspective". I find stereoscopic technology interesting and would like to know what was going on. (DSE, help please?)
  18. I could be wrong but my guess is that there is some issue with the projection that is causing it, not the movie itself. At my theater there was about a minute of the movie that made everyone's eyes hurt because they screwed something up. Do you remember what the news said the issue is? P.S apparently this was common place back in the day of having to sync 2 separate reels of film. People would puke from motion sickness.
  19. wait, wait, wait! Are we talking about porn again!?
  20. Good directors wouldn't let it get weird. There is a term 'fourth wall' that in 3D movies, as I understand it, describes when things come out of the screen at you. I think it's a cheesy effect so I was happy James Cameron only did it a couple times. Now porn directors are no James Cameron but you don't have to be an award winning director to figure out that it's better to pull people in than stick stuff out at them. I have a feeling a lot of the new generation of 3D porn will be POV.
  21. Cheezuz.... Who wanna have a huge dick coming right at you I'm NEVER gonna watch porn in 3D
  22. lol, you guys crack me up. The funny thing is porn was one of the first industries to utilize 3D technology. Wanna guess the old record holder for highest grossing 3D movie? A softcore porn called "The Stewardesses". haha.
  23. The story was so-so but still enjoyable. It's nothing you haven't seen before in a story. To keep it simple and not give anything away but still give you the gist it goes like this. War between 2 groups with a secondary love story. There is way more to it than that, I'm stripping it down to the very core.
  24. Absolutely. Even old people like yourself would probably enjoy it. But in all honesty if you are willing to accept the story they give you the visuals are very convincing. If you have an IMAX theater around you it's even worth the extra money to see it in IMAX 3D.
